I think Jay nailed it as far as age goes. They really are like anything else, if you have the time/money you can fix anything on them... About the only time I've found trash fiberglass is when a repair has been shoddy, or the laminate has been trashed by the sun where the paint/gelcoat got knocked off 20 years ago. Grind it back to good, goo on new stuff... back in business.

P.S. I love my Triton, strong as a ox... For instance, my starboard chainplate bulkhead is rotten to dust under the tabbing. It has a 1/4 inch of tabbing on each side... shroud never slacked off! http://pylasteki.blogspot.com/
