Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In
By: Randy Shannon
All of us at Niftee 50ees hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend holiday!
The afternoon showers came and went leaving us with a cool evening for all the rodders that came and stayed to enjoy another Saturday night at the Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In.
Thanks for your attendance although many did get wet as the showers blessed us at the very beginning and ultimately affected our attendance somewhat.
This weekend the weather looks like rain on Saturday and our show will be pending the forecast as we head into the Saturday and Sunday.
Please keep checking our web site main page for updates on the "Ticker Tape Scroll" for changes in show status. Everything looks "Iffy" for now and will await to see if the rains come early, late, or all day status.
The Ainsley Court assisted living car show for Sunday is pending also with the weather conditions for Sunday.
We have had only 2 R.S.V.P.'s acknowledging their intended attendance for this Sunday which will be decided by forecast.
Kathy in Distress
A few weeks back we sent out a plea for help with Kathy's request to find the owner of the car below. She lost his number and if anyone knows who owns this car, please contact Kathy at the number below.
An updated letter reveals to us that any 50's style cruiser would work just fine that maybe would be Turquoise, Black and White, or Silver.
She is willing to pay $70.00 an hour and will need to this car to escort newly weds to and from the wedding. The date is October 10, 2009.
If someone can help locate this person or would like to offer assistance with her plea, than please contact her very soon!
Randy, Here’s a picture of the car. I talked to it’s owner at the 7/25 Astros game, but lost his number. We wanted him to drive us for 2 hours on Saturday 10/3 for our wedding (all within Houston). But if there’s another car like it that you’d recommend w/ a teal/turquoise color, I’d love to talk to that guy.
Thanks so much for your help!

Randy, Thanks for taking a minute to help me…I really appreciate it! I was trying to reach the owner of Teal/turquoise Chevy (I believe a 55 or 54). I believe his name Art. I talked to him at the Astros game on 7/25 and lost his phone #. I was asking him about driving us around on 10/3.
Thanks,
Kathy Williams

Thank you Jerry Barnett for sending a write up and pictures of the Alvin
car and bike show last Saturday!
I put a piece in this news letter on flying our American flag this Friday
September 11th in memory of all the folks who lost their lives 9/11/01.
Also, a video was sent to me to pass on to y'all, in hopes of saving
lives on our highways while texting or talking on a cell phone. I have
a few words of my own before watching this very graphic video.
With this in mind, please drive responsively, and safe cruisin' everyone!

Alvin/Manvel Chamber Car Show Sat. Sept. 5th.
Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce Route 6 Rendezvous Car & Bike Show
was a big success last Saturday. At final count 122 cars and bikes
entered the show. In spite of a weather forecast that called for 50%
chance of rain, the threat never materialized and everyone enjoyed a
great day. Brad Richards and Connie Elies did an excellent job of
putting this event together and are to be commended for making this
event one of the premier car shows in the area. The feedback I got from
participants was 100% positive and I heard several comments about how
much everyone enjoys Alvin car shows in National Oak Park. The next
major car and bike show will be the Alvin Rotary Club's Novemberfest Car
& Bike Show in National Oak Park on November 14th. We hope to see you
all there! I have uploaded photographs of this event and the Rotary
Club's Frontier Day Car and Bike Show to my web site. The links are:

FLY THE AMERICAN FLAG
On Friday, September 11th. 2009, an American flag should be displayed
outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States.
Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on
this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do
this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families,
friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who
today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.
In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed
in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood
shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all
but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and
it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our
American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail
over terrorism of all kinds.
TEXTING WHILE DRIVING
I think that this is an appropriate Video put together by the British Government and it is a shame that people do not take this as seriously as they should even here in the USA. Anything that distracts you from driving can cause the same consequences texting or using a cell phone. I wish EVERYONE could view a video of themselves on a cell phone from behind, they wouldn't believe it was them, weaving in and out of their own lane, slowing down then speeding up, or just set at a green light until someone blows their horn. Please take the time to send this video to a friend, daughter, son, or any family member. Hugging a casket for one day, is nothing like
hugging a real live love one everyday!!!
