Got the pics and video from Friday night done and uploaded. Again, the night was a little slow. So we did our best with what we had. It was supposed to be Import Night, but not enough imports showed up to make a race. Now that is right down weird. Either the economy is really kicking eveyone in the ass or there must have been some big import event happening that we didn't know about...LOL! Anyway, here are well over 100 pics from Friday and a sweet 5 minute highlight video...enjoy.

"SAFETY EQUIPMENT WORKS"

Date Posted: 08:16:38 01/07/10 Thu

Had a pretty bad accident at the track last night. This red truck lost it after the finish line, coming really close to hitting Charlie Deleon, in the other lane. Charlie had about 10mph more on the truck so he was able to clear the accident. Guy's, we cannot emphasize enough how important safety equipment is for your life and the life of your loved ones. You go out there and kill yourself, think about those you are leaving behind.

As you can see by the pics, things could have been a lot worse. Were it not for the roll cage in this truck, we all agreed last night that the driver would not be around today. Got to give major props to Roy Perez of Eagle Racecars for doing an outstanding job on the roll cage. As you can see, it did it's job. While the truck is basically a total loss, the cab (roof) is totally intact. Even after the truck rolled twice. The cage still held up. The driver walked away with just some minor cuts and bruises. I hear he did go to the hospital to get one of his arms checked out. Apperantley, he either did not have a window net installed or he didn't lock it into place.

Which brings me to another point. If you have the safety equipment available, use it! Why wouldn't you put up your net if it is there? Why wouldn't you put on your race gloves, pants, helmet, shoes..ect...etc...I hear some drivers come up to the line with their seat belts (race-harness) loose. In a roll-over like this one, a loose seat belt is not going to hold you in the vehicle. You will be thrown out of the car or beat to hell with the roll bar. Safety first guys, that always comes first.

One last thing, before rumors start flying all over the net, and I have seen them start already. No, a bump on the track did not cause this. An inspection of the truck after the accident found that one of the steering arms broke on the truck. When you have a 5000 pound vehicle traveling at close to 140 miles per hour the last thing you want is for a steering arm to break. Inspect before you race guys. Check out your suspension, make sure everything is nice and tight. Check for cracks, rust anything that might cause the part to fail.

Here is a video taken last year of this same truck having problems with it's steering. As you can see, the driver had absolutely no control of anything. And just let it coast into the guard rail. Also, we have some before and after pics. Hate to see this very popular truck go out like this. But, at least it did it's job and kept it's driver safe and he was able to go home to his family. And that is all that counts.

Just a little update to let folks know, we rented the track again today, from 2 to 6, and the track was hooking hard! Bounty Hunter ran 7.96 at 172 mph, on TT5's! I saw Cura run a string of 10.30's in Booger, at 131 mph. The Undertaker Chevelle ran 8.98 on motor and then, on the second hit, hurt the motor. I want to give up the number three spot, someone else needs to run for it, cause I will be down for a while. Frankie G went out and ran his fastest time ever 11.50 in his S-10 Blazer! George ran a string of low 11's, in his Chevelle, Lenny ran 12's in his Vette. Congrats to all. It was an awesom day of test and tune, I will try to get some photos up later on.

Got a text from Henry today. Told me to go ahead and take him off the board. Seems there just isn't anyone left to compete against. With him gone, this means that the board is all FORD now. Every spot holder on the board is a Mustang powered by a REAL Ford engine. Guess in the end, the Ford's outlasted the Chevy's.

With that said, how about we let the Ford dudes come up with the rules for 2010? Since they are now the majority, I feel they deserve to make some rules. Personally, I would like for us to go back to a Drag Radial only. And to have a maximum tire size of 275/60/15. No exceptions. I would even venture to say that all cars had to run the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial tire in a 275/60/15.

This should make things very interesting in 2010. It would make those with monster engines rethink their program. Maybe that 750 cubic inch monster with 800 shot of nitrous is not such a good idea. I don't know..I am just giving my thoughts. What do you guy's think? How can we make the board better and make things more interesting?

Speak Up!!! State Your Opinions.

Here are a few pics from Saturday's Winter Cruise. The day was awesome and so were the rides. The cruise started at the Lowes in Weslaco, Texas. From there we headed North to the Delta Lake Park. Wish we could have stayed longer but the carburetor on our '73 Camaro decided to take a total crap on us. We went ahead and called it a day early and drove back home. Clicked on our classified's section and picked up a fresh 650 double-pump Holley carb for cheap. While I was there we also picked up a super nice 750 double-pumper to replace a junk carb I had. Lot's of good deals in our classified's, make sure to check it out. Oh yeah...and check out the cruise pics.

I don't have anything to go in, but if someone wants to lend me a Cobra (hint-hint) to go in, I would gladly cover the event...LOL! Especially someone who can't drive them all out there..right Tom..hehe. Hmmm...I was just looking at the date. And I noticed it falls on Valentine's Day. Here are a few pics and a video from Saturday's dyno day. Joel Deleon told me they ran 46 cars thru the dyno on Saturday..wow! That is a lot of cars to get done in such a short time. The GO RACE FUEL guys worked their tails off. Ruben Sanchez, running the dyno, said he has never floored so many cars in one day...LOL! There were some very impressive machines out there too. Thanks again for everyone that came out and a big thank you to the sponsors for feeding and cooling down everyone out there. Check out the pics and a video put together by my youngest son.

Just got back from the GO RACE FUELS & DELEON AUTO Dyno Day! And man, what a turnout. We have been there since 9:00AM and when we left right now at 4:00PM, they were still dynoing cars. Don't know how many it was but it was a lot. Big thanks to all the sponsors for the free food & drinks. We really appreciate it. We also dyno'ed the Toecutter Trans Am. And we were very happy with the number it threw down. Unfortunately, we did not make the most horsepower. That honor goes to Tom Redding from Weslaco, Texas. Pulling down 590 horsepower to the rear wheels...WOW!!!.....

Now, we are on our way to the HEB Cruise-In, in Weslaco, Texas. The is the first one of the year so I imagine it is going to be packed. It does not start for an hour, but we are leaving early to grab a good spot. Come on out, bring the kids, the lawn chairs and come hang out with us. See you all out there...

Just got off the phone with Tommy Hearn. He wanted to update me on the Ghost. Said the engine is being freshened up right now. And the car is going to Leroy Greek's shop for some roll-bar updates. So it will be down for a while. Asked me to go ahead and open up the #1 Spot for anyone that wants to run for it. Let's see some challenges going. This has been the worst start to a new year that we have ever had. The fans demand match races!!!!......

Also, if you are currently a spot holder and your vehicle is down and not able to respond to a challenge. I want to ask you to kindly give up your spot so someone can run for it. You can always come back and challenge for it later like Tommy Hearn said he would. Said when he comes back, the new spot holder better be running 7's. Cause that is what they are going to need to keep up.....DAMN!!!....

The cruise in was absolutley packed last night. What a great turn out for the first Chic-Fil-A cruise of the year. There were all kinds of cars out there. Everything from 4x4's to modern muscle to street rods and even lowriders. And this is where the trouble started. I guess because of it's location right off Expressway 83, this show attracts alot of spectators. And it also attracts alot of the fools that you don't want around. At one point, the lowrider dudes started a hopping contest. With two lowriders hopping side by side.

Then there was the cruising. We had guys just driving around in circles over and over and over. You all remember when this used to happen at EIRT? When people would just cruise in circles. EIRT put a major stop to that crap. There was this one dude with a Grand Prix that thought the car was a transformer. He kept driving around with all four doors open, the hood and even the trunk open. Not to mention the loud rap music bumping out of this thing.

Then it got even better. Guess someone told the truck guys about the cruise in. Next thing we know, a bunch of trucks showed up. And just like I have seen happen before, things got stupid. With truck guys doing burnouts in front of everyone. And then there were the guys throwing gang signs at people that were just spectating. Seriously? Gang signs? Things got totally out of hand, Mission PD was called and they put an end to the whole thing. Don't know how to clean this mess up, but I don't believe Target will allow the organizers to block off the area further to keep this from happening. Anyway, here are some pics we snapped off from last night. Hope these aren't the last of this show.

Got the pics from last weekends Autorama in Corpus Christi uploaded. I got to tell you, the show was not half bad. The venue was kind of small, but the quality of the cars was great. I really don't see why we can't have an Autorama type show here in the Valley. The new McAllen Convention Center is just as big if not bigger than the convention center in Corpus. Who knows, maybe someone will work on that. Anyway, here are some pics we snapped while at the show. We didn't get pics of every single car. Just the ones that caught our eye.

This is something that almost got away from us. After a long absence, the ISCA (International Show Car Association) is making a return to South Texas. This coming weekend, January 8th thru the 10th, The Alamo Hotrods will be hosting the Alamo Hotrods Autorama. I know of a few Valley cars that will be featured at this show. And you will also see cars from all over the country. The show is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We plan on going out there on Saturday. Hope to see you all there.

Tonight's update marks the final track update for 2009. This is from last Wednesday the 30th. My buddy Abel snapped off about 100 pics and we got some of the nights best runs. The first race day of the 2010 season is right around the corner. There is a track rental this Wednesday as well as test & tune from 6pm forward. Weather man say's it is going to be really ugly on Friday, so we are going to take advantage and be out there tomorrow night. See you all out there. Bring a sweater because it is going to be really cold....

Before you dudes go out and get so faded you won't even remember your name, I wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!....I also want to thank eveyone for supporting our little corner of the world wide web. Everyone from our sponsors, to our racers and race fans. If it wasn't for all of you, there would be no point to any of this. Also, big thanks to Julio, Paul and Isaac at Edinburg International Racetrack, for giving us a place to call home. We look forward to some awesome racing in 2010. The ET's have been dropping like the stock market...LOL! Everyone stay safe tonight and see you all at the races....

It always amazes me how many dudes will sit here and crap on our local track. "Oh, my car doesn't hook...oh..there is a big bump in the track...blah...blah...blah" Check these guys out in Mexico. They are doing what they love and ain't no one going to stop them. I don't think they run slicks, I think they run mud tires...LOL! This is a good idea for anyone that doesn't want to run at EIRT. Open up your own "Dirt Drag Racing Track"....HAHA!....God bless Mexicans and there spirit. I can already see The Ghost & The Undertaker coming up to the line with big 33 inch knobbies bolted on the back...heh.

Here are the track updates from last Wednesday night. A lot of cars out that night, just not a lot of fast ones. We went ahead and snapped a bunch of pics and got some of the fastest cars out there on video. There was this white turbocharged full size Chevy out there. Ran an 8 second pass from what I can remember. That is down right cool by my book. Ralph "The Hired Gun" was also out trying to tame The Phenom Stang. Looks like they finally got the car running straight and strong. Check out the video and track pics below....

"DUDES! BUY A GOLF CART!"

Author:

Date Posted: 14:26:47 12/22/09 Tue

As you all know, our government just LOVES!!! giving out our cash. So here is something that might benefit the racing community. We might start seeing some nicer golf carts in the pits..LOL! If you bought a cart that fits these rules and you didn't take the $6500 credit, then you better call your accountant right now!!!....

The government has a bunch of wacky credits available to people who buy plug-in electric vehicles. These credits were granted in the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008, and we presume they were aimed at getting people to buy plug-in electric cars. In typical fashion, loopholes were identified and now the government is shelling out thousands of dollars to people buying so-called "road worthy" golf carts, and we don't mean Kias, we mean actual golf carts.

A Chicago Tribune story mentions that dealers and manufacturers can't build these things fast enough as the window on the big credits closes at the end of the year, so people are rushing to buy.

So what makes a golf cart "road worthy"? According to the story, "Regular golf carts don't qualify for the tax credit, but if a model has windshield wipers, taillights, headlights, blinkers and seat belts, it is considered roadworthy and can be purchased at a massive discount, courtesy of the federal government."

Check you calender, it's not April first. This is actually happening.
