Ok, so I have re-evaluated in light of lack of response...

I am considering buying a low-cost fibreglass boat. Please could you chuck in your $0.02 on these choices....

1) Pearson Triton - 2nd most expensive of the lot, needs work...has an atomic 4 (but that will go soonish if bought...)
2) Yankee Dolphin 24 - cheap and ready to go, no atomic 4 (small electric outboard)
3) Capital Newport 27 - very cheap, diesel
4) 30' Catalina - needs finishing, but recently totally repainted (could this be a bad thing? eg hiding flaws????)
5) Westerly 29 - most expensive, nice condition - but paying for bmw diesel
6) 27' Hunter Winebago - pretty cheap, nice condition and comes with a cheap slip. Been on the market a while so possibly a deal? Diesel yanmar

also possibly 27' Ericson Sloop, 27' Morgan sloop, but havent looked closely at them...

The plan is obviously to ditch the engine, but due to inexperience I want to have that option while learning to sail well enough to safely do this. It's looking like I need to teach myself, so the backup is nice...

Thanks for any input
