Classic Cruise News!
July 15, 2009
Whew!
The temperatures have been hot during the past few weeks, grass is turning yellow, sweat is an ever present reminder of the dog days of summer in Houston's humid climate!
With all that said and no one needed a reminder, we welcome everyone to our midsummer nights dream cruise in!
Classic cars braved the climbing mercury and showed in force this past weekend after the July 4th holidays and everything seemed to be back to normal as rodders arrived and discussed the old days, pulled out the lawn chairs, grabbed a bite and a cool beverage and enjoyed another Saturday night under the lights at Niftee50ees.
Visitors from Conroe and the Woodlands were present and we welcomed their visits as Molly and I saw some old school friends from Mac Arthur High School. It was nice seeing Debbie and Harvey Dowell that we haven't seen in a while.
Thanks for visiting!
Ray Withrow from Hot Rod Chat arrived and was busy visiting with fellow classic street rodders in attendance. Didn't see Amy unless I just missed her somehow in all the chaos.
Sorry, Amy..
Molly tells me to lighten up!
I think it is time I apologize for all the craziness exhibited over the past few weeks and maybe months at the shows, as extra duties have taken much of my time. To stop and visit with anyone if at all, is rather brief and sometimes blunt it seems.
It's not unusual to see me walk off in the midst of a conversation after someone is paging me on the radio. There needs to be 3 of me at any given time.
It is not my nature to ignore anyone or stop the conversation short but, it seems as though I am needed somewhere on the parking lot all during the show time and my acknowledgments may seem brief or even inconsiderate at times which I apologize to all.
I wish I could spend my time mingling and socializing in a more relaxed atmosphere. As time goes on, I see that almost all my time is spent dealing with questions, concerns, parking, upcoming events and other necessary details of the show.
I miss talking with all of you and perhaps somehow, I can get situated long enough one of these days to have the opportunity to stop and visit.
It has been brought to my attention that many think I am upset or mad about something. Not the case, just a lot of responsibility on my shoulders folks.
So, my closing statement on this subject, I ask that you continue to enjoy the show, forgive me if I appear rude, and remember I am happy you chose to attend Niftee50ees on a Saturday evening in what I hope you'll find as a fun spot to enjoy.
To make sure we provide the best show possible, it does take a bit of effort and tunnel vision for me to stay focused on the task at hand.
We love our street rodders and wish you the best in a fun filled Saturday night.
Please ignore any stress I may exhibit.
If I seem too busy, catch up with Molly and I will surely hear about it during pillow talk!
In all honesty, we have been rather light with help and when someone is missing, we do feel the void.
The shows will go on however to the best of our abilities.
Thank You in advance and do enjoy the facilities we are so lucky to have each and every Saturday evening. We do our best to make sure we have a safe, secure and clean event area. The days are long and the heat is up!
On another subject..
Thanks to all who responded to our last email as to the summer months shows.
We will take in consideration all of your thoughts and see if we can adjust our show schedule.
We reviewed other feedback forums from our archives and found that many were concerned with the weather being too COLD in the earlier months of the season and once again, left early when the sun went down or did not show until it warmed up.
Oh well..
I can only recommend our rodders to carry jackets in their street rods in the cooler months but I don't suggest we strip down to our birthday suits in the summer months.
That would surely cause some concerns with the property management I'm afraid.
I do suggest that all of our die hard rodders go inside a climate control restaurant during the extremes to either warm up or cool off when necessary.
Whether you are at home or out enjoying yourself, we all need to pay attention to heat and take care of ourselves by hydrating or moving to the coolness of indoors.
If I had to choose one or the other condition, I guess I would have to stay with the warm side of things because cold weather is not my thing.

Yes, it is almost here. Only 9 months away and yes, I am busy getting ready and lining up the Run.
I have explain why I chose to stay at the CHER-O-TEL..I do have a signed contract that we will have the atrium and places marked off to park. If you wish not to stay there I understand however, most everyone has told me it was OKAY with them. I have listed other Hotel, Motel, for you is you do not wish to stay at the HOST. All I can do is the best I can and that is what I have done. Many hours have gone in looking into other places to use. This is the ONLY HOTEL with enough parking space, a banquet room and they do have a restaurant. I hope you will reconsider...
