Dan,

Since I imported Kobus his breeder wanted to see the x-rays and have them looked at over there. It wasn't something I was shopping to do, hadn't even considered it until it was requested by the breeder, and since the dog came from him I felt he deserved to look at the x-rays himself, and have his testing method applied. So I sent the x-rays over to the breeder and technically he took them for review, I didn't.

As for cross-breeding, if you have a specific goal in mind like trying to add height, mass, temperament, or health to your breed ok and if you have places for all the pups and intend to keep track of them. Otherwise the shelters are full of cross-bred dogs and thousands of them die everyday. A cross-breed dog is more likely to end up in a shelter than a pure-bred dog. That is not to say that pure-bred dogs don't end up there because they sure do. Just last year a local shelter 30 miles from here put down over 5,000 dogs in a town of a population of 36,000. I find that totally unacceptable. Over 1,000 of these dogs were pure-bred dogs. We have pulled Boerboels from shelters in California and Texas already. They were not cross-bred dogs but pure-breds. I just believe that for the most part no matter what your cup of tea on a dog is you can find it in some shape form or fashion in a pure-bred dog.

When Robin wanted to move Nemo out I couldn't take him back here because I had no room for him. His litter mates were already old enough that putting him back in the pack would have caused trouble. I didn't want him hurt or any of the others injured. No one told me of any problems with him until this came across this board. Then I was phoned. Had I been called first I would have made arrangements to get him vetted, placed or back here sooner. I called CatB she did not call me. He will not be destroyed. He has a forever home which is what Robin was trying to do by giving him to CatB. The dog was vetted before he left Cailfornia. By Law he had to be checked and a health certificate issued. If he was limping or lame the vets here would have noted it on the certificate and after speaking to Robin, her vet would have done the same thing. We will see. He goes for a complete exam this week with a specialist.

Sorry you asked now aren't you? It is a bit long. MP
