Niftee 50ees
Classic Cruise News!

November 4, 2010
by: Randy Shannon

The 7th Annual "Monster Classic Car Show was busting at the seams this past Saturday night as hundreds upon hundreds of street rodders poured in.

We have no exact count of classic cars attending but we do know many were parked in the rear of Kroger's, down the street at Walgreens, Uncle Bob's Storage and we were told some were even parked down the road at Taco Bell and Burger King.

Spectators lined up both sides of Spring Cypress Rd. and not one space was open in the Kroger's parking lot.

The parking lot shopping center across the street was even loaded with cars at one time.

We have never experienced this many cars for a Saturday night show at Kroger's since our beginning.

We can only estimate 650 to 700 cars either attended or attempted to attend during the length of the night. Some we never saw or they opted to come back another night and left.

Visitors from Sugarland, Pearland, Chorpus Christi, Tomball, Magnolia, Katy, were just a few and we are sure many others were from other communities that we were not aware of.

At 8:30 pm we were still trying to find holes to slide in oncoming street rodders.

Our apologies for those who couldn't be included in the main event and also our thanks for all your patience and understanding with the over whelming attendance.

Despite all the crowded conditions, everyone was orderly and conducted themselves in a safe manor.

Our hats off to the Niftee 50ees Cruisers for putting on one outstanding showmanship!

The final car count is unknown but we know it was a blow out!

Thanks everyone!

Wow! What can we say, what a show. We want to "Thank" everyone who attended, volunteered and participated in the 7th Annual Monster Classic Car Show. It was truly a spooky night of ghosts, goblins, monster hot rods and excitingly creepy classic Halloween displays. The spiders took over the purple Corvair and many hair raising creatures occupied other vehicles. Thanks to everyone for providing trick-or-treating for all the youngsters.

Thanks also goes out to the Spring Street Band for providing the entertainment and adding lots of fun to the evening.

Marilyn Monroe was gracious enough to volunteer her time to pose for photos, "Thanks" Marilyn!

We simply did not have the time or room to get all the cars included in our photo shots. For those of you attending, we hope you truly enjoyed the night.

Again, we cannot "Thank" our wonderful volunteers enough. Without them, there would be no show.

This will be one of those News Letters with very little to reflect on.
I did make a run to Chick-Fil-A in Kemah this last Sat. but didn't take
any pictures, just a beautiful evening to get out and enjoy myself.
My Mustang buddy Henry Rabigo and his club made their way to the
Friday night cruise in Pearland and sent me these pictures.

I'm almost sure Niftee 50ees Halloween bash at Krogers last Saturday
had to be a record crowd with perfect weather! After this weekend the
Car Shows will pretty much fissile out with only one to three Shows
the next couple of weekends leading up to Autorama on Thanksgiving.
My Car Show List has seven events listed for this weekend. So, if the
weather is right, pick one of the seven Car Shows this weekend to show
your wheels because it will be slim pickings for the rest of the year!!!

November 13th. Is Last Evening For Cruisin' To Niftee 50ees Drive-In!!!

I've had countless folks send me this Video on the Little Red Wagon
that appears on You Tube. I thought I would share this with the folks
that have not seen it. Click here: YouTube - Radio Flyer Car

That's all I have for right now folks, y'all take care, and safe cruisin'

Before we go
As our season winds down for another year we on the other hand are already planning for 2011.

Our planning stages are already in the works and our plate is full.

In other words, our work never stops! The seasons are over lapping one another.

New offerings for next season and a few minor changes will be necessary to move forward.

We hope to catch up on items we haven't had time to work on.

Our hopes are to bring more fun and benefits to Niftee 50ees Classic Cruisers.

For those of you who believe in and support Niftee 50ees with the understanding that our efforts are truly dedicated to you our street rodders we say thank you kindly.

All of us working together will make things happen.

A fellow friend and cruiser Billy Watson brought a photo to us a few weeks ago showing one of our events when we first started in 2005.

There were just a few cars, no cones, no music, no flags, no two way radios, no police officers, and just a hand full of classic cars that started out with us.

I will scan and post the photo in the coming weeks.

We have been fortunate and we know it.

Since that time, things have changed, challenges on our end have escalated, and the work load has ever so increased.

We have good people, volunteers and fans who work hard to keep Niftee 50ees rolling with dedicated, tireless efforts of time, sweat, and loss of sleep.

I have a wonderful dedicated wife who tolerates and gives up our personal home life, and gives up her personal time to help me build a home for our classic street rodders.

A home called.. Niftee 50ees!

To her I am grateful

and most importantly..we have the best supporters and dedicated classic street rodders who love Niftee 50ees

May your life be fulfilled with happiness!

Randy Shannon

Happy Roddin!

Classic Cruise News!

October 28, 2010
by: Randy & Molly Shannon

BOO! Happy Halloween to everyone! This Saturday is Niftee 50ees Monster Halloween Cruise In. There will be live entertainment, trick or treating and lots of fun to be had by all.

Here we go again with what will more than likely be a blow out of classic cars!

Based on the response we have had there will be hundreds of classics attending the 7th Annual "Monster" Classic Car Show!

Let us remind everyone that parking will be jammed and a few advisories for those attending. Please come prepared to stay for the length of the show.

If you cannot stay the length of the event then please advise us so we can park you somewhere accessible to leave without asking everyone to move to let you out.

The bank parking lot may be your choice or somewhere at the end of the lanes. If you park in the center of the event area, then sit back and enjoy the evening, you will be there for awhile!

If you bring candy for the Trick R' Treaters than please bring individually wrapped Store Bought Candy to distribute.

The Spring Street Band will start live entertainment at approximately 8:00 pm and door prizes will start as well.

50-50 Tickets will be available at the courtesy desk.

We ask kindly that everyone have their $5.00 parking ready as you arrive.

Put a $5.00 bill on your sun visor for easy access and the young ladies will assist you.
Please, no large bills or we might just keep them. Ha! Ha!

Trying to make change only slows down everyone!

Help us, help you.

We will need to move along quickly to avoid cars stacking up and get your fees behind you so you can enjoy the evening.

Please be aware of your surroundings as you arrive and depart in a safe and orderly manner as there will be more spectators and children than usual.

Respect your fellow rodders near you.

We will do our best to get you securely parked as quickly as possible.

Absolutely no saving spaces at this event.

Parking together? Arrive together and let us know how many will be in your party.

There are no promises but we'll do our best.

Bring jackets or wind breakers for those who might need to break the chill later in the evening. Just in case, so come prepared for the evening.

Costumes welcome!

Come be a kid again..have fun!

-Randy and Molly

Planes and more Planes at the Wings Over Houston featuring the
Thunderbirds this year. This is my fourth year to volunteer, as
with hundreds of other folks, taking time out of their lives to help
being a part of one of the BEST air shows in the country. In my
two days there this weekend I was able to click off about 1500
shots. Of those 1500, I condensed them down to 300 in the link
below. I know that my news letter usually pertains to just cars,
trucks & bikes, but once a year I make an exception. For the first
time this year at the show, they had some Classic Firebirds on
display by the "No Name Club of Houston". One of the Classic
Firebirds got sick and he replaced it with his yellow Corvette!!!
Also on display was a Funny Car, and Top Fuel Dragster by Perry
Haddock Racing. Like at the Drag Strip, when they cranked one of
these bad boys up it drew a crowd.
The Wings Over Houston Air Show proceeds are used to sponsor the
Wings Over Houston Scholarship Program for college students
studying for careers in aviation, Aviation Career Education (ACE)
Summer Academy for high school juniors and seniors interested in
aviation, Commemorative Air Force aircraft restoration and flying
historical programs, Exchange Club of Sugar Land, Rotary Club, and
many other area non-profit groups.
For those of you that are strictly into cars and not planes go to PAGE
7 to view the Classic Firebirds & Dragsters, the rest of you folks, enjoy
the Air Show pictures.

"ONLY 3 WEEKENDS LEFT" For all the procrastinators out there
that have been wanting to take your wheels or just visit the Niftee
50ees Drive-In at Kroger's is coming to a fast closing date on
November 13th. It will go down as one hell of a ride for six years
at Kroger's and Randy & Molly are already preparing for 2011 year
with an opening at Vintage Park on Saturday, March 5th.

I have some pictures sent to me by my good friend Brad Senter who
was able to make the Breast Cancer Car Show at Mall of the Mainland.
He took pictures of about 25+ collection cars at this worthily car event.

pictures of yours. Brian just finished the pictures that he took at our
car show, the Space City Cruisers Fall Car Show. If you would like to

Cars of Dreams (this is 9 minutes long, but worth it)
Below is a link to a video of an episode of Tail Fins and Chrome
about a private museum named "Cars of Dreams" in North Palm
Beach, Florida, owned by John Staluppi (originally from Brooklyn).

It contains his personal collection of over 100 Classic American
Automobiles displayed in a nostalgic setting...sadly, it is not
opened to the general public, he only opens it 3 times a year for
special charitable events.

November 13th. Is Last Evening For Cruisin' To Niftee 50ees Drive-In!!!

In closing, it was a great weekend for an air show, but I'm sitting here
pealing the skin off my nose and ears, damn sun did a job on my ol'
head!! We are coming down to the end of the year, but we still have a
lot of car shows left until the middle of the November. AutoRama will
pretty much close out the year on Thanksgiving weekend but the Cruise
Nights will continue in Pearland and Kemah as weather permits. Ya'll
be good, and Safe Cruisin wherever your wheels take you!!

"Camaro Kid"

Before we go....

We wish everyone and safe and Happy Halloween!

Take care of your pets as this holiday celebration is not pet friendly. The sights and sounds of trick-or-treaters, horns, rattle toys and screams of ghosts and goblins will likely frighten pets. Black cats are also a target so keep them out of harms way.

Thanks from all of us at Niftee 50ees !

Happy Roddin!

The mile long + Street Cruise from Ron Craft to Raceway Park for Super Chevy
included some of the finest cars from Rods, Rats, Classic Originals ever to hit
the street Baytown at one time! This had to be one amazing photo opt for
everyone on the side of the streets, except for me, hard to take pictures while
you are driving. If any one has a picture or two of the long snake of cars in the
Street Cruise, please send them to me, and I'll add them to the slide show that
is in the link below. They were expecting only about 60 cars to show up, but
the Houston area Cruisers sure gave them a surprise with 200 plus cars!!!
I'm sure some folks were disappointed that we didn't make the Street Cruise
down Texas Ave. through downtown Baytown! They had to cancel that idea
because of only having four motorcycle police escorts. Still enjoyed in being
part of this first time Street Cruise, S*** happens, but it did make it nice to
drive straight into Raceway Park with every participant getting a Fast Pass to
the staging area of the track and then on to the Show area. The show was
exceptional, and the rain never did appear like it had in past shows, but damn
it was HOT! Their was no shortage of Chevrolet's, and even a couple of Fords
with Chevy power, "sometimes you have to do, what you have to do"! LOL
In my opinion, the spectator attendance was way down, but with the
management making it very clear that Super Chevy will be back next year, along
introduced this January of 2011, the attendance should get better.
Enjoy the slide show presentation in the link below, and I hope you know by
now that in photobucket you can revert back to the Album of Pictures if the
slide show doesn't suit you!!! I took a lot of photo's of my good friend and
co-worker from Union Carbide Bill Bratsen and his son Brent Bratsen, Driver
of their really nice 69 Yellow Camaro convertible. With all the pictures I took,
I made a slide show inside a slide show in this presentation. In the two days
I was there, I took pictures of there car from three advantage points, from the
tower, in the bleachers, and right at the starting line, ground level. It will take
you from the staging area to going through the lights at the far end of the
track. So look for that and Y'all enjoy!!!

It was a hot day but a lot of nice looking cars showed up for the special event.

Please post this to your car club. Sue Smith suggested I contact you guys.

Cars needed for TCI Fest this Saturday! We still need 10 to 15 cars for our festival this weekend. Entrance includes 4 free passes to the Texas Celebrity Impersonators Festival. There will be live music by tribute artists including the Blues Brothers Tribute, Vince King's 'Visions of Elvis' tribute, Ray Covey's 'Memories of Elvis' Tribute, Kristey Casey as Marilyn Monroe, Barbara Ackles as Bette Midler, Billy Wayde's 'Mirror Image of Elvis' tribute, and David Born will be MC'ing the event. David is a nationally booked Robin Williams impersonator.

We will have rides and inflatables for the kids, Beer, Margaritas, and Strawberry Daquaries, shopping vendors, kids and adult impersonator contests, and we have advertised this as a large costume party so many of the attendees will be dressed up as their favorite celebrity.

We will have a few of our impersonators on 'Great Day Houston' Wednesday morning at 9am on KHOU. This should be a very popular event! Just think about all the interesting people that will want their picture taken with your car!

Please email me if you would like to bring your car out to our festival. We will have the cars roped off. Next year I plan for this to be a full blown car show with cash prizes and trophies but we are on a limited budget this being our first year. Please help us out! Thanks

Sincerely, Matt

Have a great weekend!

Niftee 50ees
Classic Cruise News!

September 9, 2010
by: Randy Shannon

Hello Cruisers! We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

The Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In was in full swing this past Saturday night as the temperatures were refreshingly cooler for the evening.

As always it's good to see everyone enjoying a fun, family cruise night.

This weekend there are plenty of shows, racing, rod run cruises, and cruise nights to choose from.

Please review our sources on our Car Show Flier section of the web and see the choices available near the bottom of the newsletter.

This weekend we will again be at our regular scheduled Saturday night Cruise night and then on Sunday we will be at Ainsley Courte Assisited Living Center to bring a little joy to the senior citizens and smiles to many.

As always, Louetta Automotive will provide the food, plagues and Bingo for the elderly while Niftee 50ees will be there for the oldies and announcements joining in with our fellow rodders.

Bring lawn chairs and come hungry!

We need approximately 25 cars that would like to attend and show our seniors the cars of the past to reflect a better time in their lives.

Please R.S.V.P. with your attendance.

We need approximately 20 more cars for Sunday!

HMP News!
by: John Mandabach
This Saturday, the Texas Auto Pro Mods will rip HMP apart! It’s becoming the who’s who of the fastest match racers and drag racers in Texas with 19 confirmed Auto Pro Mods so far! Confirmed racing are:

6. Eric Clark - Procharged Firebird

7. Cory Wheat - Nitrous Camaro

8. Chuck Poindexter - Blown Beretta

9. Joe Butler - Nitrous Firebird

10. Gaylon Gradick - Nitrous 63 Corvette

11. Horace Cormier/Twins Performance/ Roy James - Nitrous Firebird

12. Conrad Ignosiak - Nitrous Beretta

16. Richard Willet - Nitrous Firebird

17. Mel "Peanut" Jackson - Nitrous Camaro

18. Eric Miller "The Hater Maker" - Nitrous Camaro

19. Alfred Whiteside "Da Dog" - Nitrous Camaro

It’s going to be a Dallas vs Houston Quick 8 for eliminations!

Also, depending on how cars qualify, this could be the much anticipated Roy James vs Rat Daddy match race that has been talked about for almost a year now. Ratt Daddy held the title of Mr. HMP with the TXDRL for about a year and many said the only one capable of knocking him off was Roy James. We may just find out the truth on September 11th at HMP.

In addition, S&S racing will have six index classes on hand running head to head. This should be a great day of awesome heads up drag racing.

Gates open at 5pm and racing starts at 7pm. Children 12 and under are free. $1 Beer! $1 Hot Dogs! $1 Cokes!

The weather God's opened up the sky's for one of Alvin-Manvel's Best
Car shows EVER! Their was no luck involved putting this Festival to-
gether, it was all well orchestrated by all those involve. Just can't say
enough about Brad Richards & Jerry Barnett (show coordinators), their
volunteers, for the hard work that went into making this car show a
great success. It's going to be hard to top this one folks, but challenges
is what keeps us producing bigger and better shows. Hat's off to y'all,

This week I would like to spot light a person, along with his family, that
most of you already know that has made an impression on the Hot Rod
and Classic Car community. David Strom Sr. the O'Reilly Auto Parts
Director of Region 5 Houston,Tx. is one of us folks that burns the candle
at both ends, and still keeps on ticking like a Swiss Watch.

When he isn't working his day job you
will find him at their shop helping son David Jr. brother Kenny, other
family members, and friends in bringing a Rat Rods or Classic Cars back
to life. David just returned from Pleasanton, Calf. Good Guys Show, where
he took about 700+ pictures and sent me the Link to the pictures with a
little write up. Please give the pictures time to come up, those gremlins

in your computer are working as fast as they can to bring up all pictures.

A Note From David:
I had the opportunity to attend the Good Guys-West Coast Nationals
in Pleasanton California. Last weekend. The event took place August
27-29. The venue was absolutely beautiful. Most pleasant weather of
low 50's in the morning and 70ish in the afternoon. Plenty of lawn and
shade trees, ample indoor display area, more than enough clean rest
rooms and lots of Hot Rods! There was an estimate of over 3500 cars
and I would say there was that plus some. I feel that I only saw about
1/2 of them. There was a great showing of vendors as well.

This is one of those events that all "Car Guys and Gals" should attend.

Below is a note from Mark Richards in need of a few cars for his Local realtors.
Mark has donated his time and money in putting together some benefit Car
Shows for folks that really needed help. I'm from the old school, you scratch my
back I'll scratch yours. In writing this note to y'all, I will make myself available
with my old beat up Corvette, and I'm asking, if you can take a couple hours of
your time to help Mark. Mark is a car guy and understands that if the weather
is uncooperative on that date, we won't leave the house. Looking for some local
yocals that don't have to drive to far from point A to point B. The location is the
subdivision that is in behind HEB store at I-45 & FM-646 rd.

As Always Thank you for your time

I hope all is well with you and your family! man, I have not seen you since the Bay View Show. I am needing a favor, if you can help. I am having a get together for some local realtors on September 23, 2010 from 4-6p.m. Chesmar Homes would like to have a few cars on display for a couple of hours. We can provide food and drinks for the car participants. I am looking for at least 5 cars if at all possible. It will not be a car show, just a fun event to show off the cars. If you can send this to your contact list I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,

Mark Richards

Before we go..

Fellow rodder Ken Anderson passed away last Tuesday and our prayers and thoughts are with the family members with their loss.

It is our understanding that Ken was in the final stages of his latest project Rat Rod to display at Niftee 50ees before the tragedy.

A reminder to everyone of us that life is a gift and it should be enjoyed for the time we have.

We should also remember that today's friends can be gone tomorrow.

Be kind to one another, thank your friends, and do your part to help the cause you find important in your life.

Help a friend when you can..

We hope to see everyone this Saturday night at Niftee 50ees!

Happy Roddin!

Niftee 50ees
Classic Cruise News!

September 1, 2010
by: Randy Shannon

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Hello Rodders,

It's hard to believe another season at Niftee 50ees is now rounding the back stretch and lining up to a final 6th season of cruise nights!

There are 11 scheduled weekends left for the season at Kroger's and the Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In on Saturday nights.

We are being asked for show events at several other locations and or "Pop Up" events around the community.

We will see what we can handle and possibly keep everyone posted as to where we will be and fill what request we can.

It has been a rather warm summer and our hats off to those who have attended the events each and every weekend in the heat. Very true rodders I must admit but the way we see it is to enjoy all you can while you can.

The Niftee 50ees sound machine will be at the Long Horn Rod and Custom Show in Old Town Spring again this year to be a part of this annual event.

We hope many will plan on being there again for this two day event!

We would like to send our thanks to Dale Russel and the entire members of the event for inviting us to do the honors with the Good Time Oldies music and to participate in the event.

Come out, support and be a part of the legend showing in Old Town Spring!

Other News / Feedback

Hi Randy,
I was great seeing you again last week Saturday. Your car show sure is doing great.
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your announcement about the Texas Honor Ride. We’re competing with a lot of other car shows on Sept 25th so we need all the promo that we can get. I was really impressed with the way you read our flyer for just a few seconds and picked out all the high points for your announcement.
I finally got a chance to see about getting our flyer on your “Flyer” page and I see it’s already there. I’m assuming you went ahead and did that. Thank you very much for doing that.
Thank you so much for supporting the Texas Honor Ride and our wounded heroes,
Terry Muilenberg
President, Texas Honor Ride

Help Wanted

My name is Robin Vela and I am the fund raising coordinator for the Schultz Elementary PTO.

We are hosting a fall festival on Oct. 22 from 6-9pm, and would like to have a few cars there just for the kids to see.

If there is anyone that you think would be interested in coming could you please give them my contact info. Also not sure if you know this guy but there is a guy driving around this area in a Lamborghini with super heroes on it we would like to have him as well as other cars like that.

We only have room for about 5 or 6 cars total. If you could assist us that would be awesome. There will be no fees or contest its just for show.
Thanks and I will wait to hear from you.

Well, the Home Depot parking lots at both Pearland and Kemah are filling
up as to a hint of cool evenings that are approaching. September should
make for some nice cruises to all Cruise-In Nights all over the Houston &
Galveston areas.
I finally made my way to Pearland's Friday Night Cruise-In after trying to
make this for over two years. Met up with one of the original organizers
of the Cruise Night, Glenn Hill, and some of his volunteers. Of course
our conversation always comes down, "how are things going"? Glenn is
on the same page as the Miller Family that over see the Chick-Fil-A
Sat. Cruise-In, in Kemah. If someone isn't there to keep a handle on some
folks, things will get out of control, and in the end, everyone else will
suffer the consequences of finding a new cruise location. Glenn Hill
and the Mike Miller family with all their volunteers also need y'all's help
in keeping a handle on things around you, at both Cruise-In locations.
Always use the politeness approach to everyone, in getting your
message across to them, that, "This is not allowed on these premises"!
I know, like myself, and with all my cruisin' buddies we keep an eye out
for each others precious rides in keeping spectators having the irresistible
urge of touching them. Us older folks, were taught in our upbringing, that,
"if it doesn't belong to you, you don't touch it" or "If you can't afford to
buy it, don't touch it". Okay enough of this, I think y'all know where
I'm coming from!!! As always, I want to send out a special THANKS to
Glenn Hill & the Mike Miller Family and all their helpers for devoting there
time to secure a safe and enjoyable environment for EVERYONE!!
Below is not only a link to my pictures of Pearland's Cruise-In but also
from my good friend and photographer Brian Starr, pictures of both
Pearland & Kemah Cruise-In pictures at his Web Site. Thank you Brian,
your pictures always have a different perspective look through the lens!
I took a break from taking pictures at Chick-Fil-A so I could relax and
kick some tires myself, look for the Car Boat in Brian's Kemah pictures!!

As we have mentioned in many previous newsletters, we receive hundreds of emails from our readers and friends alike.

As always, we appreciate everyone's input and feedback as it keeps us going.

Some items we would like to remind our readers is to make sure you take time to honor our fighting soldiers who are defending our freedom while many of us forget
their time and sacrifices, so we may all enjoy our freedoms.

Keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they serve our country.

Fly the flag in their honor and if you see them, be sure to thank them!

God Bless our troops serving.. and those that have fallen.

We all need to bring back the "Patriotism" we have all taken for granted.

In closing, be sure to enjoy your street rod and build it the way you like it.

After all it is your project, your money, and your ideas.

You may not please the next guy however..

Have fun and enjoy the ride!

Happy Roddin!
