In reply to: Warlock 's message, "cradle of filth os garbage and korn are a bunch of sellouts manson as ever remains god tho i might go down 2 seattle for Opeth probably just goin campin tho" on 22:28:20 08/01/03 Fri

Ok, as much opinion as this is, I'm going to have to let you know that Cradle is twenty times as talented and five zillion times less of a sellout than Manson. Manson was never underground, he's always put himself in the spotlight- marketed himself for radio and MTV, whereas Cradle does not change its style to cater to any music executive's wants. The last time I saw a Cradle music video, it was on a DVD. I've never even once seen them on MTV, even through what little I watched of the MTVNews coverage of Ozzfest. Wheras Manson's "mobSCENE" was clearly a really bad effort to once again put the public eye on him (what the fuck was that song supposed to be about anyway?). His songs are in no way actually controversial, provocative, or really anything more than something to thrash around to. He's the radio-edited PG version of what he tries to be.
Cradle, on the other hand, composes songs with incredible instrumentals and pages and pages worth of pure poetry, not a fucking word out of place. Each song tells a detailed and complicated story, and though the character his sings as is "evil," he has reasons for the things he does.
Yes, Cradle has put out some crap songs. But songs like "Saffron's Curse," "From the Cradle to Enslave," "Lord Abortion," "Her Ghost in the Fog," and many, many others that I can't even begin to remember FAR outshine Manson's best.
And though I agree with you that Korn has sold out, I also believe that Korn's better than Manson purely from the fact that Jonathan Davis sings from the heart about shit that actually happened to him, while Manson's just trying to put on a show. It's just that after so long you can't bitch about your daddy anymore. Move on, it's over and you're filthy rich now. That's why old school Korn will always be better than anything they ever have or ever will put out after "Follow the Leader." They lost some hardcore respect from me when they did "All in the Family" with Fred Durst. It was a funny song, but... It's Fred Durst, man.
Don't get me wrong- I like Manson, he has entertaining songs, and we used to belong to the same religion before I moved on. But he's in no way brilliant, and he's definitely no god of mine.

...Ok, that's all.
