Last night at the Weslaco HEB Cruise-In, my friend Mike brought in his beautiful 04 Mystic Cobra. Mike and his wife, Melissa, rode a bus all the way to Dallas, Texas, a 10 hour trip, to pickup their dream car. The 04 Mystic Cobra is a very rare ride. To give you an idea of how rare, these cars are selling for $30,000+ on the web. What other 5 year old domestic ride do you know of that holds its value so well? Here is a pic of a 04 Mystic Cobra similar to the one Mike picked up.

Within about 15 minutes of Mike bringing in his car, we look over to where he parked it, safely, or so we thought and there is an older gentleman leaning against the car. He is holding a big video camera in one hand, his other hand right on the fender, along with his ass. I told Mike, dude, if you do not say something, I will. So after much thought, Mike finally agree's that it is not right for this guy to just be leaning on his car.
Mike walks over to the man, who was having a conversation with who I believe was the show promoter. I only assume this because this other man is the one that greeted us at the entrance and gave us our free food coupons. Anyway, Mike, very politely, asks the man if he could please not lean on the car. It has a very expensive paint job on it. The man immediately takes offense and replies to Mike; "I have a car at home with a much more expensive paint job than your whole car." Mike tells him, well, that's nice, Why don't you bring it over here so I can lean on it? Of course, both older gentlemen took offense to this and walked away.
We thought that was pretty much it, until about 5 minutes later. Here comes back the show promoter with a "waiver" form for Mike to sign. He tells Mike, sign this, in case your car is damaged, we don't want anyone to be responsible. No big deal, I signed one of these for my El Camino and my son signed one for his Ram-Air. Except that the guy then told Mike, "You were rude" Woah! I stepped in and told the guy, "Rude? How would you like for someone to be leaning on your car?" Of course, he agreed that it was not cool for his friend to be leaning on peoples cars.
So, what is your opinion on this? I myself have bitten my tongue many times after seeing people leaning against my car. Why, well because I have sort of a short fuse. I have learned in my old age to just hold my self back and not say anything. How do you all feel about this? Was Mike wrong to ask this guy not to lean on his car? I heard that the recent fight at the track was over something similar to this. Some guy was leaning on another guys truck, the owner didn't like it and out came the chingasos. I for one, have always taught my Sons to respect other peoples cars. Hell, I have thought them not to lean on even our own cars...LOL!
What would you do or have you done when you see someone leaning on your car? Do you just walk away and hope they are not there when you come back? Or do you say something and get ready for a fight? Let us know what you think...

Edited 1 time. Replies:
- Not cool at all. Mutual respect should be given on both parts. You and your buddy were not wrong at all it was all that old farts fault. You should have shown him how strong your pimp hand was. -- My two cents, 12:28:58 08/23/09 Sun
- Always stand your ground! I for example dont mind anyone leaning up against my truck but then again its a $75 paint kit from oreillys. I saw that car last night and it is nice paint so yes I would have said somethinng to the guy. There was a 50 something chrysler suburban he could of gone and leaned up against as well, but I bet the owner would have bitched him out! -- farmtruck, 12:43:56 08/23/09 Sun
- I say Its your car you spend good money on it. You should have every right to tell them something. -- George, 13:12:58 08/23/09 Sun
- Kick the guys ass and send him packing. -- Ben There, 13:21:51 08/23/09 Sun
- damn mike already somebody hating on the ride ..i would of done the same thing mike f**k that old fart !!! -- bobby, 13:23:30 08/23/09 Sun
- I agree with Smiley, I really don't care if someone leans on my car as long as I know them and they don't lean too hard. LOL These are just old racecars though. But a showcar on the other hand, is a totally different story so yes he should stand his ground. Anyone with common sense should know you are at a "car show." --

- The way i look at it, If That person or persons are leaning on your car they should have a lawn chair with them if they are that tired they should sit there asses on a chair and not someones elses fender or trunk in other words its BULLSHIT its like laying in another mans bed without permission -- My Pennies Worth--Joel, 15:07:50 08/23/09 Sun
- Definitly say something teach them what is right. Not only at shows but I had a car up from the rear once on stands while working on it and a relative I hardly see came, lit a cigarette and leaned on it. I quickly gave him a chair and ordered him off. -- Daniel Guerrero Jr. ( Poison Dart), 16:55:59 08/23/09 Sun
- not cool at all I have done that though leaned up on someones car its cool if its an old school heavy chevy like henry's cause its heavy duty metal but the new cars tend to warp if you lean on them then you get the wave on the body. -- EL PACO, 18:42:33 08/23/09 Sun
- I really didn't mind that much until he got really comfortable, plus I'm sure he would of told me to get off his " exspensive painted car ". I guess it just depends who or what is the circumtance someone is leaning on ur car. I defineattly wouldn't do it at a carshow that's for sure. -- Kreeper281, 23:48:11 08/23/09 Sun
- Bullshit bro him having his own pride and joy should understand where ur coming from especially an older cat should no better its not like he's some 17 year old kid that wouldn't understand or knows better!!!! you definitely did the right thing. -- EL PACO, 00:51:53 08/24/09 Mon
- There's three things you don't mess with a man's beer, his wife and his ride. -- ., 06:37:06 08/24/09 Mon

- HEY MARK YOU & MIKE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO SAY SOMETHING, BESIDES THAT THE SHOW PROMOTER SHOULD'VE TOLD HIS FRIEND NOT TO LEAN ON THE CAR KNOWING THATS SOMEONE ELSE CAR & HAVE SOME RESPECT. I KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS WENT THROUGH THAT HAPPENED TO ME WITH A 2-DAY FRESH PAINT JOB, SOME GUY LEANED ON MY CAR BUT HE SCRACHED IT WITH A BOTTON ON HIS JEANS & ALL HE SAID WAS SORRY, SHIT I WAS PISSED. IT'S NO MYSTIC PAINT BUT STILL, NOT ONLY IS YOUR CAR YOUR PROPERTY, IT'S ALSO WHO YOUR ARE AND PART OF YOUR PRIDE, THATS WHY I THINK IT GIVES ANYBODY THE RIGHT TO STAND YOUR GROUNDS. THATS MY OPINION -- JC GARZA, 09:16:18 08/24/09 Mon
- PURO PINCHE PEDO..THE GUY DONT OWN SHIT..IF HE DID THEN HE WOULD HAVE SHOWED MORE RESPECT TOWARDS YOUR CAR OR ANY OTHER CAR OUT THERE...GUYS AN IDIOT -- RESPECT, 10:42:49 08/24/09 Mon

- Damn that didnt sound two nice, I meant you guys deserve that new cool ride. : ) -- Juan, 16:36:16 08/24/09 Mon
- Some of these cheese dicks just don't get it. the brads on the back of most jeans, kick a paint jobs ass. This guy had better realize he just got a pass, 'cause if I caught him on my 8K paint, he's gonna meet my Louisville slugger. That pisses me off!!!!!!!!!!! -- Warchild, 17:43:05 08/24/09 Mon
- DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, JUAN WE KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. AS FAR AS THIS THREAD GOES, THIS IS BULL SHIT! THEY LEANED ON HIS SHITTY CAR AND THAT'S THE END OF STORY. NOW LET'S SEE SOME CHALLENGES. SHIT THIS IS A DRAG RACING BOARD NOT A DR. PHIL OR OPHRA BOARD WTF. LEAVE THE CAR AT HOME IF IT IS THAT PRECIOUS. -- HA HA HA, 17:47:29 08/24/09 Mon

- I have a mystichrome as well and people not do that but seen people almost give the car door dings, leaning on it, touch it like their hand is changing the color, etc, etc, just put a sensitive alarm and let the beeping do the talking. Congrats on buying a rare and beautiful cobra -- Modsquad, 16:56:32 08/26/09 Wed
