Just wanted to say hello. All's well with me; really well actually. Got a surge of nostalgia, like I tend to do.
I still RP, and when someone brought Marco into the panfandom game I'm in it started me re-reading the books. Eventually I brought in David to the game and am now playing as him, then my boyfriend got interested in the series so I've been feeding him the books. Then Marco's player and I started chatting about "the good ol days" of the internet. Now that I'm fully saturated with whatever chemical or hormone it is that does these things to me, I'm back here.

A small, nearly forgotten hub sits in a secluded corner somewhere in the galaxy.
As it is approached, the old bar looks rather nondescript. It sits in a small field, a lake to one side, surrounded by woods. But even in such a remote location, it is somehow easy to find.
The worn log building shows years of wear from the elements. Moss clings to the wood, the door hinges are rusty, but somehow by some stroke of luck, the windows are all still intact.
Inside there's many tables and chairs, a couple of them broken, creaky, or a bit off balance. As always, there's a few in dark corners for those who prefer to lurk. There's a bar, fully stocked, and a kitchen in the back with an almost unending variety of food, somehow still good. Up near the ceiling there are rafters for those who like the aerial view. There's a thin layer of dust over nearly everything, and the building has a sad, neglected feel to it.
In its heyday it was a place where people of all species and sides gathered. To argue. To laugh. To make peace, or war. It was a place of love and hate. Battles were once sometimes waged here, evidence of that shown in the burn marks on some of the walls, and some tables and chairs shoved into a corner, beyond repair. But for many, it just offered a respite from the war that waged, a chance to come in, get away from it all, and enjoy a good drink, and possibly some good company.
Yes, the Galaxy's Edge Space Bar sits there, in its own little corner of the universe, waiting for people to one day return...

I was driving today and a song comes on the radio. And I feel some cobwebbed cogs in my head start turning--What is this song? I know I haven't heard it before, at least not this cover. And then I realize--I had heard it before, as an embedded midi. Years ago.

Arrgh, but none of the old midis are working, and Star Port seems to be gone altogether. Still, I'm getting a nostalgia high.
Determined, I dig out an ancient harddrive, plug it in and start searching. I find it. A little file, titled "Kimmeree," filled with midis. I click on sad.mid, and I'm suddenly transported back in time.

sehnsucht, saudade, whatever word you want. this 'place' is still a trammel on my conscience. i left before i was fifteen, haven't been in active contact with ex-members in many moons. still some fond memories. despite the online disinhibition effect & psychodrama nonsense which was our bread and butter i don't consider it wasted youth. i've changed beyond all recognition; i'm sure all of us have. my spirit still haunts those old words. the musical chairs of make-believe love. all that laughter and cheap comfort would do me a world of good right now.

So. Last night I was bored and couldn't sleep. I got on here and was curious on how to contact some people! I web through most of the archives and found contact information lol. Now, its from 2003 so I guess I won't find out if those emails are still used unless I get a reply. I know I still use my email from way back when!
I guess I realized how crazy it was that after 10 years.. A lot of us keep in contact still. I still talk to Damien, Kael, Ronny, v6.. Jesus a few others.. And I'm trying to get a hold of more.
I miss being a kid and being on here. Now I have a brat of my own! I also have a pug and a great dane puppy. She's 3 months old, 45 pounds, and has grown triple n size the 6 weeks I've had her. But its fun.

Major nostalgia kick here for some reason, ftw. XD Yep, Tara's still a big nerd. I'm 24 now, two years outta college, did the biology thing, studied some dinosaur footprints, ran around South Dakota talking about mammoths and other dead animals...and now I work at a shitty pharmaceutical company as a lab monkey! Yay! But at least it's a job. There's one thing I always think of, that always comes to my mind, when I recall those younger days on the anichat boards.
If anyone else recalls this, It'd be awesome to hear.
There was one night where nearly EVERYONE was online. Somehow, we decided to start an RPG. And oh my hell...for an HTML chat room with a bunch of kids 11-14 in it, it was one of the most amazing RPGs i've ever been a part of. It involved a space battle between Andalite and Yeerk forces.
I've never forgotten that. :) I just wish I had it transcribed somewhere...

So. As for what I'm up to...I'm 23, about to graduate with a bachelors in Psychology here in a few months, then it's off to graduate school to get a degree in Counseling. I'm still not married, but hopefully that'll come soon enough. :) I'm living in Idaho, managing a restaurant when not in school, and just all around having a good time. :)

Kk folks, lol, here's the slightly more detailed "hello". It's so great to see posts from people that I remeber, yay for the memories! So, um, yeah. I'm 22 now, engaged to be married in april of next year, and work at the Wal-Mart >.< crunching numbers and shit for them. I tried the college thing for a semester, but then had the realization that I HATE school. I'm happy with the way my life is right now and if I'm ever worried about how my future is going to go, I'll deal with it then.
Basically, I'm still the same old Nerdy Rosie <3 ^.^ I would love if if the SB could live again, and I pretty much can guarantee that i'd be one of the most frequent visitors. Would get me away from the WoW playing >.< (toldya I was a dork XD)
