Date Posted: Saturday, March 08, 07:08:37pm In reply to: Babs 's message, "Al Fayed" on Tuesday, February 19, 09:35:52am Hi Babs The mention of Harrods brought back some memories as I worked there for 18 months in the late '50's when I left the sea. I was employed in the wine-cellar and the store used to give us a tumbler full of Harrods Amontillado sherry at 10.00am break and again at 3pm in the naive belief it would stop us 'tasting' other exotic brews. We had two hungarians working there from the 1956 hungarian-revolution and between them they virtually decimated the store's entire supply of Bulls Blood for discerning tipplers at xmas!! The evenings I overslept on the tube train to our flat in Kensington High Street having woken up in a daze not knowing where I was. Wonderful days. cheers tony cooke [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
