• That truely does suck but go to a racetrack to ride fast. Everything else is just a commute!!!!! Three times for your son? A more responsible thing would be to buy him a sv650 and do a trackday then tell him to ride at his own limits and focus on being smooth.   • I agree , but the boy can ride and has been on my back wheel the past 6 months and I do ride hard. None of his crashes have been due to size of bike or amount being pushed, road debris and a false neutral have been the culprits the last 2 times. He will be club racing in 2 years at Willow, school , money and being 18 kind of inhibit being able to afford the sport at this time, especially when luck is not always on his side. • Buy him some TIRES and set the suspension correctly. There is No reason anybody should crash that many times. Get the Boy to the Track. This is a great sport and one that has kept my 22 year old from Drugs, Drinking and pregnant. She was Just Excepted into Medical College of Ohio I don't mean to be harsh but as a parent who has seen his little girl Crash I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The SV 650. My little girl now Rides a Very Precise and well tuned 2004 R6. Don't give up on the sport some day Your little Boy Or girl will pass you on that same corner he/ she crashed On.   • Dude, re-read everything I've written, tires, set-up bike size were not an issue. • Actually, this reason sounds better than the "My wife says it has to go" :-) I discourage my sons from the cycle scene. They are in their 20's now. Maybe if they had ridden from age 10 like me, but now I think I'd have an ulcer if they got one. Maybe they still will, but I told them college has to be finished first, and insurance in their names. The small group I ride with, we've had 4 go down this year. Not a good year. We are skipping track day next week because too many are banged up. I know it's hypocritical. Ride safe! • I think the best possible thing you could do for your son is to sell the streetbikes if you must. Buy him and yourself dirtbikes and go out and beat the living sh$t out of yourself & the dirtbikes in the woods. Your son will learn more from riding in the sloppiest conditions in the dirt in one day than he will learn chasing the taillight of his old man for an entire summer. At least when he wads his dirtbike he will pick it up and know why. • Appreciating all of the genuine concern, My boy can ride with the top 10% in our area and has ridden every bike I've ever ridden from an SV650 to my current stable of 1000's. I am getting out for my own reasons, he is still riding his and I would never suggest he do otherwise. For me I have pushed it needlessly for the past 4 years and have become one of the faster riders in our fraternity of over 100 local good riders.
