It's been a while since we have seen Ruben Ybarra's bad to the bone wheel standing Chevy II Nova. Last time we saw it out, it was aiming it's headlights straight for the sky! Got these updated pics in the mail today. The car is finally back from Mike Vega's shop. Ruben wanted us to highlight the awesome work done by Mike and his son, Mike Jr. A lot of work has been done to the car. Both in the suspension and safety department. Ruben would not tell me what is going to power this True 10.5 Monster. But he wants all the True 10.5 Ford guy's to take a look at the first pic. Cause it's all you guy's will be seeing. Starting with Joe Dirt!..Damn, them's is fighting words!...LOL!...Sweet ride Ruben. Thank's for update.

Got a call form the track today. They wanted me to go ahead and post up this update, for those of you that never visit the tracks website. But I know you all do right? Anyway, this is an update on the upcoming chassis certification for NHRA rules. Make sure you call early to save a spot for your car. Car does not have to be running or even have an engine. They just need to look at your bars.

This is also an update for the Racers Banquet on Saturday, February 2nd 2008. Make sure you make plans to come to the show. We all have a great time and you get to see who won all the points and awards for the 2007 racing season. Last year, we had a blast. I want to see all of our headsup guy's there. Last year there were only about five of us. We should have a lot more this year. See you all there...

Just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page. Our Top 10 tire rule is TRUE 10.5's and true 10.5's only. No "S" tires, no "W" tires, no "E", "C", "A", "F"....NOTHING!!!...If we check your tires, we don't want to see any letters or numbers after the 10.5 mark. Remember, I carry a measuring tape with me and I do make random tire size checks. I am also depending on you guy's to police yourself's. If you see something is not right, let me know. I follow the Texas True 10.5 Rules and that is what we stick to. For the rest of our Top 10 rules, please click on the banner below. This same banner is at the top of the page for all to see. So no excuses....Thanks!

Guess we have some people here who seem to think that running 8 second 1/4 miles on True 10.5's is an easy task. I am here to tell you that simply is not the case. If it was, we would have a bunch of cars already out there doing it, consistently. But we obviously don't. So far we have....

Rick Garcia - Ben Gar Racing Stang
Joel Cura - Sea Biscuit Turbo Stang
Charlie Deleon - Joe Dirt Stang
Juan Molina - 1BadBird Trans Am
Sergio Garcia - The Iceman Corvette
Faustino Hernandez - 1/4 Mile Killer Camaro
Henry Thomae - Undertaker Chevelle
Ruben Sanchez - The Mutt Stang
Angel Padilla - Nemesis Stang
Ruben Trevino - Flaming Cheeto Nova

I might be missing one or two, including some that did it, but I believe they were on "W" tires, not True 10.5's. So correct me if I am wrong. Now all these guy's worked their asses off to get there. They didn't sit behind a key board and dream about this or that. They got it together, did what they had to do and became part of an elite group that drives the fans crazy at the track.

Hmmm..now that I look at it. Seems to me we have a pretty good amount of cars so that we could run our own True 10.5 Shootout. Most of these cars are withing the same ET. That gives me some ideas. Anyway, again, give props where they are do. Now don't sit there and brag about how easy it is. If you think that is true, let's see what you got. Bring it out to EIRT and line'em with one of the Big Dog's.

Orlando replied to Henry's challenge and said he is not going to make it within' the two week time frame. Therefore, Henry will get the Spot. Now, Henry will be at the track tonight in the '56 Chevy. He said if anyone wants to run him tonight for the Spot he will be ready. You just need to bring a car that run's 8.30 @ 175mph to compete. Now I know there are some monsters out there. So who will knock Henry off the Ultimate Outlaw spot? Like Henry always say's, COME GET YOU SOME!!!......

This Friday night, we didn't have any match races setup. But the guy's were trying to get something going. First race that almost happened was between Henry's '56 Chevy and Danny's Phenom Mustang. Everything looked good for a race. The Phenom, with Ralph Olivarez at the wheel had just ripped out a mid 8 second pass. Henry came up in lane #10 for the race when word came that the Phenom crew was just not ready for this monster. So Henry made an alone pass for the Ultimate Outlaw Spot. You can check out the video below by clicking on the pic........

Out doing some testing was our #1 Spot holder, Charlie Deleon. I know Charlie is looking for a mid 8 second ET and it seems like the power is there. Charlie called me and told me he is having a hard time keeping the car on the ground. So I gave him the green light to go ahead and throw some wheelie bars on the Mustang. We should see some really good numbers once he is able to keep the nose down. Check out this HARD hit by Charlie from Friday night. You can clearly see why Charlie is our #1 Spot holder....click on the small pic below for video....

Also out doing some testing was Juan C Penaflor in his Vitamin C Stang. This car belonged to his brother who passesd away. So Juan finished the car in his honor. Right out of the chute, the Vitamin C Stang ripped out a 9 second all motor pass! Very impressive Juan. He has already made a challenge for the #3 Spot against the current spot holder, Juan Valdez. Check out Juan's test hit below by clicking on the pic.....

We have some really good match races coming up. Including the race for the #1 Spot between Henry's Undertaker Chevelle and Charlie's Wheelie King Stang. Also on the agenda is a grudge race between Henry in his 1956 Chevy and Angel Padilla's Turbo Stang. You know, Angel need's to stop screwing around on the kiddie board and just come race with the BIG DOGS full time. Every time he wants a race, he has to come over here looking for one because there is nobody over there who can even touch him. When you are ready for the jump Angel, Texasdragracing.com will greet you with open arms.

One thing before we get the picture gallery and pictures. I left before this happened, but word is Charlie made a pass with Ralph Olivarez, driving Phenom for just a fun test hit. In this test hit, Charlie Deleon came out on top. Word is the Phenom crew was offended because of cheering from the crowd and Charlie's crew. Guy's, this is just racing. We are not here to fight or start personal shit with each other. If you cannot handle loosing a race, then don't race. We are all here just for the sport and the love of dragracing. This goes for everyone! We are not about CHINGASOS or nothing like that. If you lost, come back stronger and call the guy out again. Let's let our cars do the talking for us. Not our crew members or car owners with fighting words.

Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone of that. That is it for me. I leave you with the picture gallery. Again, with some great help by my friend, Abel Puents and his magic camera. As always, check back for updates and I will see you at the races........

hey thanks for the directions and is there gonna be a link to the 2008 schedule when its done? also whats the cost to race and regulations, can i have cutoffs on my headers? sorry i dont have any photos out here with me i am in afghanistan right now and returning home soon where all my pics are, but my car is a 92 z28 camaro 25th anniversary edition, dont have much done other than exhaust, shifter, and i took out the a/c and put in a free spinning pulley, i have out here so i havent done anyother upgrades, gonna do more when i get back!!

Replies:
  • Brett, the schedule will be up on the tracks website www.edinburgracetrack.com. As far as rules, just follow NHRA rules for the ET your car runs. If you run 13.99 & faster, you have to wear a helmet. If you run 11.49 and faster, you have to have a roll bar, fire jacket, safety harnesses and various other safety devices for your vehicle. Cutoff's or open headers are fine at EIRT. But our Top 10 cars all run mufflers. Stay safe in Afghanistan, and thank you for your service to our country. -- Mod, 18:12:55 01/14/08 Mon

Won't have time to post video's tonight. So here is a quick report of the races we had scheduled for tonight. First up, for the #10 Spot, Marty "The Hitman" lined up against the Jalapeno Assassin Malibu. They had a good run, except the Jalapeno started to come apart before the traps. Seems a head gasket let go and filled up the car with smoke. The end result was Jalapeno with an 11.00 @ 109 mph pass to Marty's 11.27 @ 120 mph pass. Marty succesfully defending his spot. Congrats Marty.

For the #1 Spot, it never happened. The Undertaker burned up it's MSD box and was not able to make the call. Sux too cause it burned up right before they were supposed to race. Henry said he is going to run two MSD boxes now and this won't happen again. Charlie did make a pass for the #1 Spot and once again, the Killer went for the sky. Shooting straight up to the sky on launch and giving Charlie one hell of a run. Check it out!!!....Check back tomorrow for pics and video.....

As promised, here are the pics and video's from last nights action. Races went pretty smooth last night. Some short cleanups, but other than that, it was smooth. The lanes not over packed so if you wanted to make a lot of passes, it was not going to be a problem. There were some really fast cars out doing the Test & Tune thing. Including Ralph Olivarez, pilot of the Phenom Stang. They were out there with Roy Perez from Eagle Racecars. Word is Roy is helping them setup the suspension for our local track. Phenom will be flying when all is said and done.

First up for the video's is the race for the #10 Spot between Jalapeno & Marty. You will see that the race was pretty close. And I do believe the Jalapeno has already posted a challenge. This time, it will have to be for the #9 Spot, since I moved everyone up one spot last night. That leaves the #10 Spot if anyone wants to make a pass for it tomorrow night, post up now. Next video is of Charlie's awsome wheel stand and pass for the #1 Spot. The last video is of a test hit by the Phenom Stang. Check them out....

**CLICK ON PIC FOR VIDEO**

These are some pics we managed to snap off. Marty, I just can't seem to get a good picture of your car. For one thing, it's black. Which is awful for night pics. Next is the fact that you always come up to run with your headlights on. That kicks in the filter on the camera and makes the pictures even darker. Maybe I can come over to your house during the daytime and take pics. Or maybe, you can turn off your headlights.
