I was in the Federal MV Westmorland in 1970 when we docked in the Royal Docks at 21.00 Xmas Day at the end of a 'double-header' on the MANZ run. Just managed to catch the last couple of pints in the pub just outside the dock gates. (Can't remember the name) As we were racing up Channel to catch the tide I can recall feeling sorry for the guys on all the ships going down Channel outward bound, most of which were Scandinavian with Xmas trees at the foremast.
