Fan Switch Mounting -- SDLTLR, 12:41:54 05/10/04 Mon
I am going to mount the manual cooling fan switch on the upper right front fairing near the right ram air tube. I have never drilled into the fairings before. I was wondering should I use an electric drill or a Dremel tool? I have access to both, I just don't want to crack the fairing. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance...

- STOP. Don't mount it on the right side, you'll wish you mounted it on the left. Take a closer look at Gary's picture. I mounted mine on the fairing, on the right. I wish I mounted it on the bars, on the left - its much easier to use,, don't have to take your hand off the throttle and you won't have to divert your attention to looking for the switch when you are moving. Mount it on the bars so you can access it without taking your hands off the bars. (NT) -- GreginBC, 20:02:00 05/10/04 Mon
- I bought Jim's switch a long time ago. (Anyone remeber Jim?) Anyway, the switch mounts in the blank spot on the throttle housing under the kill switch. Very clean. If you want a pic, e-mail me. (NT) -- WickdTL, 12:08:07 05/13/04 Thu

F1 message TL-1000R -- Bootsman, 09:49:01 05/24/04 Mon
Hello Suzuki riders,
I own a Suzuki TL-1000R it`s really an excellent bike but i have a slight problemn with it.
The gasolinepump doesn`t work like it just to sometimes (not always) the connection isnt made and F1 sign lights up. After checking all connections i found out that sometimes the voltage is to low 2,2 instead of 12V but i don`t know what may cause this problem on the bike.
Maybe someone knows how to solve this problem any suggestions are welcome.
To all motorriders all the best and many thanks for your suggestions !!!!!

So, all the goodies are also for sale.

I doubt anyone wants to buy the whole bike (it'd be nice) but if not, the titled frame, motor with 13K, plastics, new tank, etc will be up for grabs. Interested? Details on the for sale page.

Single Cylinder TLR -- Pete C, 14:44:10 05/24/04 Mon
My TLR has no spark on the front cylinder. I have checked the HT side and the plugs, plug caps, leads and coils are fine, I have also checked the wiring back to the cdi unit and that seems to be in one piece. So either the cdi unit is at fault or it isn't getting a signal from the crank sensor. Can anyone tell me how I can check whether the pick up sensor is sending a signal? and where the sensors and wiring are?

Having a bit of a debate with the local Suzuki shop. I've misplaced a gear position switch contact, located under the gear position switch assembly. Its a tiny contact and my model (SX) has 2, one which is placed in a centre slot of the gearshift cam, and one in an outer slot, to detect gear position. The manual and shops microfiche does not make referrence to the centre sensor?. The shop is certain the centre sensor does not exist. Am I going nuts or is the shop wrong!. I can order another sensor, the outer & centre contacts are identical. I just like being right! (sometimes anyway)......

Thanks! Got another question though. -- Aaron, 20:42:38 05/20/04 Thu
Hey all, thanks for the advice about the carbon fiber parts. I've got another question though. I wanna replace the rear sets and I was looking at the Pro-Tek and Vortex sets. Any other suggestions? I noticed with the Pro-Tek I'd have to buy a seperate brake light pressure kit. Also, anyone know if Yoshimura is gonna make a TRS or Tri-Oval system for the Tiller? I've got a Full RS-3 system with carbon cans on it now, and thanks to laying it down, I'd have to replace the left can and Mid-Pipe. I had it quoted at around $500. I figure i can spend that... or spend twice as much for a whole new system. Makes sense to me somehow. Apparently they've changed the RS-3 system anyway so i'd have two slighly mis-matching cans. Can't have that! I was hoping maybe they'd have something new coming out around the time I get back from boot camp in 3 months. Anyways, as always, any input is appreciated. Thanks!

My 97 TLS had his idler gear bushings replaced at 12000 miles.
Now at 22000 miles I have a rattle in the front cilinder when I start the bike (as if excesive valve play) loud mettalic noise.
If I tip the bike over to the right and rev to 4000 rpm the noise suddenly stops (as if oil arrives). The noise is gone after that.
What can this be?? Idler bushing again? Decompression mechanism?? Any input welcome.

Really need some help my bike has been in the shop for almost 2 months for crash damage (waiting for ins. to pay) Anyhow finally went to pick up the bike which they had test rode with no problems. (had chain and sprockets changed while it was in & oil change) while the bike was warming up, at idle (no choke) as soon as it got to running temp about 170 or so started misfiring and shut off! Shop thought my power commander took a sh*t and removed it, no help. The computer has no codes in it, they say. Same thing every time run it at idle for 3-4 minutes acts up. They changed the plugs as well its at a suzuki dealer and any help would be greatly appreciated, I want my bike back!!

Carbon Fiber stuff -- Aaron, 17:04:13 05/19/04 Wed
Hi, I recently laid down my 2000 tlr and i was thinking i might get a little creative putting it back together. Anyone know of any place that currently makes carbon fiber fairings for a tlr, other than having them custom made? I saw that CarbonFiberParts.net made a few custom parts for a relatively reasonable price. Otherwise, anyplace else that anyone knows of?
Also, besides ronayers.com, is there any other place to go to find reasonable replacement parts (mainly cosmetics) for the TL?
Thanks for any input!

Damper (than what?) ... & Wheels -- (TLR)Marty - WA, 10:40:37 05/20/04 Thu
Hey there guys! The Tiller is gone, and the parts are slowly creeping out of the garage - not too much good stuff left. BUT I do have a couple more things I think that guys here on the board might be interested in:
- SCOTTS steering damper. I only had this on the bike for about nine months, and only rode with it about 6 times. No tank slappers, and the bike stayed upright the whole time. This damper is LIKE NEW and makes a BIG difference in the front end feel, especially through the high speed corners (like the carousel at Road America, or your favorite place to throw her over). It installs in about 30-45 minutes and looks really trick. Retail, new, from Scotts is about $450-$500. I could let mine go for $320 (OBO) shipped, in the original box with everything that came with it.
- Wheels. I have a complete set of stock/OEM TLR wheels that used to belong to a now deceased member of this very message board. They are white wheels from a 99 TLR, and they are in EXCELLENT condition. I had them as spares for the track. No tires mounted, and the bearings are in great shape (I had no worries about using these wheels on the track). They are perfectly clean, no scratches or other marks. The rear rim even has a brake rotor on it that I'd be willing to include. I have good boxes to ship them in, so make me an offer, and they're yours. I want to get them out of the garage before they get damaged.
Help me fund this year's track season and clean out the garage. Please e-mail me if you are interested:
TLRMarty@aol.com
THANKS!!

I haven't priced it out yet. But I've been told its expense to have a shop do it. I hope all I have to do is put new rings in it and hone it out. Hopefully I don't have to put new pistons in it. I have changed the plugs, fuel pump relay, and cleaned/greased all terminals. last year just had full exhaust, k/n, remap. this year IVANS smart mod and a different tank. ya think it's the fuel pump in that tank going out? I will try my old tank this week sometime. please help me the thing is not road worthy kind of makes me look like an idiot when the thing bucking wanting to throw me off. I've also checked the T.P.S.

- Carbon Fiber Ram air ducts TLS -- deltl1ks, 14:10:18 05/10/04 Mon
I'm looking for replacement carbon fiber Ram air ducts. I called the Suzuki dealer and they have the parts $65.00 each in RED/BLACK/Blue. I of course want Cabon fiber ducts like the ones orginally on the Bike. Does anyone know where I can buy Cabon fiber parts for the TLS. I saw the link for carbonfiberparts.net on the main board. I sent them an email already. Any other sites you recommend?
I'm also looking for a set of i-onized red fairing screws for the TLS. Any ideas where I can order those.
Thanks

- Aaaarrgghhh oil leak, cant find the cause. -- Morten...Denmark, 07:55:37 04/27/04 Tue
Hi all,
My TLR is leaking oil from the region around the front sprocket. Took it apart, and first changed the seal where the clutch stick enters the engine. The seal looked dodgy so after I changed it I thought it would be fine. But no, still leaking, not huge amounts, but enough to piss me off! Yesterday I cleaned the area with de-greaser and ran the engine for about 10 mins, just blipping the throttle. Nothing, no trace of oil.
Assembled the bike and rode it home from the workshop, got home about 10 km ride, could not see any oil, but it was dark so I was not sure, this morning, again oil in the bottom faring.
Anyone have any ideas?? What other seals are there in that area, and dare I ask can they be changed with out pulling the engine out?
Thanks for any advice...
Morten...Denmark

TL1000S Speedo -- Massa J, 11:49:50 05/07/04 Fri
Hi Folks
I bought a TL a few weeks back and the speedo is acting up. It reads 20mph when the bike is parked and is slow to respond to acceleration and deceleration. Theres 13000 miles on the odometer and this is still reading ok.
Any Ideas?
