I had the opportunity to become a good friend of Stan "Ice" Hemmingway when he was Athletic Director at NFA and that friendship continued after he retired.

His nickname "Ice" came about because as a kid in Newburgh he worked on a horse drawn ice wagon, doing what Mr Cea did. Stan had some old home movies of the horse drawn wagon and cutting ice in winter on Brookside Pond.He worked for Brookside Ice Company owned by the Stone family. It was so interesting to sit and listen to Ice and Bob Stone, son of the ice house owners talk about those old days.

Now you know the rest of the story about Stanton "Ice" Hemmingway.
