must admit its a nice veiw of the canal, but it can't beat the real thing. the noise, the smell of the natives, the flies. joking aside. going through the canal in dry season, all the bare rockfaces with sparse vegetation, occasional small waterfall. coming back in the wet season, profusion of vegetation everywhere and the small waterfall now a raging torrent. wildlife everywhere and swimming in the lakes while waiting for convoys going the other way. sorry patricia, memories again. cheers. alf
