"PROJECT KICKIN' & SCREAMIN' UPDATE 11/8/09"

Date Posted: 01:52:59 11/08/09 Sun

It's 1:45AM om the day of the show and our project 1980 Trans-Am, which we have now named "Kickin' & Screamin'" is still living up to it's name. If anything can break on a car, it has broken on this car. We have been at it all day since Friday morning and we were down to bolting up the drive shaft, pouring some fresh Dextron II, in the transmission and we were done.

But, it wss too good to be true. We slid in the drive shaft and nothing. It stopped dead cold in the transmission and it locked up. Now, after beating on it for an hour with all kinds of tools, it won't come out. The ony thing we can figure is that the yolk is bad. Luckily, I have another TH400 yolk, but I have no tools to replace it. If anyone out there can swap out the yolk for us first thing in the am, we sure would appreciate it.

Anyway, if this car does not make the show, we have a couple of other cars we can take. Just sux that we have been at this in hopes of getting the car to the show and it ends like this. Oh well....I am tired, dirty and very sleepy. See you all later today at Palmers Pavillion in McAllen, Texas. I leave you with a couple of pics of Project Kickin' & SCreamin' as it sits...LOL! Laterz..

Running way behind with the track action video's. Been really busy lately with our project. I worked on these last night after coming in from the garage. This should get us up to date. Except for last night, Friday the 6th. I was not able to make it out to the track. Too bad cause I heard the Phenom ran an 8.03 pass!..wow! If anyone has video of the pass, please send it our way.

This first video is from Friday, October 23rd. This video contains qualifying for Pro Comp, Pro Gas and much more. It also contains the rounds of the final. Check it out below....

**CLICK ON PIC FOR VIDEO**

This next video is from Wednesday, October 28th. Lots of test and tuners out. This video inlcludes footage of the Phenom chunking the drive shaft during the burnout. Check it out....

Up next we have video footge of Friday the 30th. I wanted to make individual video's of every match race. But for the sake of saving time, I went ahead and threw them all in one video. So, if you want to see some badass match races, you are going to have to watch the entire video...enjoy....

"OLD CAR FESTIVAL - NOV. 8TH 2009"

Author:

[Edit]

Date Posted: 22:35:52 10/25/09 Sun

The big show is back! The Old Car Festival held every year at the Palmer Pavillion in McAllen, Texas is scheduled for November 8th, 2009. That is about 2 weeks away. So, if you are working on something for the show, you better get a move on. Don't wait until the last minute like we always do...LOL!....

We want to have our 1980 Trans Am ready for the show and we are way behind. Xavier with the RGVPONTIAC CAR CLUB is hosting a BBQ for all the Pontiac members, so we want to make sure to represent. Some of you might remember our T/A from my post at the beginning of the year where the back window flew off, we had a flat and, we actually blew the motor at the same time...LOL!...crazy!

Here is how the car sat as of this morning. Since we pulled the engine, we decided to go ahead and replace the entire front suspension on it. All the rubber bushings and joints had given up the ghost, so it was time for new stuff. We also decided to go with real Pontiac power and picked up a Jim Butler 526 Cubic Inch big block...YEAH RIGHT!!!...HAHA!...No, we actually found a 350 Pontiac locally out of a 72 GTO. It will be going in with a brand new TH400 transmission thanks to my buddy Joel Alvarado, who builds all my transmissions.

Here are some pics we snapped today. I wanted to get more but man, this car is sure kicking our butts. I think we will call it Kicking & Screaming, because it sure is fighting us every step of the way. Hell, it almost killed us today when one spring decided it did not want to stay in the frame and popped out...YIKES!!....haha. Well, the race is on for the 8th. Dudes, if we can go from this to a running car in two weeks, you all have no excuse on to get your cars ready for November 8th. Stay tuned for updates.....

**PROJECT UPDATE 11/05/09**

I know, I know, some of you all don't care about our junky projects...but, some do...LOL! Anyway, so, we have two more days to go for the big show at the Palmers Pavillion. The engine is sitting in the Trans Am. And believe it or not, it is bolted in. That was by far the hardest part. The car is now sporting a JR's Transmission TH400 transmission, a REAL Pontiac 350 from 1969 and a brand new front suspension.

I took the day off Friday to get as much done as possible. Still have to bolt on the headers, water pump, belts, hoses, fuel pump, distributor, you name it. So, I have a long Friday ahead for me. The plan is to have it ready for a cruise on Saturday night to break it in. Then polish it up and get it ready for Sunday.

But, we need some help. As you can see, we installed some tall valve-covers and they are hitting the brake booster. So, if anyone has some stock Pontiac valve covers they can sell me, I sure would appreciate it. If anyone has any, please call me at 956-655-2835 anytime tomorrow and I will come get them. Stay tuned for more updates....

Took a break today from working on our Pontiac Trans Am project to go out to Spike Ford in Mission, and get some pics of the nice rides out there. And, to my surprise, Joel Cura had the Seabiscuit out there. We haven't seen that car in what, 2 years now?...LOL! The car looks awesome. Now sporting a brand new shiny paint job and not one, but two turbo's now....watch out!!!...Ron Martin was also out with his turbo Stang. And Cano Motors, one of our sponsors had some awesome rides out. Including a sick DeTomaso Pantera. Wonder if they will let us take it for a test drive...LOL!..Yeah Right!....Lots and lots of nice rides out there. We had to run, so we made it quick so we snapped off some highlight pics....enjoy..

All right, weather man says we are going to get rained out. But I have my fingers crossed that they got it wrong. So, if we race tonight, this is how the match races are looking for tonight. Oh yeah, and Henry Thomae will be giving out trophies to tonight's spot race winners.

#9 Spot Race - Juan Penaflor (Boost-Stang) -vs- Smiley's "Farm Truck"

-VS-

#7 Spot Race - Charlie's "Chapulin" -vs- Villegas' Chevy Stang

-VS-

**WINNER RACES JOEL CURA'S "BOOGER"**

And, still up in the air is the much anticipated race for the #1 Spot between Henry Thomae's "Undertaker Chevelle" and Tommy Hearn's "Ghost" Stang. Looks to me like Ed, the pilot of The Ghost is ready spook the Undertaker with a low 8 second pass. Bring out the monsters dudes!!!....

#1 Spot Race - Tommy's "The Ghost" -vs- Henry's "Undertaker"

Here is a quick update before I crash.

#9 Spot Race - Jesse Munoz (Laredo) beat Smiley in the Farm Truck. In the final, Jesse took on Juanito and it was a peddle fest all the way for both cars. Jesse pulled out the win at the very end. Awesome job dudes. Welcome to TDR.

#7 Spot Race - Charlie, driving The Chapulin out ran Smiley, driving J. Villegas Chevy Stang. In the final, Charlie took on Joel Cura and put an easy whooping on him with a 9.27 pass. The fastest The Chapulin has ever been. Congratulations Charlie.

#1 Spot Race - The Undertaker red lit, but threw down a number that will cause a lot of sleepless nights for the other racers. The heavy metal Undertaker Chevelle ran a very impressive 8.12 @ 169mph!!!!....The Ghost coasted to a low 10 second pass since Ed saw the green light come on in his lane.

Awesome races tonight dudes. Thank you all for coming out and putting on a show for the TDR race fans. We'll get video up of all the races as soon as we can. Good night.

Oh yeah, you might also remember Cynthia's Cakes from the big bad Cynthia's Cakes Chevelle. Piloted by Paul Ebrom Sr., the big bad Chevelle has been in the winners circle plenty of times. Next time you need a cake for any occassion, support a company owned by racers that support racers.....

Not a lot of cruisers out Saturday night. Guess the weather made them think it was going to rain. But in fact the weather was really nice. We had a cool breeze and HEB was feeding everyone who brought out a ride some hotdogs, chips and drinks. Bit thank you for that. Guys, remember, your car does not have to be a show car or be perfect to come out to cruise-in. If you are proud of your ride and want to come on out and hang out with us, go for it. The Cruise-In's are held every Saturday night at different locations. But the rotation is always the same.

1st Saturday of Month - Colonial Village - McAllen, Tx
(Corner of N. 10th St. and La Vista)

2nd Saturday of Month - Texas Tops - McAllen, Tx
(Old 83 & McColl Rd - Next to Dairy Queen)

3rd Saturday of Month - Chic-Fil-A - Mission, Tx
(Expressway 83 & Shary Rd)

4th Saturday of Month - Weslaco HEB - Weslao, Tx
(Old 83 & Westgate)

There is your official rotation. Here are a few pics from the HEB Cruise-in in Weslaco, this past Saturday night. First pic is of our 1973 Camaro. It belongs to my 15 year old Son. It's his "do good in school" vehicle. As long as his grades stay up, he gets this hotrod once he gets his drivers license. He has some major plans for it, like a small cube stroker with an 88MM Turbo giving it some boost. Watch out!...That is all we have for today. Stay tuned for more updates.....

Congratulations to all the winners from last nights race. In Pro-Comp, The Garcia Family came out on top. Ricky, driving their Chevy II Nova went round by round, knocking out any and all challengers. Good job guys. I have seen Ricky in the finals a lot. Glad to see you all finally caught one. The runner-up in Pro-Comp was Tommy Hernandez. Piloting his Mouse-Stang to another final. In Pro-Gas, I believe it was Charlie Deleon and Paul Ebrom Sr. in the final. I was not surprised to see Paul in the final. His Cynthia's Cakes Chevelle was a beast, running the 6.50 Index all night. In the Quick Class, Mario Cantu took the win over The Fuel Man, Albert Rodriguez. Good job again to everyone that won their respective classes. Here are all the winners and runner-ups from last night..Congrats!

Had some good action out at EIRT last night. With the Pro-Gas and the Pro-Comp race coming up this Friday night, we had some heavy hitters out doing some testing. Coming back out with a new car, Arnold & Ray Espericueta were tearing it up. New car or not, these guys have it all worked out. Their new Mouse-Stang, came out swinging, ripping out a 5.53 pass to the 1/8 mile. Well within range of the 5.50 Pro-Comp index. Went ahead and updated Arnold & Ray's banner to reflect their new car and attitude. Car is looking great guys. Best of luck on Friday night.

Also out doing some testing with Area 51 Racing and the SPS Crew. They had the Black Bastard loaded for bear and ripping out some low ET's. They main problem with this Stang is slowing it down to meet the 5.50 Index. Friday night is looking to be great night for some headsup racing. You won't want to miss it.

Make plans to be out at EIRT on Friday night. The weather is going to be great! And all of the heavy hitters are going to out. We even saw the black turbo S-10 out there testing. Word is, he will also be out for the Pro-Comp race. Only bad news from Wednesday night is that our barely 2 year old Sony Video Cam took a dump last night. It has been giving us problems already, but last night it was all over. We are already scrambling to get another camera for Friday night. Thanks in part to our new great sponsors. Your help came at the right time.

All right, here are a ton more pics from Wednesday night. This time around, The Old Man, me...LOL! was on the photo camera duties. So I was trying my best to come up with some good shots of all the hotrods out there. Snapped off over 100 pics last night. You can check them out in the gallery. That is it for now. Stay tuned for more updates...

Are you guy's getting those muscle cars all polished up and ready? No? Well what are you waiting for? The cruise-in today will be held at the HEB in Weslaco, Tx. Located at the corner of Business 83 and Westgate. If you are coming on the expressway, exit on Westgate and head South. You will run right into the HEB. This one gets just as big as the one in Mission, so get there early for the best spot. See you all out there around 6:00PM....

We would like to welcome Andres Cano and the Cano Family to Texasdragracing.com. For a long time, I have drooled over their beautiful cars on my way to work. Who knew they were TDR fans? Andres, owner of Motor City in Harlingen, and his brother, owner of Cano Motors in Mercedes, specialize in quality, luxury rides. Take a drive by their dealerships and you will find everything from classic Pontiac Bandit Trans Am's to Vipers, Corvette Z06's, Hummers, Supercharged Mustang's, you name it, they have it.

The next time you are in the market for a super nice ride, give Motor City in Harlingen, and Cano Motors in Mercedes, a try. I promise you, you will not be disappointed with the quality of their vehicles. On any given day, their lots look like car shows. You think I am kidding? Go check them out for yourself. Step away from the mega car stores and give Motor City and Cano Motors a try. If you are a TDR fan, then you owe it to them to give them your automotive business. If it wasn't for great sponsors like this, TDR would not be able to bring you all this drag racing action for free. Click on their banners below for their websites for more information. And here it is!!!...The pass that is the talk of the RGV! Some called BS on the MPH. But I remember even Isaac at the track was freaked out about it. We almost missed the pass because The Reaper was already in the burnout box as we were unloading out of the TDR Crew event vehicle. But, a quick scramble and we were ready for the show. The Reaper, with a driver mod by the name of Angel (Nemesis) Padilla, did a quick burnout and a quick stage. The start was a little lite, but then Angel started to lay on the coals. You could hear the tires begging for dear mercy. But Angel didn't care about that. He just kept it steady and straight. With each passing second you could hear the turbo motor making more and more power. At the end....BAM!!!...There it was...8.20 @ 179 Miles Per Hour!!!....WOW!!!.....We might have to call this one, The Ghost Buster..BUSTER!!!...LOL! And just like that, the Ford guys were back on top. Got some updates from the last two cruise-in's. The first one was at Texas Tops in McAllen, Texas. This one is held the second Saturday of every month. We need to get more cars out there. They have a huge paved parking lot and Dairy Queen gives out free ice-cream. Bring out your ride to show it off and bring out the kids for some free ice-cream.

These next pics are from one of the better monthly cruise-in's. This one is held at the Chic-Fil-A in Mission, Texas off Shary Rd and Expressway 83. I guess the location helps out because this one gets a huge turnout. And, to make it even better, Chic-Fil-A gives out FREE chicken sandwiches to the first 50 cars to show up. I know at this last cruise-in, they gave out over 100 free chicken sandwiches. Got to give Chic-Fil-A major props for taking care of the car guys like this. Don't miss the next show. Remember, it is the 3rd Saturday of every month.

We would like to welcome Leroy Greek & Greek Fabrications to TDR. Thank you for your support of our website and we hope we can send plenty of business your way. As a sponsor, Leroy is the exclusive Chassis Shop for Texasdragracing.com....This means they get first shot at anyone looking for chassis or suspension work. Leroy is the man who did the amazing work on Henry's Undertaker Chevelle. And, as we witnessed, that work turned out great, with The Undertaker laying down some quick numbers on it's first time out with the new work. Need a roll-cage, some welding or anything involving chassis work, give Leroy Greek a call.......

Got the Friday night video locked and loaded. Lots of great action in this video. We have Henry making some 8.30 passes. We also have Ruben Ybarra in The Bounty Hunter, making some slip & slide passes down the left lane. And Jason Cantu was out again going for 8's on his R1. He got pretty close, running a teen pass. This video is about 13 minutes long. Without commercial interuption, that's about as long as your average PINKS show...LOL! Check it out...and of course, if we didn't get your car this time, we will get you on the next one.

"10/14/09 #7 SPOT MATCH RACE VIDEO"

Chalk this one up to lady luck. Sometimes things happen for a reason and last night was one of those nights. The race for the #7 spot happened kind of late due to some TV people who wanted to record match races for their show. They pulled Joel Cura and Mike to the side for personal interviews about their cars before the race. I sure hope someone mentioned Texasdragracing.com...LOL!

For TV, they had each racer do an individual burnout. Mike went first with his burnout in the Daredevil Stang. They then told Joel to come on up, it was his turn. During his burnout, I heard a loud pop. I immediately recognized that sound as one I have heard before on a turbo car. One of the outlet tubes had popped off. When this happens, it means no boost for the turbo car. And as fate would have it, this actually turned out to be a good thing.

At the hit, Mike juiced his 6.0 GM powered Mouse Stang and lit up the big red buld. Joel, making no boost, stayed behind. Just cruising down the track. Mike was on a roll, when all of a sudden the Daredevil made a sharp right. Right into where Joel should have been . Mike pulled the wheel to the left and put the stang back in his land, but the rear end came around and smacked the guard rail on the spectator side. Behind me, one of Mike's crew men was yelling, "save it Mike, save it!" And, given the minimal damage, I guess Mike heard him.

Dudes, I cannot thank you enough for everything you all do for TDR and the TDR race fans. To go out there and risk your rides for nothing more than a Spot on our website is something I simply cannot thank you enough for. Mike, I know you all will be back. And I look forward to the re-match. I heard you all were supposed to do it again last night. But time drew short for us and we had to call it a night. Here is the video of the race last night for the #7 Spot between Mike from Pro-Tech and Joel Cura's Booger.

With the economy in turmoil, it surprises me that some of our sponsors have not renewed their advertising with us. It's times like this that your company name has to be out there. Considering what print ads and Tv ads cost, placing a small ad on Texasdragracing.com is a very effective way of targeting your customer base. We offer two simple plans to our customers.

$150 Per Year (12 Months) for a simple business card ad.

$250 Per Year (12 Months) for a flash banner. (New Price)

We are talking about advertising as low as .41 cents per day. That is less than a can of Coke. If you pull just one customer from your ad, that alone will cover your advertising for the entire year. We have nearly 1000 hits per day on our site. And we also have one of the best Free Race Car Classified's out there. We promise you will get your money's worth with a simple TDR ad banner.

Example: This past weekend, I had two phone calls from customers looking for chassis work on their race cars. One customer was from Mexico and the other was from North Texas. Right now, we do not have a chassis shop advertising on our site. So I had to send them to whomever came to mind first. The client from Mexico said, "My friends and I read your site everyday and we trust your advertisers". Is business like this not worth .41 cents a day to you?

Give us a call or e-mail us today to place your ad on The Fastest Website In South Texas, Texasdragracing.com.....

Not a lot going out at the track last night. Again, I think the rain earlier in the day scared everyone off. Such a shame too because the air was nice and cool. Great weather for drag racing. Fast rides we saw out there was Henry Thomae, Ruben Ybarr and Charlie Deleon. Charlie did win the Mustang Mayham race last night. Congrats on that.
