The big show is back! The Old Car Festival held every year at the Palmer Pavillion in McAllen, Texas is scheduled for November 8th, 2009. That is about 2 weeks away. So, if you are working on something for the show, you better get a move on. Don't wait until the last minute like we always do...LOL!....
We want to have our 1980 Trans Am ready for the show and we are way behind. Xavier with the RGVPONTIAC CAR CLUB is hosting a BBQ for all the Pontiac members, so we want to make sure to represent. Some of you might remember our T/A from my post at the beginning of the year where the back window flew off, we had a flat and, we actually blew the motor at the same time...LOL!...crazy!
Here is how the car sat as of this morning. Since we pulled the engine, we decided to go ahead and replace the entire front suspension on it. All the rubber bushings and joints had given up the ghost, so it was time for new stuff. We also decided to go with real Pontiac power and picked up a Jim Butler 526 Cubic Inch big block...YEAH RIGHT!!!...HAHA!...No, we actually found a 350 Pontiac locally out of a 72 GTO. It will be going in with a brand new TH400 transmission thanks to my buddy Joel Alvarado, who builds all my transmissions.
Here are some pics we snapped today. I wanted to get more but man, this car is sure kicking our butts. I think we will call it Kicking & Screaming, because it sure is fighting us every step of the way. Hell, it almost killed us today when one spring decided it did not want to stay in the frame and popped out...YIKES!!....haha. Well, the race is on for the 8th. Dudes, if we can go from this to a running car in two weeks, you all have no excuse on to get your cars ready for November 8th. Stay tuned for updates.....

**PROJECT UPDATE 11/05/09**
I know, I know, some of you all don't care about our junky projects...but, some do...LOL! Anyway, so, we have two more days to go for the big show at the Palmers Pavillion. The engine is sitting in the Trans Am. And believe it or not, it is bolted in. That was by far the hardest part. The car is now sporting a JR's Transmission TH400 transmission, a REAL Pontiac 350 from 1969 and a brand new front suspension.
I took the day off Friday to get as much done as possible. Still have to bolt on the headers, water pump, belts, hoses, fuel pump, distributor, you name it. So, I have a long Friday ahead for me. The plan is to have it ready for a cruise on Saturday night to break it in. Then polish it up and get it ready for Sunday.
But, we need some help. As you can see, we installed some tall valve-covers and they are hitting the brake booster. So, if anyone has some stock Pontiac valve covers they can sell me, I sure would appreciate it. If anyone has any, please call me at 956-655-2835 anytime tomorrow and I will come get them. Stay tuned for more updates....
