OTTA Finals
November 15 A@ Ben Bruce Memorial in Evadale Texas

http://www.houstonoutlawracing.com/

This should be an exciting race with the Champion ship on the line for O.T.T.A (Outlaw True 10's and Ultimate Street)

Come out to see who will take home the Champion ship Gold ring.

We may have to send someone to Georgia to recover the victory cup from the last race ......

Please post on your favorite Message board and forward to all your friends.

This gets better every day.

C & T Racecars has added a new set of M/T 10.5 tires in Ultimate Street for the Runner Up!

2nd chance race added to OTTA for the Grand Finale on November 15, 2008

We would like to give something back to all the guys that have came out and supported us all season but ended up on the bottom part of the ladder.

For the final points race we will add a 2nd chance race.

OTTA payout
$ 2500.00 Winner
$ 1000.00 Runner up
$ 250.00 Semi
$ 175.00 QTR
$ 100.00 8-16

The payout for the 2nd chance race is
$1000.00 to the Winner
$ 500.00 to the Runner up

This will be for 1st round losers and Non Qualifiers.
If you qualify in the top half 1-8 of the field you can not participate in the second chance race.

You will still get your funds for the first race, this is just a little something extra to say Thank You from the High Velocity Team for supporting us all season. Over the last few races we have seen some killer numbers pop up in the 4.70 range. We do not want racers who may not be able to run those types of numbers to loose interest so we are looking for a way to keep everyone happy and participating for next season. We don't want to slow our front runners down and we don't want to run anyone off. We want to grow bigger and better. This is a last minute fix for the end of this season but I assure you that we will come up with a solutions that will be a happy mix for next season.

So tune those cars and get ready for the finals November 15, 2008 at Ben Bruce Memorial Raceway in Evadale Texas.

See you at the races

I see no reason why not. You may have to make minor frame mods but thats not a hard thing to do and its also easy to shorten a frame to what ever the 31 wheel base is. The old bodys on modern chassis makes for a great street rod and its cheaper to use the frames that available today for the conversion.

The Wolf Creek Park show was really a nice event and we went down with our normal running buddies. There was plenty of good parking and the lake was calm which contributed to a execellent setting. There were motorcycles,golf carts and plenty of cars to keep every one busy all day and food venders every where. It was a really good weekend and we will plan on including this one in our next years plans. The pictures are posted on the gallery.

OCT 10-11-12 was this years date for the Key to the Hills show in Boerne Texas. The weather couldn't have been better and the car turn out was great. There were some of the usual rides there but a lot of new street rods were on the scene. We have several hundreds photos and as soon as we get them edited we will post them on the gallery. If you have never been to the Boerne show it would be a good time to make plans for next year and make it out. There is plenty of antique shops for the ladies while the guys can inhale all the cars on display for many blocks down main street. We have already set up for next year and have this event on the calendar for 2009.

Houston, TX (September 25)--Just two weeks after Hurricane Ike knocked out power along the Texas Gulf Coast, Houston Raceway Park will light up the skies of Southeast Texas this weekend with an action packed schedule of events. The gates open Friday, September 26, at 6PM, for Friday Night Street Racing, followed by the Hurricane Alley Drag Racing Series on Saturday. The festivities continue Saturday, September 27, for the Universal Technical Institute ASCS Sprint Car Challenge presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.

The stage is set for the American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region Season Finale on the ¼ mile high-banked dirt oval Speedway. The fastest Outlawed Winged Sprint Cars will battle the dirt, along with HRP’s own Limited Modified and Crate Late Model classes. Spectator gates open at 6pm with side by side racing action commencing at 7pm.

“This weekend’s race is special in many ways,” says Seth Angel, General Manager. “We want to invite the community out on us, to the races, during this difficult time in the aftermath of Ike.” With the generous support of UTI and O’Reilly Auto Parts, thousands of free tickets have been distributed throughout the entire surrounding community. “We want to lift the financial burden, if just for one night, off the many families already hit hard by the damage Ike has created.”

For free tickets you must call Houston Raceway Park before Saturday to reserve your FREE tickets: HRP Box Office 281.383.7223

And if that's not enough for you, the weekend concludes Sunday as Houston Raceway host the Early Irons in Texas Swap Meet. Gates Open at 6am Entrance 1 at the dragstrip.

Most of the old stuff in the 30's to 50's had straight splines with a single nut. They are difficult to remove but not impossible. I first remove the nut and do the WD 40 for a couple of days and let it soak. I then put the nut back on the threads so that it is flush with the threads. I then put a brass hammer on the nut and hit it with a steel ballpean hammer a couple of times but not real hard but enough to shock it. Now the hard part-I put both knees under the wheel with up pressure as hard as I can and do the brass hammer thing again-If you can't do this have some one get behind you and pull up on the ring of the wheel and hit it again taking care not to flatten the steering shaft. This is one way-The other is to get a flat bar puller and on both sides of the shaft in the steering wheel is a 5/16 threaded hole. Again leave the nut on the shaft so as not to damage the shaft and turn in the shaft of the flat puller . After you have some pressure of the puller tap it with the ballpean-One of these methods will solve your problem. The reason for the first method is most dont have a small puller but there available at the bigger parts houses and most rent them--

Well with all the evacs on the roads today I can only imagine what will happen tomorrow. Gas stations in the Houston,Conroe area are 4-5 deep at the pumps and folks are just trying to be ready for the big blow. At this time I am sure all our car events are shut down as well as Houston Motor Sports Park who has just sent out notices on being shut down due to the weather. Currently the freeways north bound are moving and thats about it and plenty of people heading for safety. I wish every one well and lets hope we dont get to much damage.

Subject: Few words from Lee Iacocca

Author:
HRC
[Edit]

Date Posted: Monday, July 14, 08:32:pm

Remember Lee Iacocca, the VP at Ford credited with the birth of the Mustang, the man who rescued Chrysler, Corporation from their death throes, and the owner of the famous quote "Lead, follow, or get out of the way"? Well, he's back! He has a new book, and here are some excerpts.

Lee Iacocca writes:

'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course'

Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned 'Titanic' I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the bums out!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq , the Middle East is burning, and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the 'America' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have.

The Biggest 'C' is Crisis !

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kid off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down. George Bush, Dick Chaney and who it this Bozo coming up next? One of the most Liberal Idiots in the U. S. Senate and he is talking about disarming America. I can't believe the American people are seeing what he is about to do to this country. May God have mercy on us all.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A Hell of a Mess. So here's where we stand. We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country. We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia, while our once-great Companies are all moving offshore. We're getting slaughtered by health care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are the worst in the world. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class is being squeezed every which way. These are times that cry out for leadership and we are getting ready to put the most Liberal Senator in the U. S. Senate in as our next President because we want to be fair and elect someone just because of his race. We don't have time to be fair, we need a strong leader.

But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I hope you get the point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane, or demanding accountability for the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm. Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn't happen again. Well guess what people? We are having more floods right now. What are we doing to help these people out. Now, that's just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you're going to do the next time. Why are we allowing people to build in flood plains anyway? If you build in a flood area, expect to be flooded and deal with it. Don't expect the Government to bail you out.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. All they seem to be thinking now-days is getting themselves bigger salaries and bonuses. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it? likely nothing!

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debt, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress and the Senate. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on Fox News will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change? I honestly don't think any of you have one!

Had Enough?

Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope; I believe in America .... In my lifetime I've had the privilege of living through some of America's greatest moments I've also experienced some of our worst crises: the 'Great Depression', 'World War II', the 'Korean War', the 'Kennedy Assassination', the 'Vietnam War', the 1970s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11. If I've learned one thing, it's this:

'You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a call to 'Action' for people who, like me, believe in America . It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So let's shake off the crap and go to work. Let's tell 'em all we've had 'enough.'

Make a 'real contribution' by sending this to everyone you know and care about......our future is at stake!
