The other mage, focusing his attention on Kurai, began to weave a spell in the air in front of him. The black catling, deciding to go out on a limb a bit, hurled a dagger directly between the mage's eyes. The mage dropped the fire spell he was conjuring, and formed another for blocking. In those few moments, Kurai had almost instantly crossed the room, another dagger in his hand. Forcing the mage into close-range, phyiscal combat, he faked a quick thrust, then ripped suddenly around, his dagger biting deep into the mage's throat. The sight of his partner lying bleeding on the floor had given him a new kind of strength and resolve. He turned his attention to the other mage, and closed in on him. This one was ready, having prepared a magical defense for the knife attack he saw coming.
