The question by Babs Re Assylum reminds me of a trip when I was on the Queen Elizabeth. Some of the lads befriended a British seaman stranded in New York and he was smuggled aboard and brought home then smuggled off in Southampton. And no-one was any the wiser. See the guy some years later he was a shipping agent and never whent back to sea. George in Southampton

Hello everyone and a belated Happy New Year.
I have a question and I hope it doesn't sound daft.
Sure I'll get some stick though !!!
Watching the ships coming and going through the Panama Canal prompts me to ask if anyone has jumped ship there seeking asylum?
From what I can see there's nothing there and it's well lit at night but I just wondered if this has ever happened?

Brian have you not got facilities on this site for when the clocks go back/forward?
Your clock seems to be an hour behind.
Sorry to be picky.

Two points to make . The doing away with the Terms BC Before Christ and AD Anno domoni. These terms are now in school childrens books and maths especially. They replace the Christian termonology as it will no longer be seen as offensive to anyone.

Does this then mean that all reference books that carry the old model must be done away with so as not to cause offence. In the next couple of years we will have nothing of our religion nor identity left. Remember the Union Flag is made up of the crosses of Christian Saints so it must also be offensive and have to be removed.

Just take a look at pinknews.co.uk to see who is running this country type in gay politicians in search box. The list in high office is staggering. David

Sorry you lot.
The clock has been an hour behind at times-I know it was picky -but thought it would be nice to ask Brian if he had noticed.
A minor detail.

Brian I have a query.
This is a great webcam and I love watching the ships but-according to what is written -they're supposed to rotate the camera each day so that you get a different view.
That seems not to be happening so what's wrong?
Hope you can oblige with an answer.
Happy New Year to you and yours.

Sammy Hughes might be interested to see page 15 in "The Sun" newspaper today.
With his sad, twisted mind he'll laugh out loud.!!

It's storm 10 out her from the SE southbound from Lerwick and we are rolling like a bastard. Cant get into Aberdeen coz swell to high, diverted to Rosyth, trailers and cars broken loose, passengers terrified - so much for the romance of the sea - give me f...ing strength.

Hey everyone-it's a new year and we should have new beginnings.
I've visited this site over the last 2 years and- as I have never been at sea-have refrained from postings.
Just enjoyed the banter.
But now the banter is getting out of hand and I feel I have to make just one posting.
We're adults-let's keep this site for having fun but in a decent way-happy 2008 all.
