Awesome job Joel. Way to represent the Valley and come out on top with the "Fastest Street Car In Texas"...Looks like the Seabiscuit came out swining hard. Dean said it is his engine in the Biscuit. If that is the case, watch out! We might have another turbo Ford in the 7's in the Rio Grande Valley. Looking forward to seeing The Biscuit down in South Texas, giving those Chevy's some headaches.

"JUAN PENAFLOR'S VITAMIN C CRASH VID"

Date Posted: 12:21:20 11/14/09 Sat

Dudes, Friday the 13th was in full force last night. Sure, there were some good things. Like The Reaper, running a 7 second pass on True 10's...awesome! But the rest of the night was just all messed up. First we had The Phenom Stang, breaking the rear-end during a test hit. So they can't make the call for their 3-way race. Then we have this...Juan Penaflor doing a test pass with another Stang. Some people told me it was the Valenzuela Crew. Don't know if that is true or not.

At the hit, the grey Mustang starts slipping and sliding and heading towards the guardrail. Juan said he was staying back, just watching the driver in the other lane fighting the car. Right at the end, Juan decided to mash the gas pedal and come around them. Then it happened....as he is coming around, the Mustang in the other lane finally gave way and took a sharp right, right into Juan. Juan was able to keep his Mustang off the guardrail, but the car still sustained some heavy damage to the left side. Juan drove out of it ok and made it back to the pits.

Now, here is the disturbing part. You know, if you hit someone elses car, accidently. The least that you can do is come over, shake the other guys hand and ask if everything is cool? I would venture to say that you might even offer to help cover the repair expenses. In this case, non of that happened. Instead, the crew of the other Stang were hooping and hoollering, laughing and having a good time. Never offering Juan any help. Good thing Juan owns a junk yard full of Mustangs. I am sure he will be back soon for another challenge. Hope to see the Vitamin C Stang out again soon.

Mark----I tried posting twice on the classifieds section and lost the ad to cyber space. Please move this ad if you need to. Also, if you post it on yellowbullet and it sells I'll contribute to the Toecutter fund.

1968 Chevelle Cynthias Cakes For Sale. Great bracket car and 6.50 pro gas car.
I have had this car for 6 years and it has been a great car and frequent round winner. Its always runs straight and I have never abused it. Last Wednesday, I blew the engine at the 1/8 mile, got oil on the tires, and slightly tagged the pit side guardrail. There is some fiberglass damage on the passenger side front fender and grill area as well as damaged front and rear bumpers. There is no frame damage. I have gotten two estimates on the fiberglass repairs and they run from $1,000 to $1,500 for repairs to $2,500 with repairs and a complete one color paint job. If you own a body shop or have a friend with a shop you can probably get this done for quite a bit less.

Earlier this year I had the car for sale with a 540 motor for $18,900 and as a rolling chassis for $12,500. As noted the fiberglass repairs will be a couple of thousand max so I am lowering the price for the rolling chassis to $8750---thats close to a $4000 reduction. Heres what you get:

* 1968 Chevelle with Alston Square Tube chassis and cage;
* Ladder bar suspension with Koni shocks;
* Chassis is NHRA certified thru 02-2011;
* Car comes with 2 fiberglass hoods, glass doors, and glass trunk lid;
* Car weighs 2600 lbs with big block engine;
* Car comes with Griffin Aluminum radiator with fan shroud and electric fan, headers, wheelie bars, Aeromotive electric fuel pump and filters, 2 yellow top Optima batteries;
* I will throw an extra set of Childs and Albert Aluminum rods, Venolia Pistons, Roller Rockers, aluminum intake, and other misc items.

The car has gone 5.74 to the 1/8 with the 540 and 6.41 with a mild 468.

This will make a great entry level car for someone for less then $9,000. Call Paul at 956 -571-6738 to ask questions, see the car, or make a reasonable offer. Thanks for looking.

Let's take a short break from racing and check out some cool cars. This years Palmer Pavillion show broke all attendance records. One of the ladies at the gate told me that by 12:00 Noon, they had registered over 360 cars and they will still coming. Can you believe it? Tell me, what other show in South Texas, brings out that many muscle cars? We managed to snap off over 300 pics, before giving up because there were just so many. The Palmer show happens once a year and guys start working on their cars the day after the show, in time to get them ready for next year. Make plans to be there.

I want to also personally thank Jim Minke for making the haul down from Falfurrias, Tx. Jim, I hope you all had a great a time. Xavier from the RGV Pontiac Club and David from the South Texas Mopar Club put on a great feast for everyone. Thanks a lot guys, we had an awesome time. Too bad project "Kicking & Screaming" didn't make it this year, but I guarantee you it will make the next one. The car is already up and running. Just waiting on Adan, to finish our drive shaft so we can go out and burn some rubber. Here are some highlight pics and the gallery...enjoy.

Congratulations to Orlando and his crew for being the first to the 7's on True 10.5's at Edinburg International Racetrack. While all the other contendors were fighting and talking smack, Orlando kept a low profile and just did his thing. All it took was a couple of test hits to get The Reaper Stang lined out. And then it was time to unleash the power and let her rip. How about a 7.95 @ 187mph!!!...On not W tires, but on True 10.5's. Awesome job guy's.....

Man, never has a race created so much controversy. This is what we get for racing on Friday the 13th...LOL! I have heard so many stories on what went down from all different points of view. Everything from "We were reeling him in"...I heard this from Tommy Hearn. Sorry, but the last time I saw a small block reel a big block Chevy in, the small block had a big turbo strapped to the front of it. Either that or the big block car was slipping and sliding. Then we heard Henry say he "had everything under control"...LOL! Well, we all saw the in car. And damn, it looked to me like that big Chevy was taking Henry for a serious ride. Now I heard that the Ghost has a cracked hood and bumper, cracked windshield, bent rims and Ed needed new pants. Damn, were we racing on a gravel road?...HAHA...

Sorry dudes, just poking fun at you. What we all are forgetting are the ET's both the Ghost and The Undertaker ran. Both cars ran their fastest passes ever! And no one is talking about that. Of course, Tommy told me that Henry's run did not count because Henry knocked out the foam blocks at the end. Well, I ask this; If Henry knocked out the foam blocks, that means there is no way The Ghost's ET was real either. Cause the foam blocks in the middle capture the MPH and ET on both sides. Either way, awesome race from both teams. I hear race #3 is going to happen right after Thanksgiving. Stay tuned for more info. And hopefully we can get this race settled. Here is the video. Let the arguing commence....LOL!

Looks like we are going to have some awesome races this Friday night. Friday the 13th....ooooh! Oh man, will lady luck rear her ugly head and cause problems for the fighters? I sure hope not cause I don't know about you, but I am ready for some TDR Headsup action. Look at the line up. First of all, we have the much anticipated race between the turbo terror The Phenom Stang and the always dangerous, Undertaker Chevelle. The winner of this monster challenge will come after the one and only, the always impressive, the colorful and loud...GHOST!!!!......As they say in Spanish, "V A VER CHINGASOS!!!"...LOL!

Also, stepping into the ring on the same night, we have the Vitamin C Stang of Juan Penaflor -vs- Charlie's El Chapulin Stang. This is an all Ford, all Nitrous brawl. Dudes, bring your flack jackets and some eye protection. Cause these guys are so loaded for bear that we won't be responsible for anyone losing an eye!!!...You have been warned!!!.....

Said he wanted the fans to see what it looks like to make a pass in his Heavy Chevy. Take a seat and grab on to something. And let me warn you, if you have a weak stomach, don't click on the video..LOL!....

SouthTexasFbodies.com will be hosting the largest muscle car cruise to SPI, of the year. What is a cruise you ask? It is just that! Owners of Camaro's and Trans-Am's of every make and year get together and make a drive out to South Padre Island, Texas. We have close to 100 cars already signed up and the list keeps growing every day. November 22, 2009 is cruise date! See you all there...

Except for last night, Friday the 6th. I was not able to make it out to the track. Too bad cause I heard the Phenom ran an 8.03 pass!..wow! If anyone has video of the pass, please send it our way.

This first video is from Friday, October 23rd. This video contains qualifying for Pro Comp, Pro Gas and much more. It also contains the rounds of the final. Check it out below....

This next video is from Wednesday, October 28th. Lots of test and tuners out. This video inlcludes footage of the Phenom chunking the drive shaft during the burnout. Check it out....

It's 1:45AM om the day of the show and our project 1980 Trans-Am, which we have now named "Kickin' & Screamin'" is still living up to it's name. If anything can break on a car, it has broken on this car. We have been at it all day since Friday morning and we were down to bolting up the drive shaft, pouring some fresh Dextron II, in the transmission and we were done.

But, it wss too good to be true. We slid in the drive shaft and nothing. It stopped dead cold in the transmission and it locked up. Now, after beating on it for an hour with all kinds of tools, it won't come out. The ony thing we can figure is that the yolk is bad. Luckily, I have another TH400 yolk, but I have no tools to replace it. If anyone out there can swap out the yolk for us first thing in the am, we sure would appreciate it.

Anyway, if this car does not make the show, we have a couple of other cars we can take. Just sux that we have been at this in hopes of getting the car to the show and it ends like this. Oh well....I am tired, dirty and very sleepy. See you all later today at Palmers Pavillion in McAllen, Texas. I leave you with a couple of pics of Project Kickin' & SCreamin' as it sits...LOL! Laterz..

"OLD CAR FESTIVAL - NOV. 8TH 2009"

Author:

Date Posted: 22:35:52 10/25/09 Sun

The big show is back! The Old Car Festival held every year at the Palmer Pavillion in McAllen, Texas is scheduled for November 8th, 2009. That is about 2 weeks away. So, if you are working on something for the show, you better get a move on. Don't wait until the last minute like we always do...LOL!....

We want to have our 1980 Trans Am ready for the show and we are way behind. Xavier with the RGVPONTIAC CAR CLUB is hosting a BBQ for all the Pontiac members, so we want to make sure to represent. Some of you might remember our T/A from my post at the beginning of the year where the back window flew off, we had a flat and, we actually blew the motor at the same time...LOL!...crazy!

Here is how the car sat as of this morning. Since we pulled the engine, we decided to go ahead and replace the entire front suspension on it. All the rubber bushings and joints had given up the ghost, so it was time for new stuff. We also decided to go with real Pontiac power and picked up a Jim Butler 526 Cubic Inch big block...YEAH RIGHT!!!...HAHA!...No, we actually found a 350 Pontiac locally out of a 72 GTO. It will be going in with a brand new TH400 transmission thanks to my buddy Joel Alvarado, who builds all my transmissions.

Here are some pics we snapped today. I wanted to get more but man, this car is sure kicking our butts. I think we will call it Kicking & Screaming, because it sure is fighting us every step of the way. Hell, it almost killed us today when one spring decided it did not want to stay in the frame and popped out...YIKES!!....haha. Well, the race is on for the 8th. Dudes, if we can go from this to a running car in two weeks, you all have no excuse on to get your cars ready for November 8th. Stay tuned for updates.....

**PROJECT UPDATE 11/05/09**

I know, I know, some of you all don't care about our junky projects...but, some do...LOL! Anyway, so, we have two more days to go for the big show at the Palmers Pavillion. The engine is sitting in the Trans Am. And believe it or not, it is bolted in. That was by far the hardest part. The car is now sporting a JR's Transmission TH400 transmission, a REAL Pontiac 350 from 1969 and a brand new front suspension.

I took the day off Friday to get as much done as possible. Still have to bolt on the headers, water pump, belts, hoses, fuel pump, distributor, you name it. So, I have a long Friday ahead for me. The plan is to have it ready for a cruise on Saturday night to break it in. Then polish it up and get it ready for Sunday.

But, we need some help. As you can see, we installed some tall valve-covers and they are hitting the brake booster. So, if anyone has some stock Pontiac valve covers they can sell me, I sure would appreciate it. If anyone has any, please call me at 956-655-2835 anytime tomorrow and I will come get them. Stay tuned for more updates....

Took a break today from working on our Pontiac Trans Am project to go out to Spike Ford in Mission, and get some pics of the nice rides out there. And, to my surprise, Joel Cura had the Seabiscuit out there. We haven't seen that car in what, 2 years now?...LOL! The car looks awesome. Now sporting a brand new shiny paint job and not one, but two turbo's now....watch out!!!...Ron Martin was also out with his turbo Stang. And Cano Motors, one of our sponsors had some awesome rides out. Including a sick DeTomaso Pantera. Wonder if they will let us take it for a test drive...LOL!..Yeah Right!....Lots and lots of nice rides out there. We had to run, so we made it quick so we snapped off some highlight pics....enjoy..

All right, running a little bit behind.....again. Here are a bunch of pics from Wednesday night. Sorry, the quality is not all that great. The wind was blowing something awful on Wednesday night and it was hard keeping the camera steady. So, these will have to do. Congrats to Charlie Deleon for winning the reaction race with a .006 light. Good job Charlie. And yes, we do have video also, but it is going thru some editing. So it will be up as soon as possible and time permits. Emjoy the pics...I'll back with more....

All right, weather man says we are going to get rained out. But I have my fingers crossed that they got it wrong. So, if we race tonight, this is how the match races are looking for tonight. Oh yeah, and Henry Thomae will be giving out trophies to tonight's spot race winners.

#9 Spot Race - Juan Penaflor (Boost-Stang) -vs- Smiley's "Farm Truck"

-VS-

#7 Spot Race - Charlie's "Chapulin" -vs- Villegas' Chevy Stang

-VS-

**WINNER RACES JOEL CURA'S "BOOGER"**

And, still up in the air is the much anticipated race for the #1 Spot between Henry Thomae's "Undertaker Chevelle" and Tommy Hearn's "Ghost" Stang. Looks to me like Ed, the pilot of The Ghost is ready spook the Undertaker with a low 8 second pass. Bring out the monsters dudes!!!....

#1 Spot Race - Tommy's "The Ghost" -vs- Henry's "Undertaker"

-VS-

**UPDATE**

THE RACE IS ON LIKE THIS GUY!!!---->

Here is a quick update before I crash.

#9 Spot Race - Jesse Munoz (Laredo) beat Smiley in the Farm Truck. In the final, Jesse took on Juanito and it was a peddle fest all the way for both cars. Jesse pulled out the win at the very end. Awesome job dudes. Welcome to TDR.

#7 Spot Race - Charlie, driving The Chapulin out ran Smiley, driving J. Villegas Chevy Stang. In the final, Charlie took on Joel Cura and put an easy whooping on him with a 9.27 pass. The fastest The Chapulin has ever been. Congratulations Charlie.

#1 Spot Race - The Undertaker red lit, but threw down a number that will cause a lot of sleepless nights for the other racers. The heavy metal Undertaker Chevelle ran a very impressive 8.12 @ 169mph!!!!....The Ghost coasted to a low 10 second pass since Ed saw the green light come on in his lane.

Awesome races tonight dudes. Thank you all for coming out and putting on a show for the TDR race fans. We'll get video up of all the races as soon as we can. Good night.

This is new for us. Why didn't I think about it sooner? I mean, I LOVE CAKE!!!...Who doesn't? Let's all welcome Cynthia's Cakes as a Texasdragracing.com sponsor. Why does that name sound familiar? Probably because they are world famous. Cynthia has had her cakes in just about every major publication. That is awesome! For more info on Cynthia's Cakes, Click on their Sponsor Banner.....

**CLICK BANNER FOR WEBSITE**

Oh yeah, you might also remember Cynthia's Cakes from the big bad Cynthia's Cakes Chevelle. Piloted by Paul Ebrom Sr., the big bad Chevelle has been in the winners circle plenty of times. Next time you need a cake for any occassion, support a company owned by racers that support racers.....
