Date Posted: 13:38:05 05/29/05 Sun In reply to: Nitasha 's message, "hope" on 22:15:09 05/28/05 Sat Fear –yes, it still remained in the child’s features, but as time progressed Bay noticed that Nitasha did indeed relax. As Nitasha took the weapons, Baylina sat back, her rich navy eye focusing on the child quietly. Her faded blind eye looked in her direction, but it saw nothing…nothing but an eternal blackness. The story of its failure was rather simple to understand if one looked close enough –a dulled scar ran along the edge of her eye socket. The child’s next words rang in Baylina’s ears, ‘To protect…’ Although she had never really considered herself a protector, Nitasha had just summed up her way of life in a simple question. It was true, Baylina killed to protect; it had been her one desire in life, the one thing she had been born to do…so she came to believe. She had protected Lyra and had been willing to die for the child, and it was a miracle that Baylina had survived and Lyra had not; truthfully, Bay had sustained just as many injuries. “Yes, I kill to protect; my people kill to conquer, but my story is a bit different. Killing is not fun –it is a curse and a burden that never disappears.” Baylina told Nitasha desolately. The guards were nothing but fools, and killing for fun never trained anyone in the ways of a true fighter –that had been the main reason Baylina had won so easily. The young woman retrieved her weapons, and took them back into her possession, putting them in the proper positions at her side. Baylina gave the child a small, sad smile of comfort –the depression that consistently occupied her mind was evident along her façade, but Bay made sure to hide it to the best of her abilities. ‘I’m nothing without Lyra…just another killer.’ She thought absentmindedly, the thoughts consumed her mind, and she could no longer repel them as she wished she could. Regardless of what Kyran thought, or Craven for that matter, Baylina would not allow harm to befall the girl. Especially if Bay’s protective nature got the better of her –then the woman would prove to be a handful for anyone who crossed paths with her. Nitasha was free to ask any question she wished…she was free to be herself –eventually she would come to learn that around Baylina, the child was unbound from the chains that held her back –released from the everlasting cage that contained her from the freedoms others were granted… [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
