Subject: Special People

I want everyone to know how special some of the people on this forum are. I participated in the Secret Santa this year and unfortunately never received a gift in return. True, I was disappointed, but I understand sometimes circumstances prevent us from following up on things we commit to. I had received such wonderful compliments on the truck I made for Joan, that made the whole thing worth while, gift or not. However, our wonderful Ruth, who was in charge of the Secret Santa did not give up. When her efforts failed, she took matters literally into her own hands. Today I got such a surprise! A gift to John Boy from Erin. The gift contained stationery with pictures of the Walton home and barn on it, a bookmark and pictures all with John Boy's window on them, a coffee mug with a picture of the Walton home on it, and a letter which reads: "Dearest John-boy, How are things in NY? We miss you here on the mountain. I took some pictures around the house and barn to send to you. Mama said to take a picture of your window because whenever she looks up she can picture you there writing the time away. I borrowed the camera that Curt gave to Mary Ellen. Remember when you took me to have my portrait taken? That was very special for me. You have always been such a thoughtful big brother. Little did we know then that our family would someday own a camera. I know you work long hours on your writing so I am sending you something for your late night coffee to remind you of home on Walton's Mountain. I also made some stationery so you can write to us all about your NY adventure. I hope I can visit you sometime soon. I am saving my money for a train ticket. I am longing to see all the sights and tall buildings. Everyone here is fine and we keep busy. We think of you everyday and we all send our love. Love, Erin"
How very special is that?!! Almost as special as Ruth!! Thank you so much Ruth/Erin.
