- OUT TO PROFIT? OR NOT? PARTING OUT FOR CAUSE? OR TO PROFIT? -- FRANK, 18:45:20 11/10/04 Wed
IT MAKES ME SICK. IF YOU HAVE AN UNFORTUNATE WRECK AND NEED TO PART YOUR BIKE OUT TO RECOVER, THEN THATS OK. BUT PARTING OUT FOR PROFIT? HELL, WE COULD ALL DO IT. BUY A WRECKED BIKE, FIND A WEB SITE, AND SELL THE PARTS AT A RIDUCULAS PRICE. SPECIFIC MODEL OWNERS SHOULD STICK TOGETHER. IF WE ALL BOUGHT BIKES TO (PART) SELL THEN THIS GROUP WOULD BE A "FOR PROFIT ORGANIZATION". I FEEL THAT A CLOSE KNIT GROUP SHOULD STICK TOGETHER. FOR EXAMPLE, I SAW A IAP SENSOR FOR SALE FOR APPROX. $100, WHEN I HAVE IT AVAILABLE FOR ONLY $40 PLUS SHIPPING (ALAWYS WILLING TO NEGOTIATE)! MY GOAL IS NOT TO PROFIT, BUT RECOVER. HOW CAN I COMPETE? TL OWNERS NEEDING PARTS, RESOND. YES, I CAN SELL MY BIKE TO A SALVAGE YARD, BUT THIS YARD WILL SREW YOU ALSO. SO, TO GET TO THE POINT, IF YOU NEED EXCELLENT PARTS AT AN EXCELLENT COST, REPLY AT FCASEY1614@MSN.COM. I'M NOT HERE TO PROFIT, JUST WANT TO HELP FELLOW TL OWNERS AROUND THE GLOBE AS WELL AS GET ENOGH MONEY FOR A DOWN PAYMENT ON ANOTHER ROCKET WHEELIE MACHINE.
THANKS ALL, FOR YOUR TIME, AND LETTING MY FRUSTRATIONS OUT!

About 2 weeks ago I got up to go to work and my battery was dead. I called the dealer in Fairfeild, and Vallejo they told me the life was about 2 yrs. My TL is a 01 so I just bought a new battery for 119.00. About a week later the battery died again, I brought it over the dealer in Vallejo. After a day or so they told me it was the stater, and would have to order the part...the cost $555.00! I reluctenly agreed..I need my bike. Anyway a week and a half later I call to get a status and they tell me this did not fix the problem, that there was resistance and that they would have to trouble shoot some more.....2 weeks have pass I call they tell me they can't figure it out. The price $753.00!!!! They also tell me I have to leave one of the headlights unpluged so the battery will charge! What the F!
Can anyone help me plz.....I've spent over $900.00 now and my bike is still in the same shape.

You can put a 1300 Hayabusa motor in gsxr 600's, 750's, and 1000's. If you guys don't mind, can you explain why you can't fit that motor into a TL1000R. Its the best looking bike to hit the market, yet it has a underpowered twin. Thanks for all positive and negative feedback.

- Cracked frames - that old chestnut ! -- Ian, 07:40:16 10/22/04 Fri
Guys, quick question has anyone had any luck with warranty or Suzuki 'goodwill' gestures (on out of warranty bikes) with regards to cracked frames near the headstock?
Mine has 2 hairline cracks that have never got any worse but are obviously off-putting for a potential buyer.
Suzuki customer relations dept have said to me they will take responsibility if an Authorised Suzuki dealer can assess the damage and state its a 'result of deficient manufactue'.
We all the know the cracks at the headstock and shock monting point are unfortunatly common so what have people done about them in the past.
Any comments, web site directions or help would be gladly appreiciated and confidencial.
Moonie.
Would it make me sell it or put me off buying another -NO BL**DY WAY - this is one hell of a bike, and its a rock'n'roll, bad-ass, chainsaw-juggling kind of ride that gives me the willies (if you know what i mean!)

Riding like the mad men has finally caught up to me and my boy. After watching him go down for the 3rd time and tumbling across the road after hitting a slick spot. we had just started our cool down after an intense ride where he experienced some tense moments trying to stay on my back wheel. He pulls me over and says let's cool it cruise back homeward. He goes down shortly after that as we are cruising at 60% just wanting to get home. The emptiness of seeing my boy go down behind me in a cloud of dust is imbedded in my mind forever,thanking God no cars were coming the opposite direction as he lay in the middle of the road still unitl he hopps up and sprints to the roadside to avoid the 2 oncomers shortly after the crash. Minor bruises and a severely sprained ankle and a scratched R6 with frame sliders ground down to nothing. No rhyme or reason for the crash just the bike flying out from under him. I will get rid of the following bikes;
2000 Yellow TL1000R- Yosh full system, hyperpro steering Damp. braided front lines, Marvic Magnesium wheels(white),BMC filter. Just bought an Ohlins rear shock, have yet to install, clean title $6600
2003 Suzuki GSXR 1000, blue/ yosh carbon tri-oval slipon, scotts steering dampner, frame sliders ,bar end sliders and spools, pirelli Supercorsa tires with 1 new spare $8500,8k miles

- That truely does suck but go to a racetrack to ride fast. Everything else is just a commute!!!!! Three times for your son? A more responsible thing would be to buy him a sv650 and do a trackday then tell him to ride at his own limits and focus on being smooth. You both will live a lot longer and be able to share the best sport known to man. Again sorry to hear about you and your son. Glad everyone is ok. (NT) -- Concerned rider, 16:41:31 10/05/04 Tue

This is a great sport and one that has kept my 22 year old from Drugs, Drinking and pregnant. She was Just Excepted into Medical College of Ohio I don't mean to be harsh but as a parent who has seen his little girl Crash I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The SV 650. - Actually, this reason sounds better than the "My wife says it has to go" :-) I discourage my sons from the cycle scene. They are in their 20's now. Maybe if they had ridden from age 10 like me, but now I think I'd have an ulcer if they got one. Maybe they still will, but I told them college has to be finished first, and insurance in their names. The small group I ride with, we've had 4 go down this year. Not a good year. We are skipping track day next week because too many are banged up. I know it's hypocritical. Ride safe! (NT) -- Gary Foreman, 10:39:50 10/06/04 Wed
- I think the best possible thing you could do for your son is to sell the streetbikes if you must. Buy him and yourself dirtbikes and go out and beat the living sh$t out of yourself & the dirtbikes in the woods. Your son will learn more from riding in the sloppiest conditions in the dirt in one day than he will learn chasing the taillight of his old man for an entire summer. At least when he wads his dirtbike he will pick it up and know why. That experience will later help him handle sliding front/rear ends & eliminate the feeling of being scared while on the edge when he starts racing ;) (NT) -- Concerned Rider, 17:16:55 10/06/04 Wed
- Appreciating all of the genuine concern, My boy can ride with the top 10% in our area and has ridden every bike I've ever ridden from an SV650 to my current stable of 1000's. I am getting out for my own reasons, he is still riding his and I would never suggest he do otherwise. For me I have pushed it needlessly for the past 4 years and have become one of the faster riders in our fraternity of over 100 local good riders. Great sport, just my time to get out -- Saurus, 18:08:31 10/06/04 Wed

- Z8 fuel pump -- casey coull, 16:36:08 10/09/04 Sat
about a week ago my 98tlr began cutting out on full throttle. while trying to test the fuel pressure in my garage the pump stopped coming on while cycling the key. I found the source to be the relay, so I replaced it with a regular automotive relay (beats suzuki prices). So with the new relay installed i decide to go for a test drive about 10 minutes out it starts cutting out again. I head back and rig my fuel pressure gauge so i can ride with it wire tied to the handle bars. I found that by the time i hit about 9000 in third i'm down to 25psi, not good. Well lucky me its the fuel pump. Luckily I am a BMW mechanic and i replaced a fuel tank on a z8 about a week ago due to a leak. So here i am with a fuel pump for a 400hp car. I wonder if it will fit in my bike. Well guess what it does with a couple of minor modifications to my fuel pump assembly I was able to install my new pump along with a new filter from discount auto parts. needless to say i now have sufficient fuel pressure, but it sure does draw a lot of current i will have to upgrade the wiring on the circut, but i won't be running out of fuel pressure again.

I was wondering if anyone in the TL owner-land has converted a TLS (cable clutch) to a hydro system like the TLR? I would really like to do this, but want to know the logisitics of it. Can anyone out there help me with this conversion?

- TL engine starting problem -- Giles, 21:13:24 09/28/04 Tue
I recently purchased a 97 tl1000 and for some reason it refuses to start. The battery was weak and needed to be replaced. After replacing it still would not start. It will occasionally hit a lick but that is it. I think it may be flooding. Does anyone know if there is a trick to the cold starting procedure? Please let me know. Thanks
