Jason, I have had a ball ache for the last three years with oil coming out of the air box now. I was told by the shop when I took it back for a warranty problem because I thought it had a serious oil leak. they told me, quite rightly that I have been doing wheelies which of course I had, well, thats one of the reasons I bought the TLs anyway.
The trouble was, I couldn't trace the leak and as it was under warranty I was loathed to start taking it apart even though I'm more than competent.
I see marc says ride it like a bitch and I do, every time I go out on it, you have to scream the tits of it to make decent progress, the Gear position sensor unit helps there.(the UK 2000 model had a crap mapping curve for the first few gears which tamed it a bit too much). its done about 12000 miles now and things do seem to be getting better although I bought a K&N filter which is washable and fits in the standard box so, just keep washing it out every time you pull a vertical wheelie and wait until the rings bed in.. ( I hope marc is right.)
I have been talking to people and one said "how do you get on with "no" air filter box then? if you junk the air box?? so, there must be a way around this because race filters dont live in an air box and the engines "still" have emissions pipes.. I will be getting around to answering this question soon.
later dude.
