Classic Cruise News!
By: Randy Shannon

April 28, 2010

Attendance hit 309 Classic Street Rods this past Saturday night at Niftee 50ees.

Several new rides visited for the first time and we welcome all that attended.

A beautiful weekend of Street Roddin' was enjoyed by all.

Parking

A friendly reminder to all our fellow rodders that parking at the weekly events is provided for you through our lease agreement at the shopping center.

We try to accommodate everyone and their fellow club members or friends the best we can but realize that some nights are busier than others.

With this in mind we ask all participants to assemble in a mannerly order and lets try to arrive together if you wish to park together.

We simply cannot reserve spaces for late arrivals and hold spots when others are looking for spaces to get safely parked.

In addition lets work and respect fellow group settings as car members try to park together although it will depend on the volume we have on any given night.

There are NO guarantees of special parking or designated spots but we will try our best to make sure everyone is as close to fellow friends as possible.

Again, if you want to park together arrive together and we will do our best.
We have stressed this many times

Tell the door greeter if you are all together so we can attempt to prepare the appropriate amount of spaces. It may not be where you wish to park every weekend but we will do our best.

Let us try and explain that we have to work with the tenants and property management with parking.

The secured coned area reserved for Maxx Tan and Message Envy is in accordance with our lease to provide their customers with parking until closing time and we must reserve a certain area for them during business hours.

Maxx Tan closes at 7 pm
Message Envy at 6 pm

All rodders should refrain from parking in these areas marked for these businesses until their closing.

Starbucks has given us most of all their parking lot to help with the situation.

As you can see we are faced with ever growing challenges and ask our street rodders for your assistance.

Our request for a deferred show time of 30 minutes helps us to clear out the parking for these customers and allow our later arrivals a place to park as the spaces become vacant.

We do realize many try to come early to get a good spot or favorite spot.

We have no real problems on a slower night but on busy nights we are challenged enormously.

In summary, those that arrive early will be asked to park in the outer skirts or in the Starbuck's parking area first.

Thank's to everyone for your cooperation and understanding.

We are working to make sure everyone has a place to go on a Saturday night.

Everyone I talked to Saturday was fighting the Pollen in the air, but the weather was
absolutely excellent for the Alvin Rotary Club Frontier Day Car Show. Spectators were
everywhere because of not only the interest in the Car Show, but for the Arts & Crafts,
OK Corral Shoot 'm up, and the Carnival of rides for the kiddies. Congratulations to
SCC Tom Fulmer for walking away with Best of Show with his 2004 Red Corvette.

I came across something that the lady folks might enjoy doing while traveling to Car
Shows. A new thing going around is personalizing a blanket with pictures of the Car
Show Shirts printed right on to the blanket.

Linda Richards (Brad's Muffler) was proud
to show off her blanket Car Show Blanket with already 7 pictures of Car Show prints
that she has been too, including the Alvin show in the middle. Of course not all car
shows print their shirts from a mobile trailer but Linda carries the blanket with her all
the time just in case they do.

Thank you Linda for sharing!!!

What an Awesome time had by all at the Ronald McDonald's House 21st. Birthday Party. Murdoch's was also celebrating it's 100 years in Galveston with it's newly constructed pier after total destruction by Hurricane Ike. All the top wigs of Galveston County was at this function in support for the Ronald McDonald House. Good Food, Good Music,Good folks, Good weather, and a variety of Classic Cars and Rods made for exceptional evening for everyone. It just doesn't get any better then this folks. The picture at the end of the album depicts how nice it really was. That orange ball just over the right shoulder of Steve Newsom (band leader, Member of the Houston Area Chevrolet Club) is the Moon rising out of the Gulf as the lights go down. I rushed putting this together so as to get it out to my buddy Randy Shannon with Niftee 50ees News Letter. Y'all enjoy the pictures, and Safe Cruisin' wherever you go this weekend.

To Our Fellow Street Rodders,

Week three at the Classic Drive In was another great night as many Street Rodders arrived to share old times and review the new arrivals on new rods for the year.

Our thanks to many observing the temporary new show times which helps us with congestion to the open businesses.

Show times 6:30 - 10:00 pm

Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep everyone happy with all parties concerned.

We will be watching the weather for this weekend and hope that Mother Nature works her magic for our Street Rodders sake.

We wish everyone a wonderful weekend of fun and continued happiness for the new cruise season.

I have a request from a future rodder to find a 1955 Chevy panel station wagon if anyone knows where one is.

Some refer to it as a delivery wagon

Car should be in restored condition. The one on our site recently sold.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Randy Shannon

Camaro Kid News Letter
Tuesday April 20th. 2010

Weather men's forecast for Sat April 17th. was rain, but after watching the radar on the computer for a couple of hours I made the decision to take the old Corvette instead of my want-at-be truck! One way or another I was going to make this Space City Cruiser Fun Run in memory of Lady Lion Loretta Dock. WOW, what a prefect day to air out this old bald head of mine and venture out to places I've never been before on this run, "the weather men blew this one". "Where Dat" was an accurate description of the run, because most of us didn't have a clue where we were and even at one point I wasn't sure I could find my way back home. For those of you that were scared off by the prediction of rain, missed the best fun run (poker run) ever! I made up a map for photobucket to show where all the participating businesses are located that we visited with information about the SCC Fun Run. I have found for best viewing of photos is to click on Slide Show in the upper right hand corner of the screen. I could talk forever about this run, but the pictures kinda give you an accurate depiction of how much fun everyone was having.

While I was trying to figure out where I was, Brain Starr was well aware where he was!!! Brain was busy at the Friendswood Chamber Car Show taking some fantastic pictures. The attendance was also down at this show because of the scare of showers for the day. I work at taking my pictures but for Brain, it looks like it all comes natural for him, I can definitely learn from this guy. Enjoy Brain's eye catching pictures in the link below!! Thank you Brain, good job buddy!

Our thanks to the Mustang Club of Houston for their support and extra bodies at last week's show. The team pitched in to assist with parking the cars and offering security at our entrances and courtesy booth.

Their assistance was greatly appreciated!

The Niftee 50ees Classic Drive In completed week number 2 at Kroger's with another great turn out of street rodders!

We hope everyone that attended the Lone Star Round up in Austin had a wonderful trip and we welcome you back to Houston.

Please Note that we are temporarily moving the show time to start at 6:30PM until further notice.

We ask all rodders to please refrain from coming earlier and earlier each week before the show times are alotted.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation with our request in advance.

In Memory of Dan Pike

Our deepest sympathy to Dan's wife, Denise, the family and friends as they mourn the loss of their beloved husband, father and friend.

Dan passed away Monday morning and will be missed at our events but we know in spirit he will remain.

Please keep Dan's family in your thoughts and prayers.

We are thankful that Dan was able to finish his very nice custom 56 Ford and attend our events during the brief time of his completed project.

Ford T-Bird Fans!

Hey Randy,

This is Hope Elms. My father has a beautiful 1965 Special Laundau Thunderbird...all original with only 26,000 miles. It has a 390, beautiful white pearl interior, carpet is great, dash is perfect, has a breakaway steering wheel and everything is immaculate. This is the only year that the Ember Glow was used on the Tbird. It is really beautiful. The only updates have been exterior paint and a new vinyl top.

He is letting it go for $14,000 or best offer....but someone is very interested in it at the moment. If you know of anyone who would like to see it...it is at 32003 Nichols Sawmill Road in Magnolia. This is our shop address.

I am getting married April 18th. and am hoping you can help me find an amazing getaway vehicle. I don't know if you, or any members of Space City Cruisers would have something we can rent for the day. Most things we find on line are all newer, exotic cars, and we like the more classic ones. If you have any ideas, or perhaps can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

Saturday January 8th. 2011

Hi my name is Lisa and I need classic antique car for my wedding. I am trying to plan things ahead of time. Our wedding is January 8, 2011 down in Galveston.

We are getting married at 5:30 and would like the car from the church to the reception and then from the reception to the hotel. Everything is within a couple miles. Would be a total of 6 hours but not solid because there would be a break during the reception.

We are coming down to Galveston this summer in June. We live up in the Fort Worth area. Would possibly like to meet with someone who would be interested in this when we are down in June.

Thanks so much!! Hopefully I can get some leads on this!!

Space City Cruisers News

Didn't make it to any car shows this weekend, most of my time was spent at Houston Raceway Park watching 8,000 horsepower Top Fuel Dragsters slingshot down there quarter mile track at 3.75 seconds/322 Miles Per Hour . If it wasn't for a couple of fine folks sending me some pictures I wouldn't have much to pass on to ya'll out there!

John Bockelman made a trip to the Home Depot's Friday Night Cruise-In, I want to say in Pearland. His pictures are at his own album site, so it made it kinda easy to transfer them on to ya'll with the magic of coping and pasting.
Henry Rabago, with the Space City Cruisers, ventured out to Alvin's Crawfest Car Show Saturday knowing that it was going to rain. He wasn't the only one, he said their were about 40 other die hard's there also.

Thank you guys, "JOB WELL DONE" very nice photo's of everyone's rides!

John Bockelman here. I have enjoyed your emails tremendously! Thought I'd send over a link to the pictures I took yesterday evening at the Home Depot on 518 at Dixie Farm Road in Friendswood (before it got too dark). 71 photos, all are welcome to share.

I'm a Phantom Kruizer and I play in Pee Wee's band. Thanks for including me in your e-mails, hope you enjoy the pics! Space City Cruisers are awesome.

Crawfest Car Show April 10th. Alvin, Tx.
Well the weather man sure missed this one. Denny, Cindy and I rode down to the Alvin Car Show . The show brought about 40 cars out. There was no help from mother nature this weekend. It rained all day on us. Every time you would think it was ending, dry down your car and bam here comes the rain again. We stuck it out to the end. Thank God for the good crawfish and gumbo they were serving. Had a good time by all. Here are some picutres of the trucks and cars from the show.
Enjoy.

Some More Pictures Of Car Show In Alvin!!

The show was great. We battled the rain all day long, but it didn't stop most of us. It would rain just enough to wet the cars, and stop just long enough for everyone to wipe them down again. Then, another shower followed. There were about 40 or so of us that stuck it out to the end. All in all, it was fun. I met a lot of great people and seen some interesting cars that I had not seen before. The food was excellent. Crawfish is always tasty, but it was the gumbo that had me going back for more. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next shows that follow.

SCC FUN RUN, "WHERE DAT"

April 17th. Sat. WHERE DAT?? FUN RUN by Space City Cruisers-- All Money Collected
Will Be Donated To The Texas Lions Camp In Memory of Lady Lion Loretta Dock. Door
Prizes, Raffles. Registration at 9:30am & leave at 10:30 from Kelly's on 518 in League City
Click here: 04-17-10 WHERE DAT?? FUN RUN By Space City Cruisers

We hope to raise lots of money for the camp. 100% of the money raised will go directly
to the Lions Camp in Loretta's memory. All prizes, trophies, etc will either be donated or purchased by a club member. If you can find anyone who wants to donate something
to raffle, or as door prizes, please let me know and I can send them a donation letter.
(see attachment for this donation letter)

The "theme" of the run is "Where DAT???" Part of the fun and "adventure" of the event
is being led to the different places--if we announce the locations beforehand, there will
be little or no surprises. That is why the flier says that the stops and directions to them
will be provided at registration.
We intend to introduce participants to "out of the way" Texas Ice Houses that many,
if not most have not heard of or been to. All are in the Galveston/Brazoria area, but
most are not on major highways. The places themselves are all clean, safe and
patronized by locals in the Hitchcock and Santa Fe area. The total trip is around
50 miles.

Since these places sell alcohol, we designed the route to begin with a food
establishment (Kelley's). At the third stop, snacks will be provided and the last stop, sells burgers and other fast food type items.

I hope this helps in at least partially answering questions that are directed to you
concerning the run.

THANK YOU!!

Thanks For Your Help

I dont know where they parked them all but based on the amount of people walking through the fair grounds they put them some where. Check out all the pictures at http://www.hotrodchat.com/gallery/

Those attending the Space City Cruisers Car Show on Saturday are welcome to attend our Saturday night opener if you are up to it after a long day.

CAMARO KID NEWS LETTER
Tuesday March 30, 2010
By: Bob Wright

It definitely was the right call on someone's part to pull the plug with a Rain Out for the American Pontiac Association Car Show in Galveston and moved it to the following weekend. The weather was absolutely picture prefect and the turn out of Classic Cars filled up pier 21. The Space City Cruisers rolled in with 12 cars in their caravan from League City. I anticipated a jam packed pier like last year, but I guess their was just to many other car shows in the workings on the same day as this show. The sailing ship Allisa, the tall ship of Texas was at the end of the pier when we arrived, but she left shortly after that. I have a few pictures of her leaving from the pier for a cruise out in and around Gulf. A couple of new kids on the block, like the Red 1959 Chevrolet, first time to show her!
Enjoy the pictures and see ya'll next weekend Sat. April 3rd.at Space City Cruisers Spring Car Show at Walter Hall Park in League City, Tx.

Letter From Margie Chavarria
On Wednesday, April 28, 2010 the Ronald McDonald House will celebrate with the Galveston landmark Murdoch's the anniversary of their 100 years in operation and our 21st birthday. We're getting ready for a "seaside soiree" event on the Seawall at Murdoch's (22nd - 23rd & Beach) with lots of good food and great music with a little of nostalgia thrown in. We're closing the Seawall for this event.

We need your help to make it happen! Since Hurricane Ike we have focused on repairing our "House that Love built" and making sure the families have a safe and comfortable environment to come to while their child undergoes treatment in an area facility. Our families come from all over the world to us and now we are asking for your help to keep our House strong.

We would like to know if it is at all possible for The Space City Cruisers to bring 8 to 10 cars to our event starting with the oldest cars to maybe 1940. We would like to have at least 2 cars that are 21 years old in honor of our birthday. We want all our children we serve to grow strong and healthy and to one day, love turning 21 too!

The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. but we would like the cars to arrive by 5:30 p.m. in order to place them. The seawall will probably shut down around 4 p.m. and we are going to try and set up immediately. Their is no rain date. We are praying for good weather.

If you need any additional information please let me know and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Thank you for making this possible for all the children we serve.

Sincerely

Margie Chavarria

Conroe Cruisers News

Hi Randy, Molly.

We are Mike and Sandy Stewart, and have been on your site and noticed you
do not have a Glass Co in your Vender pages.

We are located in Conroe TX and have cut (hot rod flat glass)
for years and now in the process of making patterns and cutting
glass for Roy here in Conroe.

He advised me to contact you and let you know about us.
We are a family owned and operated business. IWe also sell flatglass
on e-bay and have sent glass to all of the lower 48 states.
With my experance on ebay and local car buffs in Alvin TX
We have decided to offer customers a way to get only the glass thay need,
Instead of selling complete sets. We have had a lot of interest in only
one or two pieces of glass.

This brings me to this offer:

If anyone in your club needs glass(flat) here is the way to mesure it.
Width+2in X Height+2in /by 144 will give you the total sq feet. I will cut and polish exposed edges
for $15.00 a sq ft. One sq ft min.

This price is only for patterns I don't have.

As you can tell I want patterns.
So a wing vent less than one sq ft woulf be $15.00 cut and polished.
Here is the catch and I guess you were waiting for it!!

Customer traces the old glass on butcher paper
sends it to Hot rod flat glass 15396 Tree Monkey Rd. Conroe, TX Our phone number is 936-264-1196
I would appreciate if you would pass this to you club members.

We will see if we can make contact at
show night in Houston. I have references from other hot rodders if needed.

Or see seller hotrodflatglass on ebay

Thanks For your time
Mike and Sandy Stewart

We would like additional feedback from our car owners if you wish to pursue this venture in the future or move on.

I have been assured from the college that additional improvements will be added to better serve the street rodders if we can tell them of our needs and request.

Please respond to me directly with your thoughts and suggestions as they wish to make this an annual event.

Special Edition

Fellow Street Rodders,

We are fast approaching Tech Fest 2010 and our attempt to provide our fellow rodders with one of the largest outdoor gatherings of Classic Street Rods, Hot Rods, Classic Cars and Race Cars to the Houston area!

After five months of planning, changes, updates and exhausting work with many hours and midnight oil, we welcome ALL classic cars to Tech Fest 2010.

The facility will come alive with the roar of engines, glistening chrome, fenderskirts, headers, fat tires, and excitement to bring rodders from near and far to assemble for this gathering.

We hope our efforts will bring you to join us for this planned event that will house approximately 1,000 cars. Not sure we can muster up that many but, the accomodations are there for you!

If we gather 500 to 600 then we will be just as proud of our street rodders for their efforts to bring such an event. The parking lot(s) await you.

We expect terrific weather conditions for our Spring Opener and we wanted to show our appreciation for the Classics in Texas!

Our special thanks to Carl Schulty and his staff for their support from Competition Sales of Houston, Pasadena and their extra work in putting the exhibitors together for us which will enhance our efforts to bring you fun and also update you with the latest products to the street rod world.

Wonderful people here!

Our thanks to ALL exhibitors and manufacturer reps who will be attending.

Our thanks also to Lone Star College-North Harris for giving us the huge parking facility with the help and planning of Allen Rice who has worked closely with us on the planned event.

We expect hundreds of spectators.

Also special thanks to "Skeeter" The Texas Car Doctor who will broadcast his weekly radio show live from our event on 700 AM KSEV Radio.

Most importantly our thanks to ALL the classic car owners and street rodders for your continued support to Niftee 50ees as we work to provide you with gatherings that reflect the classic age of street rodding the way we remember it best and all the nostalgiac fun that goes with it!

The "Golden Age" of Street Rodding with "Old School" is here!

Houston Astros Needs Help

By: Bill Goren

To anyone - If you own a 1965 convertible please respond if possible.

Niftee 50ees car club members,

As you know, we are weeks away from the start of the Astros 2010 season. As always we have many events and programs planned for this year. One such event is our celebration of the 1965 season on April 10th. During the pre-game ceremonies we will be featuring 5-6 classic cars.

My first thought in finding these cars was to reach out to our good friends at Niftee 50ees. You guys have always been great supporters of the team and we have always held you all in great regards.

We are looking for cars that fall in the following criteria.
Year: 1965
Seats: 4-seater
Top: Convertible

We will ask that you allow an Astros rep. drive the car around the warning track during our pre-game ceremony. Featured in the cars will be former Astros from the 1965 team.

Please contact us directly in you would like to have your car participate. We are limited on space, so please give us a call ASAP.

We receive hundreds of emails and request weekly for information, request, and input.

A special request from a reader is included.

If you can assist then please contact the person below.

This would be for the Tomball - Rosehill area to Bush Airport.

Hi, my name is Tamitha Raines and my co-worker just spoke with you via phone regarding a ride for my wedding.

I am looking to see if anyone you know is interested in picking me up from my wedding venue, Lindsay Lakes 16536 Mueschke Rd, Cypyress TX, 77433 at 11:30pm and dropping us off at intercontinental airport at the Marriot.

So roughly about an hour to 1 1/2. I would need something other than a 2 seater. I would be willing to pay $100. Let me know if you know of anybody!

Thanks,
