Got the pics and vids from last night done. Not alot going on, especially with school back and high school football back on. Still some die hard dudes out there. We also had a match race last night between Charlie, driving El Chapulin, and Juan Penaflor, piloting his Vitamin C stang. It was a good show, but Juan put the hurt on Charlie with an all motor 9.90 pass. We also have the world famous track action video. This one is right around 12 minutes long. And, of course, we got some great pics as always. Enjoy.....

Wondering what to do tonight? Well, come on out to Buffalo Wildwings in Weslaco, Texas at 5:00pm today. The F-Body guys (Camaro's & Firebird's) will be having a get together there. Even if you don't have an F-Body, come on out and join us. We will be hanging there for a little while, getting something to drink and eat.

Then, about 6:00pm, we will all be cruising to the Dairy Queen in Harlingen, on the loop, across from Cardenas Motors. Every Saturday night, this Dairy Queen hosts a cruise in get together. But the last Saturday of the month is the best one. Come on out and cruise with us. Meet some cool car guys, eat some wings, or cruise to the Dairy Queen with is, check out some cool hotrods and eat some ice cream.

If anyone needs to get a hold of me, you call can call me at 956-655-2835 for directions or time. The Buffalo Wild Wings in Weslaco is right off Expressway 83 and Mile 6 Rd. See you all there...

Kind of a slow night last Friday. So not a lot of action to take video of. But we did try to record the highlights of the night. The fastest car out there that night was Henry in The Overtaker Nova. Henry said he was shooting for some mid 4 second 1/8 mile passes. Nitrous issues and a loose track kept him from hitting his goal. How about you try some "Pimp Juice" Henry?....LOL! Anyway, to spice things up a bit, I threw in the newest song from Megadeth, called "1320" off their upcoming album called "End Game." 1320 of course relating to the 1/4 mile. Give it a look, and a listen by clicking on the link below....

Guess Back To School is really affecting the amount of racers at EIRT. Last night was absolutely dead out there. We still had a few die hards, like Henry Thomae, but the younger crowd was mostly non-existent. We still managed to snap off a few pics and we got some highlight video to post. For now, here is the gallery and some pics of last nights action.

Last night at the Weslaco HEB Cruise-In, my friend Mike brought in his beautiful 04 Mystic Cobra. Mike and his wife, Melissa, rode a bus all the way to Dallas, Texas, a 10 hour trip, to pickup their dream car. The 04 Mystic Cobra is a very rare ride. To give you an idea of how rare, these cars are selling for $30,000+ on the web. What other 5 year old domestic ride do you know of that holds its value so well? Here is a pic of a 04 Mystic Cobra similar to the one Mike picked up.

Within about 15 minutes of Mike bringing in his car, we look over to where he parked it, safely, or so we thought and there is an older gentleman leaning against the car. He is holding a big video camera in one hand, his other hand right on the fender, along with his ass. I told Mike, dude, if you do not say something, I will. So after much thought, Mike finally agree's that it is not right for this guy to just be leaning on his car.

Mike walks over to the man, who was having a conversation with who I believe was the show promoter. I only assume this because this other man is the one that greeted us at the entrance and gave us our free food coupons. Anyway, Mike, very politely, asks the man if he could please not lean on the car. It has a very expensive paint job on it. The man immediately takes offense and replies to Mike; "I have a car at home with a much more expensive paint job than your whole car." Mike tells him, well, that's nice, Why don't you bring it over here so I can lean on it? Of course, both older gentlemen took offense to this and walked away.

We thought that was pretty much it, until about 5 minutes later. Here comes back the show promoter with a "waiver" form for Mike to sign. He tells Mike, sign this, in case your car is damaged, we don't want anyone to be responsible. No big deal, I signed one of these for my El Camino and my son signed one for his Ram-Air. Except that the guy then told Mike, "You were rude" Woah! I stepped in and told the guy, "Rude? How would you like for someone to be leaning on your car?" Of course, he agreed that it was not cool for his friend to be leaning on peoples cars.

So, what is your opinion on this? I myself have bitten my tongue many times after seeing people leaning against my car. Why, well because I have sort of a short fuse. I have learned in my old age to just hold my self back and not say anything. How do you all feel about this? Was Mike wrong to ask this guy not to lean on his car? I heard that the recent fight at the track was over something similar to this. Some guy was leaning on another guys truck, the owner didn't like it and out came the chingasos. I for one, have always taught my Sons to respect other peoples cars. Hell, I have thought them not to lean on even our own cars...LOL!

What would you do or have you done when you see someone leaning on your car? Do you just walk away and hope they are not there when you come back? Or do you say something and get ready for a fight? Let us know what you think...

Tell you what, HEB has got the cruise-in thing down right. They have food carts, contests and even a DJ spinning some hot tunes all night. Got to mark my calender for the next one. Here are a few pics of some of the cool rides out there today. Hope to see you all out there at the next one.

The cruise in spot tonight is HEB, in Weslaco, Texas.
We have been to this one before and it gets packed.
HEB pulls out all the stops, giving out free
hot dogs and Coke's to anyone that brings out a hot rod.
They even have kids selling cold water.
The cruise-in's are open to any and all street machines.
Doesn't matter if it is old or new.
Bring it out and show it off at a cruise-in.

Now, they say people start arriving at 6:00pm, but the last time we were out there,
it was absolutely packed by 6:00pm. So, if you are heading out there, our suggestion
is that you get out there around 5:00pm, maybe sooner, if you want to grab a good spot.
We will be leaving in about an hour. See you all out there.
Oh yeah, we got a brand new batch of Texasdragracing.com stickers. Courtesy of Deleon Auto Accessories. If you need one, this is your chance to get one before we run out again.

Oh yeah, the HEB Cruise-In is at the HEB located at the corner of Westgate and Old 83. Exit Westgate and go South. You cannot miss it. This is the HEB near the huge HEB Distribution center. Taking off right now. See you all out there.

Here is a short video we made from Saturday's race. We didn't go out there in the day time because, well, I hate heat. I knew it was going to a 1000 degrees out there. So we waited until the night cooled down before heading out. Also, Saturday night is our car show/cruise in night. We like to spend our Saturday evenings hanging out with fellow gear heads at the local cruise in shows.

We made it out there around 9:00pm. Didn't find much going on, except the usual bracket races. There were some trucks left but by this time, a lot of them had gone home or street racing. Which is what I see most truck guys do on the way home from the track. I once had a guy racing another truck pass us in the median, where the grass is. It was freaking crazy. In another incident, I saw two guys come to a complete stop on Hwy 281 to line up for a race. These guys still had numbers on their trucks from racing at the track? Anyway, long story short, a Sheriff was right behind them..LOL! They both got pulled over.

In this video, you will see some video of the left over trucks, some rounds of bracket racing and best of all, a cool nitrous backfire. Keep an eye out around 3 seconds into the video. You will hear a loud bang and see flames....wow! Then you will hear the expert side line firefighters yelling for the track crew to open the hood. Yeah, I guess these dudes did not see the movie Backdraft. And what happens when you add more air to a fire...LOL! Anyway, they got the fire out and saved the truck. Check it out!!!....

Well, once in a while we get a thank you..heh. But man, if I take a day or two to post something, I catch hell about it...LOL! Oh well.

Sorry dudes, been busy. And editing takes a long time. It's not just, take video, take pictures and throw them at the internet and we are done. Nope, numerous software programs are used, a long with long, long hours of sitting in front of the screen. Hell, look how long it took the dudes from Pinks to post up a 30 minute video of the race in San Antonio? Took them fools almost a year! And I catch hell for a few days?...haha....

Oh well, tonight we have, obviously, a ton of pics. And I finished up the badass Track Action video from August 7th. Don't know what day that was and don't feel like checking, sorry. The point is, the video is up. So yeah, check it out. And how about some props after you all watch it? Gonna continue working on the rest of the video footage from Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th. Stay tuned for that....laterz....

Got some traction issues out at the track? You done tightened that nut, switched those tires, got them bigger rims and you still can't hook? Then stop wasting your time and money and get you some Pimp Juice now! Pimp Juice was developed by some of the countries fastest street racers. As you can see, it works great on the street and it works even better at the track. Check out this video of Joel Cura testing some Pimp Juice on "The Booger" Turbo Stang. With the help of Pimp Juice, Joel dropped almost 3 tenths of his ET.

**CLICK ON PIC FOR VIDEO**

Want to improve your ET's? Then order your Pimp Juice today! I am placing an order this weekend. And only those orders that are paid up in full will be placed. Pimp Juice comes in 1 gallon jugs and it will keep you Pimpin' for at least a week. It just depends on how greedy you get with your hook. Anyone wanting to place an order, pay for it using your Credit Card. Or give us your money at the track. The price is $45.00 with shipping for a one gallon jug. We will be taking orders until this Saturday only. Order yours right now!!!....

Very tragic story, for sure. You know, I have seen and heard some local racers doing this in the pits at EIRT. Goes to show how dangerous this activity really is. If you or anyone you know has done this at the track. Please tell them to stop. Because what you think could never, ever happen to you, just might. Our deepest condolonces to the family of Mr. Marcum.

Trans-Brake Mishap Causes Dragster to Crash Into Trailer

Ronald F. Marcum, 52, a sportsman drag racer from La Habra, Ca., was killed on Saturday morning at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, when the transmission on his dragster engaged during a routine test and hurtled the vehicle into a parked trailer. Ktla.com reported that Marcum struck a parked trailer in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Earlier in the morning, in preparation of the day’s racing activities, Marcum was seated in his dragster testing his trans-brake, this according to a report quoting CHP Officer Jeff Briggs. The NHRA requires the test to be conducted with the vehicle’s tires off of the ground. According to the Ktla.com, Marcum didn’t follow the procedure.

Briggs told Ktla.com only that Marcum sustained fatal injuries in the crash. According to reports, no one else was injured in the crash.

Marcum was one of a group of Southern California races who helped start the Pro Gas class in the early 1980s that later morphed into the current Super Gas category. Marcum was the 1981 champion in the Southern California Pro Gas Association. Two weeks ago, Val Torres Jr. drove Marcum's 67 Nova to the Super Gas victory at the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma, Calif.

Found this on another site. And I thought I would post it since some of these things do resemble some local racers. Don't worry, I won't say who. But you all keep an eye out for them the next time you are out at the race track...LOL!

Head sets.... is there a reason 5 crew members have head sets on? what is SOOO important that you need to tell the driver? all 5 of you? is it that you think you look CooooL? cause i never see your lips moving. is your day job at taco bell? how were 8/9 sec passes achieved 2 years ago without headsets? these days i dont think its possible without them. even though you dont move your lips.

crew1:sup
driver:nuttin
crew3: is the car on?
driver:yup
crew2: seat belts on?
driver: yup
crew1:is your door shut?
driver4: yup
crew5: can i have a burger when we get back?
driver: yup
crew3:go, go, go, go, go
driver: i am
crew1: you just went X.XX
driver: i know, i have the time slip
crew5: can i take my girl to the can on your golf cart?
driver: sure, wait for me too.

Temp guns and retards wearing flip flops on the starting line, you look like a idiot taking the "temperature" of EVERYTHING and every car out there. worry about your own shit. and stay away from other cars then they are staging.

Getting the car to the beams........ can your driver not see the beams? do they move every round? i can understand if the car is a rail job. but a late model mustang? chevelle? give me a break. just cause you saw T/F and F/C do it on TV doesnt mean you gotta do it. you look like a idiot. unless it makes you feel special inside.

Getting the car in the groove..........ok your throw your arms all over getting the car in the groove, or what you believe to be the groove. then the car blows the tires off....... did you really do a good job? i mean the car is up against the wall....

tip: if you cant open the doors on the car........you might be outta the groove.

Burnouts past the starting line.......ummmmm...... your NOT on TV, your NOT John Force. stop it. its not needed, no matter how much you think it is, its not. I mean I saw one car nearly take out the tree, flip over and hit the wall because the driver thought he was bad ass............ you weren't. you looked like a idiot. I watched a heavy radial car, do a VERY short burn out......and run 7.90s all day.......

dry hops=Gay

Data loggers.......... take the switch off the bumper and wire it to the trans brake. unless you think it super cool to have a crew member, rockin the head set turn it on. or how about this........switch in the car? can the driver turn it on? or are drivers not capable of performing such a task? i mean they cant get in the beams without assistance anymore, so maybe i am on to something?????

I know BS3 has a tps % that turns the logger on. lets say set it at 50% 75%??????? switch in the car, driver hits it after the burnout. i mean the crew member in charge of the "switch" is turning it on before you pre-stage!

Cowl hoods...........so big you can only run in the right lane? i didnt think it was possible.........couple people proved me wrong. big cowl hoods dont add inches to your dick. Forward facing scoops are exempt from this.......unless is a 70s snorkle

Bracket cars + throttle junkies= retards. We all know your primer chevelle is the baddest car out there on 31x36's, open headers and a riveted on cowl, we just dont want to hear you flat pedal it in neutral everytime you see someone on a cell phone or days that end in "Y". your badass, we get it.

There is a safe speed limit in the pits........its not 40mph. your doing 40 past spectators and kids to get in the staging lanes where your gonna sit for 30mins, SLOW DOWN.

I dont care how big your "200k Stacker" is, your not exempt from basic traffic laws. you cant just pull out in front of cars, golf carts, 4 wheelers. wait for an opening

Security....I can see your bad ass, you have a bullet proof vest on in the staging lanes, with your gun and extra magazine printing. un puff your chest, your worse than mall ninjas. i beg you please, pull your taser and see what happens, i have been hit before, part of police training. i bet you havent.........yet....keep acting like a hardass and youll find out soon enough

.In response to the OTTA post down the page: The OTTA organization is a great group of guys & girls. I have made it a point not to be outspoken as much as I used to be but I feel compelled to respond to this situation. I can't speak for everyone but I can give you my take on the Edinburg race. It was told to us from the beginning of the year that this was not to be a OTTA points race. We are committed to the series and are trying to win a points championship. We opted not to travel that far simply due to economics. My team set a schedule to run all of the OTTA stuff and maybe a couple big $ shootouts toward the end of the season. It has nothing to do with having the big head. I feel like the rest of the guys both OTTA and others had the same situation. I have read that the Mod. has been talking to a local racer over here that doesn't run with us. I'm assuming that since you wrote on our site that you now agree with him that what he said about us was negative. Well next time you talk to him ask him why he didn't show up. ... Don't let him tell you that he didn't know about it. Most of the OTTA guys get news letters from Bonnie and I'm POSITIVE he knew about it. I can show you a email about your race that he was included on... I'm sorry if you guys have a dislike for our organization now. But I'm positive that had any of you ever raced with us, you would know that we are a great bunch of people that do truely care about our sport and our fans and fella racers... Good day

***STOLEN RACE PARTS ALERT***

Got a call today from Jeff Benavidez from Area 51 Racing. Said some fools had the balls to vandalize and rob the Lobozon Chevy II Nova. Jeff is asking all racers to keep an eye out for some very special parts. Especially those of you who buy parts to resell. What is missing?

The thieves stole a custom made Wilson Intake off the engine. The intake has two Wilson Pro-Flow fogger kits installed on it. It also has a custom made Speedtech Spray Bar plumbed into it. Along with the intake, they also stole two badass Pro-Mod style Dominators. These are some very expensive race parts.

One thing Jeff wants any potential buyers to know is that this intake Will Not Fit Anything Else! It was all custom made for Lobozon. The intake, heads and block were all machined together. If come across anyone selling some Pro-Flow Foggers or Dominators, please call Jeff Benavidez immediately at 956-867-0599. There is a reward to anyone that has information on the thieves and where the parts are. Everyone keep an eye out. These parts are going to be hard to resell.

"WHY DIDN'T OTTA COME TO THE VALLEY?"

Author:
Mod
[Edit]

Date Posted: 13:15:04 07/28/09 Tue

OTTA = Outlaw True Ten Association. These are the people that were scheduled to come down to the Valley for the True 10.5 race. As far as I knew, the payout was guaranteed. Bonnie Web, herself told me the guaranteed payout was $4000 plus. The race had been agreed upon with Edinburg International Racetrack since January. Now, it turns out, according to some comments posted on their website, that the payout was not guaranteed and that is why Bonnie pulled the plug. Really? Cause when I spoke to Bonnie myself, at no time did she say anything about a payout. She told me they could not come because the majority of their cars were broken. After my call with her, I called Isaac Ebrom, and told him he better call Bonnie. He did and he told me the same thing. She was pulling the plug due to their cars being down.

These are posts made on their site about our race on Saturday.....

"I was wondering if any of you guys went to the race in the valley this past weekend.I know that there were a lot of fans wanting to see some of the otta cars.If none of you guys went The question is Why didnt you.they had a guarantee on the pay out.It doesnt look good for the otta cars for the fans when your invited to a race & you cant get at least two cars to show up. - Louis"

"This was not an OTTA race it was a True Ten race. If it was advertised as an OTTA race then the fans were mislead to begin with. There are guaranteed payouts for True Tens all over the place but you can not hold OTTA accountable for thier turnout if it is not an OTTA race. -- Bonnie"

"The purse was not "guaranteed" if it was there might have been some OTTA racers show up! We are not gonna drive 400 miles unless there is a Guaranteed purse!"

"If they want OTTA, they need to pay OTTA... All the other tracks had to step up to the plate. If they want to bargain shop then they will be taking a risk. OTTA has a lot of races on thier plate this season and have very few spare weekends to attend other events but Money talks. Bonnie worked very hard to get OTTA what they wanted so don't blame her or the racers for not wanting to drive 400 miles with a risky purse. -- "

"No wonder kejo doesnt race with you guys.Im glad your heads are so big.Keep thinking that way & you wont be invited anywere else.O yea Ive seen the pictures of the stands at the dallas race & the only reason that texas raceway was packed was because they had fuel altererds & funny cars.I sure hope that yall dont think the stands were packed because of you guys.He kenjo Now I agree with you A 100% - Louis"

Seems to me that some of these OTTA racers think they are some type of big traveling show who deserve to be paid for their attendance. Maybe next time, we should offer them $1000 each to show up, like we pay for Jet Cars, and just let them run themselves. Instead of trying to compete against our local talent. Let this be a lesson to those of you that travel out of town to support people who will not support us. Why would you spend your money on people who obviously think you are not worth their time?

I was going to post a link to Bonnie's site where you all can read more about this. But I don't want to promote someone who feels they are better than us. For the record, I allow Bonnie and anyone else from any other race association to promote their race on my site for free. I feel is common courtesy. I help you, you help me. And maybe we can all grow together. But I guess some feel they have grown to super star status...LOL!

We are good people down here. We race for the love of racing. We don't care about purses and what not. If we did, we wouldn't have match races as often as we do. Give our guys a nice trophy and they will love you do death. I did talk to a racer from up North and he told me they will be keeping an eye out for our next True 10.5 race and they will be coming down. They don't think what happened was right and they can drive 400 miles one way just as easily as they can drive 400 miles another way. Glad to hear. So, Angel, when is the next race???

So far, we have about 8 cars in the class. As of right now, The Phenom is the fastest qualifier with a 5.42 pass. The Ghost is the 2nd fastest with a 5.50 pass. The rest of the guys are either not getting down the track or running in the 6's. Here is a list of who is all here. I will see if I can get the qualifying ET's for you during the second round.

Tommy Hearn - The Ghost Stang
Ralph Olivarez - The Phenom
Ruben Ybarra - The Bounty Hunter
Rigo Trevino - Bad Blown '69 Camaro
Joel Cura - Big Red Stang
Juan Molina - Big Ford Stang
JustA6 - Turbo Charged S-10
Orlando Mendoza - The Reaper

The "Test-N-Tuners", as the class is being called by the track director, are being called back up to the lanes right now. I will be back with qualifying updates.

*********************************

Looks like some of the guys are getting their cars figured out. The 2nd round went a little smoother. Some cars are still having issues. They are going to have to figure it out as we go into eliminations. Results of the 2nd qualifying look like this;

JUSTA6 Turbo S-10 - 5.43
The Ghost - 5.46
The Bounty Hunter - 5.48
The Phenom - 5.58
Juan Molina - 5.60
Rigo Trevino - 6.47
Orlando Mendoza - 6.64
Big Red - 7.69

This does not mean that this will be the running order. If one of these guys went faster in their first qualifying pass, then that pass will be used for the ladder. Stay tuned for more updates.

********************

All right, 3rd and final round of qualifying is over. Looks like we now have a tie for the fastest qualifier with The Ghost and The Phenom both running 5.42's. These are the results.

The Ghost - 5.42
JUSTA6-S10 - 5.45
The Bounty Hunter - 5.53
Orlando Mendoza (Reaper) - 5.68
The Phenom - 6.57
Big Red - 5.90
Juan Molina - 9.27

Rigo Trevino did not come up for the 3rd and final round of qualifying. It is looking like some very good races coming up. You know, I have to say this. There are some guys who did not show just because they felt they could not compete. And as you can see, the numbers aren't all that crazy. Well, stay tuned for more updates from the elimination rounds.

*********************

All right, first round of eliminations is over. And it was good. There was a minor upset when the JUSTA6 S-10 deep-staged. Angel and I don't know what happened, but when the lights came down, he just sat and did not move. Here are the results and who is moving on...

The Bounty Hunter -vs- Juan Molina - Molina wins with a 5.50

The Reaper -vs- JUSTA6 S-10 - The Reaper wins

Rigo Trevino -vs- The Ghost - Ghost wins - Rigo Redlit

The Phenom -vs- Big Red - The Phenom wins with a 5.36

As you can see, the Phenom is really stepping it up. I know some of the cars going into the 2nd round (semi-finals) are still holding back though. So The Phenom doesn't have it in the bag just yet. Any of you want to predict who will be in the finals??? Stay tuned for another update in about 30 minutes....

*********************

Semi-finals are done. Looks like we have a small block Chevy on juice going up against a turbo-charged Ford small block. In the final, it is going to be The Phenom -vs- The Ghost. It is going to be a damn good race. This is how it went down;

The Ghost -vs- Juan Molina - Ghost wins with a with a 5.45 over Molina's 5.47 effort. You know, got to give credit to Juan Molina. All of his passes were on a Mickey Thompson 315 drag radial tire.

The Phenom -vs- The Reaper - This is certainly one race we all wanted to see. These cars are easily making more power than any other car out here. This race was a total pedal fest when both turbo Stangs broke the tires loose right past the 60ft mark. It was a fight to the 1/8 mile with The Phenom coming out on the top. The ET's were a 5.95 for the Phenom -vs- a 6.14 effort for the Reaper.

I know it is late. But I know you all won't want to miss who wins this. Will it be a small block Chevy with a habit? Or will it be a boosted Ford Stang? Come back and find out in about 40 minutes.

********************

Sorry for the long intermission dudes. After the final, we had to take pictures of the winners from all the bracket classes. so that delayed the update. Well, if you bet on the Ghost to take the win tonight, then you should visit Vegas sometime. At the hit, Ralph "The Hired Gun" Olivarez, took the lead and kept it until the tires broke loose on the Phenom at about the 330ft mark. That is all The Ghost, driven by Ed Galbraith, needed to bring home the win.

Awesome races dudes. I want to thank Angel Padilla, Rick and their crew for taking over the duties of getting the cars set up and ready to race. I also would like to thank Julio Cantu for giving a little extra cash to 1st and 2nd place. And a big thank you to Henry Thomae for providing the always awesome trophies to the winners. Also, big thank you to the fans and racers of TDR. Without you guys, the dragracing scene would be kinda boring in the 956. It is 3AM, we are dead tired, Check back for pics and video later today. Goodnight.
