Niftee50ees Classic Drive In
By: Randy Shannon

Another Classic Drive In brought out many cars for the Memorial Day weekend at Niftee50ees.

What threatening clouds that came early, soon disappeared and remained pleasant throughout the evening.

We were happy to see many attending and hope everyone enjoyed our night of classic street rod fun.

A Note from Molly and Randy

On behalf of Niftee50ees, Molly and I wanted to extend our appreciation to many of our Street Rodders for your concerns and volunteer fill in to help us with the many task involved to keep our shows running.

Molly wanted to let everyone know her appreciation with a special note to those of you who stepped up to fill the void while she was out of pocket and taking pictures of the events while she was away with Mom.

We have some very dedicated participants who wish the success of Niftee50ees and offer their support in so many ways.

We simply wanted to say thank you for your support and it also helps us with the tiring work of keeping the show running as smooth as possible.

The same goes for all of our dedicated volunteers who tirelessly give all they can to assist the events each and every Saturday night.

Our appreciation to ALL of you including our faithful donating Street Rodders who look forward to the Saturday night cruises and understand that our donation request is for Niftee50ees and not ourselves and can also understand that these type events require funds to keep them running week ..after week ..after week.

We'll do the work, we ask your help to support our efforts.
Nothing more, nothing less.

We enjoy your attendance and more especially your dedication!

More or less, our "Hoods or Off " to those special people.

We sincerely hope our work better enriches the lives for the Saturday Night Cruiser!

In closing we are also challenged to keep the classic wheels turning at Niftee50ees

Together we win, divided we falter

-Randy

Saturday May 23rd. Alvin AutoFest Arrived Saturday morning at National Oak Park in Alvin for their Kiwanis Autofest Car show. I knew when I left the house that I would probably get rained on, but hat to pass this one up. Let me clear the air a little bit here folks. I had listed the show as Kiwanis Crawfest, and a lot of people were asking where are the "CRAWDADS"? As Jerry Barnet but it, "When you buy a couple of tons of crawdads, you cook 'em anyway, so they had Crawdads in the rain. Brad Richards rescheduled the car show portion for to today (as the rain out date). So with that, "Everyone ate your crawdads back a month ago!! With that out of the way, the car show was still able to bring in about 75 + cars even with the threat of rain in the area, NOT BAD! A couple of SCC Club Members brought their new rides out, Vince Morreale 1957 Pontiac Click Here. and Steve Tomlinson 1955 Oldsmobile Click Here. I took about 200 pictures before the rain, and weeded them out, down to about 144 in the link below, enjoy.

Hooters Satruday May 23rd. 2009 Cruise Night by Fred

Another near miss with the rain, but Saturday night turned out
great. There was 100+ cars out and everyone had a good time.
We were very pleased with the turn out even though there had
been some heavy rains during the day. I ,myself got soaked at
a show I was judging at. But the weather cleared for the night.
As I walked around looking at the car and talking to some people,
I asked how they had hear about our cruise-in. Most said it was
through the new letters. So a BIG thanks to you Bob for helping
us spread the word. Robin was pretty tired form the show we had
been at all day, so no pictures this week.
Reminder; next week, photo shoot with the Hooter's Ladies from
6:00 to 6:30 pm.

Niftee50ees
Classic Cruise News!
May 14, 2009

Fellow Street Rodders,

We hope all had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Thanks for another wonderful turnout this past Saturday night at the Classic Drive In.

As always, new first time arrivals once again attended a great Saturday evening of fun with their classic rides as chrome and paint glistened under the bright lights.

Summer is on the way as the heat begins to arrive as well as the longer daylight hours.

We would like to thank Garage Town for their generosity in providing ice cold drinking water at our shows during the warm days at the events.

Future..

We have been contacted by several individuals and businesses over the weeks in what looks like a positive growth for Niftee50ees with more offerings for the future.

We wanted to give our thanks to some wonderful people at the show and especially the "Hot Rod Hoodlums" for refurbishing and donating a much needed golf cart to our needs at the events.

Special thanks to Tommy Jackson who did a wonderful job on the old cart which will help us with our parking lot chores in clean up and cone distribution as well as fast errands needed during the show times.

Tommy and other members went out of their way to paint and customize this unique Niftee50ees Golf Cart!

Special Pin Striping performed by Joe Cortillo!

Special upholstery by Mike Blanchette.

Some of the most wonderful rodders in the world attend Niftee50ees

You've made our work load a little easier.

Thanks Tommy Jackson!

We would also like to thank Doug for stepping up to take photos of the events while Molly is away and assisting Mom who is recovering from her misfortune the past few weeks.

We will upload the photos as soon as we can from last week.

In the meantime, your patience is greatly appreciated as we work on getting back on track.

We appreciate everyone's concern for Mom as she is trying to recover from her recent heart failure.

Your prayers and concerns have been greatly appreciated and her presence at the shows have been missed. All she can look forward to is the photos and newsletters that we provide.

We look forward to another night of fun this Saturday and ask for a great weekend of good weather.

Our best wishes to all rodders and our gratitude for your attendance and support at our weekly events!

Randy Shannon

Space City Cruisers

We wish our friends in south Houston much success in finding another cruise gathering location very soon.

As Bob mentioned in last week's newsletter, it is hard to find on going cruise night locations that will allow assemblies of cruise nights.

It can happen to any of us and more the reason why rules and guidelines must apply along with the added cost of running these events to secure cruise locations. It's the responsibility of all concerned with the host and the rodders to assure that shut downs be kept to a minimum at best.

Responsibility is the key word here folks and that means all of us who attend or host such gatherings.

They can go away as quickly as they come.

These gatherings require undivided attention from start to finish.

We wish our fellow rodders a quick replacement so they too can enjoy their rides once again.

Here's Bob Wright with more south Houston news.

No dust collected on the Camaro Kid This Last Weekend!

My Weekend started for me on Thursday May 7th. for the introduction of the Newly Reborn 2010 Camaro to the Houston area. 10 other Classic Camaro's and my 67 (4-1967 & 7-1969) were invited to Minute Maid Park to welcome about 45 plus brand new 2010 Camaro's. They left Sam Houston Race Park with a Police escort to arrive at Minute Maid about 4PM. It made for a fitting day with the first generation Camaro and the rebirth of the new 2010 Camaro's. The Classic Camaro's were a BIG hit with the crowd of spectators going to the park to watch the Astros play the Chicago Cubs. I'll let the pictures below reflect on the big day for the new Camaro.

5 AM came real early for me on Saturday morning for the Aeros & Autos Car Show at Ellington Airport. The Space City Cruisers club members played a big part in this show that benefited the "Texas Lions Camp" and "Helping A Hero" foundations. The SCC helped in a lot of the planning and all of the judging! After all the dust settled, the turn out of Classic Cars and Trucks was a record breaking count of 235 plus. My baby and I had to leave at about 1 PM for a prior commitment at Norman Frede Chevrolet for the auctioning off of two brand new 2010 Camaro's. I only took her out of the trailer for a photo shoot with the US Fighter Jet then back into the trailer for this commitment. Up to that point in time, I was able to squeeze out about 338 pictures for y'all to look at. Enjoy the pictures, and thank you to everyone that attended this great fund raiser & Car Show
Click here: 05-09-09 Aeros And Autos At Ellington Airport pictures by camaro kid

Arrived at Norman Frede Chevrolet at about 2 PM for the Auctioning off of the two new 2010 Camaro's which would take place at 5 PM. The old girl strutted her stuff when they opened the side doors of the show room floor. She made the sweetest sound as she made her way past the two 2010 Camaro studs. I think she was reminiscing back when she was on a show room floor just like this, somewhere, someplace, 42 years ago. All eyes were on her and she knew it, she didn't miss a stroke, made me proud!! After setting up my nostalgia drive in tray on the door, and the Mustangs spitting out the tail pipe, it was time to sit back and take it easy. J L Giamalva showed up a little bit later, one of Space City Cruisers newest members, who would be doing the auctioning of the two new Camaro's. We talked about his new ride, just six weeks old for him(Click Here), a nice silver gray 1940 Ford Coupe and also how we might use his expertise at out Fall Car Show. The auction started right on time, 5PM with the silver colored RS Camaro, which lasted several minutes until the gavel came down for the last time at $34,100. The Black Camaro was next on the block, and the bidding went a lot quicker, with it going to a new owner for $28,000. At this time in the day, my baby and I were burning on dimmers, but we had one more stop to make before we headed home. I put her back into the trailer and headed to Hooters Saturday Cruise Night on I-45 and Nasa Rd 1. Here are a few pictures inside Norman Frede show room with My Baby and the all new Chevrolet Camaro's. Enjoy, hope I haven’t lost y’all yet!!!
Click here: 05-09-09 The 2010 Camaro's Auctioned Off At Norman Frede Chevrolet

I could see that Fred, Robin & Jim were already there around quarter to six, so I parked my baby, and headed to Hooters knowing that they were inside. Jim Fisher & Fred Anthony took the initiative on their part to talk with Management at Hooters, David Garten, for getting approval in starting the Hooters Saturday Cruise Night back two weeks ago. When in Hooters, ask for David Garten, and thank him for supporting Fred & Jim, in bringing about the replacement to Chick-Fil-A in Kemah. You don't have to look very far for Jim, Fred or the Robin (the souped up wild Bob Cat), they will be somewhere in the parking area. When you see them, thank them for their time, and I think a Big Texas hug would be appropriate! I don't know how many cars for the night, but their were a lot of Cruisers on foot checking it out before they make a commitment. The old girl and I left early from Hooters parking lot, my butt was dragging, but it was an exceptional full day. That’s all folks, I've just about worked my fingers to the bone on this key board. Enjoy the very good pictures that Robin sent me and I’ll see y’all out there somewhere next weekend!!!

A Note From Fred Anthony Just Came In While Writing This News Letter

Second Saturday night Cruise-in at Hooter's The second cruise-in was a success, with good weather. We more than doubled the cars from the first night with the last count I got was 113 cars. David, the general manager for Hooter's was there and came out a couple of times. He was impressed with the number of cars. David also brought out a trash can for us to use. I have to admit I am impressed with David's willingness to get this going. Example, the first Saturday we had a couple of lights not working and Jim called David to tell him. This Saturday they were working. All that came out seemed to enjoy and we thank them greatly. This seems to be our new place to be on Saturday nights for the South side of Houston.

Niftee50ees Classic Drive In
By: Randy Shannon

Another week of Classic Street Rods were present at the Drive In and car owners again socialized and visited among themselves.

We wanted to update everyone with our added parking arrangements next to Starbucks as we now have access to the entire side of the facility.

This will ease some of the congestion on busy nights and also allow us to reserve parking for the fellow tenants during their business hours.

After 7pm our cones are once again moved back for added space for the Street Rodders.

We would like to Thank Starbucks for the added spaces as we now have ALL of their customer parking except for the front.

Be sure to patronize Starbucks for their help the next time you are there.

Rains a comin!

Reviewing the forecast for this weekend doesn't look promising for a show with all the potential rain expected.

We will know more by this Saturday and hope for the best.

We wish a safe and wonderful weekend for all no matter the out come with the weather.

Help Requested / Magnolia, TX

Beverly Tucker contacted us seeking help for the event. If you would like to participate, please contact her at the numbers below.

This goes out to all you Niftee50ees and classic car owners:

My name is Beverly Tucker and I am the events coordinator for the Magnolia Historical Society. Our most important annual fundraiser is this weekend on the 18th of April, "Depot Day". Among our many activities planned (live entertainment, live auction, silent auction, craft booths, gunslinger show, kids slide, rock climbing wall, petting zoo, face painting, and our state-renowned brisket) we also planned on hosting a classic car display.

It has always been a real crowd-pleaser in the past, and we love to please the crowd! Alas, our planned classic car display had to pull out at the last minute and we are now searching far and wide for classic car owners who are interested in showing off their beauties.

I realize this is very last minute, but we would appreciate anyone who might be interested in participating in this event.
While this is not a car "show", per se, it is a fun event that draws out a crowd and lets people with an interest in classic cars to admire the collection of others.

Depot Day is on Saturday April 18th from 10am to 6pm. The Magnolia library graciously allowed us to use a section of their parking lot to show the classic cars.

The area would hold about 15 to 20 cars. Anyone who is interested in participating or needs more info can call me on my cell phone at 281-723-4823.
Thanks ya'll! Beverly Tucker

Space City Cruisers Easter Car Show Sat. April 11th. 2009

“GREAT SUCCESS” THANK YOU EVERYONE!

The big change of moving the Space City Cruisers Car Show from the League Park to Walter Hall Park in League City was an undertaking that everyone nervously anticipated on this cool morning.

SCC club members came out of the woodwork for this new endeavor ( before the day was over) and would blow everyone's mind away on how this well oiled machine can get the job done!!!

The weather was a little bit iffy, but the Rodders & Cruisers started checking in at registration for a day of kicking tires and reminiscing about all the old cars we use to own. After registration closed, our count of Classic Cars and trucks was at 214.

The SCC record for cars and trucks is 247, but I anticipate this record will be broken with your help in future car shows to come. Our goal, as always is to try and give out trophy's at 3 PM, we were about 15 minutes late, but considering our time line for the whole day, this wasn't bad. When all the dust had settled after y'all had left, the discussion among our tired SCC club members was, WOW, what a future we have here at this Walter Hall Park!!!

We ALL know that we have room for improvements, and that our show issues will be addressed in future meetings. We also know that we can't please everyone, but with that as a challenge, it is our goal to improve and keep the negatives to a minimum!!! Just can't say enough about our Club Members, SCC Ladies Bake Sale, Loyal Sponsors, Lions Club (food arts & crafts) , The Shop (4X4's),

The Ultimate Pit Stop (swap meet), and of course YOU, our participants. Y'all are the hub of this great wheel that makes all this possible for our club to generate the most money we can!! This money supports our Vicki Harvey Gibson Scholarship Fund, The Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, and other youth organizations in and around the League City area.

Thank you to EVERYONE that made this all possible for our kids! Please mark your calendars for our Fall Car Show October 17th.Click here: 04-11-09 Space City Cruisers Easter Car Show Pictures by Camaro Kid

Before we go..

A friendly reminder that we have been summonded once again to bring the 4th Annual Tomball Cruise Night to Lowes in Tomball.

Last year we had cruisers from Austin and San Antonio attending the event with a car count to peak at approximately 457 cars!

The Tomball Cruise Night will take place the first Friday night in August for Tomball Tax Free Weekend.

We will keep everyone posted with the news and progress for this event.

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your classic.

Many shows scheduled and we wish for a great success for everyone and their show host.

Let's hope we have a reasonable weekend and hope the rain will diminish.

Take Care and remember you are in our thoughts and plans for much fun with the love of our classic cars!

Classic Cruise News!
April 8, 2009

Happy Easter!
Forward

We wanted to wish all of our Special Street Rodders a Happy and Safe weekend and a time to spend with friends, family.

Drive Safely!

Concerns

We would like to remind everyone that our show times officially start at 6pm and closes at 10pm every Saturday night.

We are experiencing many cars arriving earlier and earlier each week before our allotted time agreement under our lease provisions.

The early arrivals then want to leave early as we are trying to park cars that are coming later in the night.

Thus we have holes in the parking area as we are looking to get everyone bedded down for the evening.

Secondly, we have businesses that are open until 7pm and we must allow parking for their customers until their closing time under our lease agreement.

We are asking everyone's help with our ever growing event and the man power required to keep our shows running safely and smoothly.

We realize everyone has their favorite parking areas and also have come long distances to be a part of our show, and must on occasion need to leave a little earlier.

We received several complaints from some of the tenants about the parking arrangements which was forwarded to the property management and then back to me.

It is becoming more evident as we move forward that we must look for bigger and better things in the very near future to keep our shows going with the continued growth and safety concerns along with the parking situation.

In the meantime, we ask ALL rodders to work with us so we may continue to enjoy our privilege to assemble.

If you must arrive early, then you may be required to park in allocated areas until the business have officially closed and then move if you prefer, as spaces become available or by the Bank parking lot where you can leave early.

If we continue to have the ongoing concerns, then we will be forced to move the show times to 7-10pm

We do appreciate everyone who attends our events and we ask for everyone's help with this matter.

We will have a sectioned coned off for the open businesses until they close and must allow for their customers convenience to parking during open business hours.

When these businesses close, we will then move the cones back to our designated parking as originated, which will allow additional parking for the rodders.

We apologize for the temporary inconvenience but we would be further disgruntled to know our lease was revoked.

Thanks for you help in advance as we look for improvements in the future.

Let us be ever be reminded that weekly events have come and gone in the past.

Supervision and organization with these type of events is ever so required to keep the privileges on going.

Our situation with Niftee50ees is no different from any other weekly show and requires the additional man hours, cooperation with property managers, tenants, insurance regulations, security, lease agreements and cooperation from our participants.

It is a serious matter folks

Let's ALL work together.

Randy or Molly:

This is John Kudelka with Expo Classic Cars. We were Texas Sports and Specialty Cars, but we moved to share a location with Expo Motor Cars. Since we were at the same location, we naturally amended our name to fit the business.

I would appreciate being able to get my cars in front of the wonderful Houston audience who appreciates these vehicles as much as we do. I look forward to hearing back from you soon for instructions on how to get my cars on your website.

Saturday April 4th. 2009

Thank you Johna & Phyllis for making for a great day in Galveston. We all met at Sussan Furniture in Dickinson. You would have thought that the SSR club was having a meeting with all the SSR's. Gary Thacker led us from there to the Moody Mansion, precision driving on his part to keep everyone together and Chris Eckman bringing up the rear with SCC trailer. The management was waiting, and welcomed us with gated parking for security. We had a few non-members (non-m) join us, and I will have there names on the list below. Very interesting tour, my first time, and would encourage anyone that hasn't been to put it on your list of things to do whenever someone comes in from out of town. Enjoy the pictures, and safe cruisin' everyone

8th. Annual XL Parts Open House
Sunday April 5th. 2009

XL Parts Distribution Center, at Beltway 8 & HWY 290, had there 8th. Annual Open House. Randy Shannon of Niftee50ees, an outside sales rep for this company, was given the responsibility of bringing together some real nice ALL CLASSIC cars and trucks, and he did delivered.

All cruisers received a free Bar BQ plate Dinner with all the trimmings along with a Nitee50eees Tote Bag, T-shirts and caps. As I devoured my Bar BQ plate, I don't know if I was drooling because of the good food or being surrounded by all the car parts that I could ever want or need!

The talk among the rodders on the grass was, "Just give me a shopping cart for about ten minutes, to run through the aisles of the warehouse, to fill it up with all the car parts available for my ride"!!! I took a few pictures so y'all could see what you missed, enjoy. (I'm sure Randy will have a follow up on this in his News Letter!!!)

KEMAH CRUISE IN CANCELLED

Rob (KEMAH CLASSIC AUTOMOTIVE) and Denny with the Space City Cruisers have been working on this problem with the Sat night Cruise in Clear Lake Shores / Kemah. Rob just called and advise me that Target has said that they do not want anyone on their parking lot. Target will be montoring their lots, anyone parking and sitting will be ask to leave.

You ask what about the business that they get from all the wives that shop at Target, the statement was made that its a legal issue and there will be no further discussion.
Denny met with the Chick-fil-a owner at the League City Store and he will check with the T J MAX people to see if we could do a Cruise In at the fm 646 location.

If anyone knows of any location in any City, let us know, so we can get some people there to talk with them.

Please PASS ON TO everyone that the Cruise In at Chick-Fil- is SHUT DOWN in Clear Lake Shores / Kemah

Niftee50ees Classic Drive In
By: Randy Shannon

There were plenty of Car Shows, Drag Races and other events this past weekend, add a little cool weather and the pickins were plenty for attendance.

Niftee50ees Classic Drive In did find several new attendees at the show although the our car count was rather smaller with 231.

Each week we find new arrivals with their first time attendance to add a consistent flare of new eye candy to the gatherings.

With the weather becoming a little chilly, it wasn't long before many started gathering their jackets as the brisk northern wind began to pick up just a tad.

Some began to depart a little earlier than usual as the coolness began to set in.

The older rodders that have been around for a while always carry jackets and wind breakers for the weather in Texas can always change.

Although our gathering was a little smaller than usual, we still had a great turnout of spectators who were eager to see the arrival of Classic Cars.

We will resume our third week of 2009 this Saturday, April 4, 2009.

DANCING IN THE STREETS IN GALVESTON
Saturday March 25th.

Y'all didn't have a shortage of car shows to go to last Saturday, other than the temperature was a bit nippy, but with warmer temps in the afternoon.

I made my way down to Galveston to enjoy some dancing in the streets with Pee Wee Bowen, and surrounded by some of the nicest Classic Cars in the Houston/Galveston area.
The block party was to promote the opening of CRUZ CORTEZ CLOTHIERS "Tailor To The Stars" at the corner of 23rd & Post Office Street in the heart of the City of Galveston. Free food, soda water and bubbly was provided by Cruz Cortez.

You could feel the love in the air as Pee Wee's voice vibrated the old walls of downtown Galveston. When you come to listen to this man sing, you sure can feel his passion for the love of his music.
I started dancing to his music back in the early 70's and this gentleman gets better with age. It's not surprising to me, and his followers, why he was voted the Best 2008 Local Entertainer of the Year by The Bay Area Houston magazine. Thank you Pee Wee. Click here: Pee Wee Bowen Band
Thank you, Cruz Cortez, wish you the best success in your business venture. Hopefully more businesses will follow his lead after the wake of Hurricane Ike's furry!! Enjoy the pictures folks. Bob

Good To See Friends & Fellow Cruisers

Some fellow cruisers said that they had a low turn out at Niftee50ees, down from there usually 500, LOL. I'm sure it was 5 degrees cooler up there, which only brings out the Real Die-Hard's. I'm sure Randy Shannon will give you a full report in his News Letter.

If you have an event you'd like to promote, PLEASE come check out www.HoustonCarScene.net and add a post to our forum, or email me directly and I'll post it for you.

We want to grow the car community's fellowship and cross promote for the benefit of our clubs as well as for the general public. Come check us out!!
