Guess I am going to have to help after all, since some racers are already backing out. Must be a lot of Yellow Chickens down here if no one wants to come on out for a real True 10.5 battle! I hear some dude is crying about $100. How can someone have 10's of thousands of dollars in their car, then complain about $100?...Makes no sense to me at all. Anyway, with or without you, we are having this race.

So, to those of you who are coming out. Here is your flyer. Save it to your computer and start passing them out to all your friends and family. We are going to print out a ton of copies and pass them out at O'Reilly Auto Parts and any other speed shop or parts store that wants to help out. If anyone wants to lend us a huge printer, then that would be awesome as well. I will be posting this banner all over Texas websites. And I hear some cars from out of town ARE COMING! We don't want to let them down right?

Let's get ready to throw down. Bolt on a set of 29.5 x 10.5 slicks and come on out. We don't care how big your motor is or turbo is. If your cars fits the simple rules, then come on out and race. This is the first True 10.5 race of it's kind in the Rio Grande Valley. There are people betting against us, so let's give them heartburn and show them that The Valley does have a bunch of badass race cars that can compete. See you all there...

Congratulations to all of the winners from last nights races. Throwing the True 10.5 racers into the mix really made for a great night of racing action. Even though we didn't get the full 16 car field, the cars that did show up more than made up for that. The action was door to door close and the fans that showed enjoyed some of the best headsup action ever.

From the get go, myself and others felt that a 5.40 car would take the win home. And sure enough. It was a consistent 5.40 car that took the win. The winning car was made up of many different teams. Ford, Chevy, Tommy Hearn and Ed Galbraith, all joined together to get this Chevy-Stang down the 1/8 mile in consistent fashion. Pass after pass, the Ghost was knocking out the competition and never looking back. Good job to the Ghost Team and good job to everyone that showed up to race.

If last nights races are any indication of how the races are going to go today, then we are all in for an awesome show. The Pro-Comp 5.50 Index guys put on one hell of a show. This class is made up mostly up of TDR racers and fans. The races were so close. With most cars running under the Index. Now, can you imagine what will happen when they let it all hang out on True 10.5's? This is one show you all won't want to miss.

Right now, we have to congratulate Hernandez Bro's Racing for their win last night in Pro-Comp. There were more cars in this class than their has ever been. And Tommy Hernandezs' little mouse motor stayed together and took out all comers. Awesome job dudes. In Pro-Gas, Michael Pennington brought a newly purchased Vette, no, not a Corvette, the other Vette. The Chevette...LOL! That's right, a Chevette. They took the win over Charlie Deleon with a super close race with both racers running the exact same ET. Seperated only by Michael's .015 reaction to Charlie's .030 light. Now THAT is close racing.

In other classes, Johnny Trevion took home the 1/4 Mile Clash race and Quick, it was Jarod Wilson that came out on top. Again, congrats to everyone that one their respective classes last night. We look forward to today's show. See you all out there.

If you have any questions to ask, NOW is the time. I expect to see a full house worth of True 10.5 monsters from the Rio Grande Valley. If you have a True 10.5 ride and don't come out to this race, then stay home and don't show your face around here anymore..LOL!

Seriously guy's, Bonnie and the track worked real hard on getting this together. So let's get all of our cars out there. I already heard some crying from some local racers who I won't name. But I told them, no one is forcing you into anything. All we are saying is, if you don't come out and race this race, then you is a big yalla chicken...HAHA!.

Lets get serious about this and let me see a show of hands on who all is showing up on the 25th. Post up, call me, send me an e-mail, a letter by mail, I don't care. Just post up so we can see who all is going to make this race. The rules are pretty open, so we should see some of our 7 second cars come out an play as well. All's you have to do is throw some NON-W tires on your ride. Now, let the smack talking commence!!!...

For all of your roll cage, chassis work, sheetmetal, special brackets, whatever, give Roy Perez at Eagle Race Cars a call. Roy has been building race cars for years and has the experiance to get your race car or street car down the 1/4 mile safely and quickly. Before you call anyone else, give one of our sponsors a call. After all, without them, the fans would not get all this fun for free.

All right, we are just a couple of days away from the world famous True 10.5 Shootout at Edinburg International Racetrack. Got some awesome footage of some of the cars testing last Friday night. The Ghost was out there, running some low 30's to the 1/8 mile. The Phenom was also out there carrying the fronts to about the 1/8 mile. Thing looked freaking sick. Ron Martin was also out testing his monster on, get this, Drag Radials. With professional driver, Chris Bullard, behind the wheel, I believe they set a track record for the fastest pass on drag radials at Edinburg International Racetrack. Running some mid 5's to the 1/8 mile on a soft tune. Check out these guys and more on our weekly, Track Action video. Straight from the fastest little track in South Texas, Edinburg International Racetrack.

Had a great time on the cruise Saturday. The cruisers met at Eliff Motors in Harlingen, for a car gathering and drivers meeting. We left there around 3:30pm on our way to Port Isabel, Texas, about a 60 mile cruise. Tommy Barron and Louie Olsen took us through some nice Valley back roads. Making our way to Laguna Vista. From there, Port Isabel PD rounded us all behind Point Isabel High School. They got everyone in line and proceeded to parade all the cars through town, on our way to our final destination at the Pelican Station Restaurant. Here are over 100 pics we snapped during the cruise. We have another cruise coming in September. So start getting ready cause you won't want to miss it.

Instead of posting every single car that made a pass that night. Here are the last three video's we shot. Only one missing is video from the 10th. And that is because the races were cancelled that night. We will be posting up the match race video's from Wednesday, tonight. Before we head out to the track again. Enjoy...

"SLO-MO WAGON UPDATE"

Author:
Mod
[Edit]

Date Posted: 22:30:02 07/12/09 Sun

Started work on the Slo-Mo Wagon again. We installed a whole new front suspension some time back. We picked it up the wagon for $500 from my father in law and it was in sad state. The front bushings and ball-joints were completely wasted. The brakes also needed immediate attention. As well as the bearings and just about anything that moved in the front end. On the plus side, the floor boards and frame are ultra nice and the frame is as clean as can be found.

Haven't done much to it sense. Except bracket race it and we also installed a new CD player. One of the major things that stopped us from working on it was the fact that these G-Body wagons come with a sad 7.5" 10-bolt differential. These things cannot take any type of real horsepower. Sure, you can beef things up a bit with a better unit and some axles. But, it will just be a ticking time-bomb.

My way of building a new project when it comes to making power is to start with the rear-end. What good is it to add a huge engine, a kick ass transmission, a boss fuel system and some sticky slicks, if the rear-end will not take it? So after some research, I found out that rear-ends for these G-body cars are super expensive. The cheap alternative is to find an 8.5" 10-bolt rear-end out of a Buick Grand National or Buick T-Type. But even those have now started to go up in price. I have seen prices that range from $500 all the way up to $2000 for a complete unit.

So, after a mad search with a very tight budget, we got lucky enough to find this Malibu locally. The Malibu came with a super nice 12-bolt differential. We got the car for roughly what a new Moser 12-bolt rear-end would cost. We gave it a lot of thought on whether we should just fix up this car and go racing. Or whether we should complete the wagon. After a lot of brain storming by my sons and I, we decided that finishing the wagon was the best way to go.

Why? Well, because we like to build street cars. And by street car I don't mean something that we can cruise to the shows or to the track once in a while. No, we like to build cars that we would not be afraid to jump in and go grocery shopping. Or maybe take a cruise to Houston, San Antonio, where ever. Something my wife, kids or even my Mom could drive...LOL! The wagon as it sits is complete. It has a full interior. The 305 under the hood is complete right down to the factory A/C, which we intend to keep. The Malibu on the other hand is a race car. From the gutted out interior with roll-bar, to the manual brakes and steering, to the gutted out firewall. It is just not what we want to build.

Today, we got both rear-ends out. We are going to install the stock 10-bolt 7.5" rear-end back into the Malibu and it is going up for sale. Like most of you, we are on a tight budget. And the money will come in handy so we can order some new suspension parts. As soon as we have the Malibu back in roller condition, we will be posting it in the classifieds. But, if anyone is interested in it, shoot me an e-mail.

That is all we have for tonight. Stay tuned for more updates on the Texasdragracing.com "Slo-Mo Wagon" project. In the next few weeks, the transmission will be going in for a full rebuild and we will be ordering some engine parts to get that started. The goal is to have it done before the end of the year. I will be posting updates in our Proboards "Readers Rides" section for a more permanent location. If you have a car or cars you would like featured in the Proboards "Readers Rides" section. Shoot me an e-mail with a discription of your hotrod. I will then post it all up for you with pictures and all. Thank you for your time and you all have a good night.

AREA 51 you need to understand that bracket racing has been around a long time. I have been a bracket racing for over 20 years. Yes the sport has changed and there is no promises of any kind in drag racing. I have driven hundreds of miles paying trip money and made it to a race that was raind out or low car count with limited pay out that is just the nature of the BEAST!!!!
If you see the pattern of racing with the pro street shoot out and board racing among a few, car count is always LOW. I strongly support a racer like THE UNDERTAKER by taking the situation and trying to make it a positive one. RGV RACE FUEL will be also promoting this race with a few exceptions that are going to be worked out by my and the undertaker...

Sometimes we have to see it to believe it and after 3 years of heads up racing, we can all see that Outlaw Racing brings in more spectators than Bracket Racing. You should know for yourself as you have the best seat from the tower to see that what I am saying is true. It is our common nature to want to see extraordinary things that stand out from our daily task. So when a jet car comes to town there is advertising to bring in the spectators. Keep in mind that 8 and 7 second turbo and nitrous cars are not your everyday cars either. So why is it so hard to inform the public of the Extremes of Heads Up Racing. Many people think that this is only available outside of the Valley. With a little promotion and proper advertising of these races, we could see an increase in spectators for these events. Radio and television are not the only means to reach the masses. With all the people you get on Wednesday and Friday Nights you would think that you would be able to get a good turnout for an event like this on a Friday. Sometimes you have to invest a little to make a little, so don't be complacent and afraid to step out and take that chance. If not you will never see your business grow.

"MESSAGE FROM THE RACE TRACK"

Author:
Mod
[Edit]

Date Posted: 21:08:41 07/09/09 Thu

As you already know, we (Edinburg International Racetrack) did NOT cancel the Outlaw True Ten race on Saturday July 25. The association from Houston, who we made arrangements with in January 09, cancelled on us.

We are still having our regular Bracket program on Saturday July 25 along with the normal Test & Tune. The Test & Tune is open to all vehicles; moreover, any group can arrange their own race on any given night.

We have received a couple of calls and emails about still having an Outlaw class on July 25 and our responds has been the same to each. Basically, it is up to the drivers to organize the race on their own. This statement is true for any group on any night. We will not make rules for a group, pay a group, or enforce requirements. Anything a group does is up to them.

Once the track gets involved, the race becomes a show. We can promote the show by radio, newspaper, TV, and the Internet. “This Saturday come see Pro Stocks at Edinburg International Racetrack!” In order to guarantee certain shows, a payment is sometimes required from the track. The payment is not always money and is usually based on certain conditions.

Believe it or not, we spent $10,000 in just trophies last year. The hardware brings drivers to events such as Truck Trophy, Import Invasion, Bike Night, etc. Drivers in the Bracket Bash or Index Classes can win money based on the number of entries.

I talk about money because according to drivers that is the answer. If money is the answer then why did we only get five cars in the Outlaw Shootout last year with a guaranteed payout of $2,500. Why did the car count in our Sportsman class increase over 50% when we reduced the payout by over $1,000? I understand drivers would like to track to offer money for the Outlaw class.

The first problem is we cannot promote this event based upon hearsay. We can pay a Jet Car to make exhibition runs and make that money back by drawing more spectators. It is hard for us to place a radio ad saying this Saturday we might have an Outlaw class.

We would like to stick with the schedule and still have an Outlaw True Ten race thus we can offer a one-time deal. Please note this will be the only time the track does this since we already had a show setup.

IF we have at least 16 cars make first round of eliminations AND IF we get more than 500 paid spectators then the track will add $500 to the Outlaw payout. IF we get more than 1,000 people—we will add $1,000. IF we get more than 1,500, we add $1,500 to the payout.

As I said earlier, we cannot promote the class based on speculation therefore it is up to the drivers to do so. The more people they bring, the more money we pay!

Thanks…Isaac Ebrom

Sorry guys, just got the news. The True 10.5 race at the end of the month has been cancelled. From what I understand, Bonnie Web, was having a hard time getting enough cars together to bring down to The Valley. I think she was only getting commitment from two racers. And well, that just isn't enough. Even though we were able to get about 20 cars together from down here, she decided to pull the plug. I want to thank Issac and Julio from Edinburg International Racetrack for trying to put together a real True 10.5 race. Hope something like this comes up in the future and we can get a race like this off.

Hey, what do you all think of the new background color? I never really liked that blue color. So after 5 years, I finally figured out how to change it..LOL! I think it looks better myself. Anyway, we finally have video of the match races from last Wednesday night. You know, considering some sites take up to a year to post video, I don't think we do too bad. I see Smiley posting almost on a daily basis. So that tells me one thing. He is looking for video of his Farm Truck kicking some Ford butt. And rightly so. That thing is a beast. Don't know of any other full weight Chevy run this fast anywhere in South Texas. Awesome job Smiley.

The first video for tonight is of the race between Sniper and Smiley. I can't help but wonder if the Sniper crew had any idea of what they were getting themselves into. Maybe they thought the race was going to as they say "Papitas?" After all, no way a monster like that could go so fast. And by monster, I mean the truck, not Smiley. Even though, Smiley is no little boy either. This was a damn good race. Thank you Smiley for calling me to come on out to the track. I sure as heck didn't want to miss this one.

With Sniper put away for the night. It was now Chapulin's turn to get shown some big Chevy tail-lights. After seeing the previous race, I am guessing the battle plan for the Chapulin crew was to put Smiley in the bad lane and throw a light at him. In hopes that A. Smiley would spin and B. Smiley would spin...LOL! Well, Smiley did spin, but that did not matter. Right at the hit, Chapulin lit up the big red "You Lose" bulb. And like a true racer, Smiley gave chase anyway. Coming around Chapulin to run ANOTHER 9.79 pass. In the "bad" lane no less. Again, awesome job dudes. You all put on a great show.

This next race was unexpected. Got a phone call from Jesse Torres. Told me him and Tony Bullet, had come to an agreement and they was gonna do it for the #10 Spot. Told Jesse, bring'em up. This one was a classic Old Skool Blown Carbed Stang -vs - a New Generation Outlaw EFI Blown Stang. This promised to be an awesome race. And it did not dissapoint. With both racers going 120mph to the timers. You know it was a close one.

Hope you all enjoyed that. Our final video for tonight is the world famous track action video. We kept this one short. I think the track action video's have been getting a little too long and they are causing our bandwith rates to get more expensive. The idea again is to get the best highlights of the night. Well, here it is...enjoy.

It was about 9:00PM last night when my phone rang. It was Smiley, reminding me that we had a match race. Man, I didn't even remember. Told Smiley not to move and I was on my way. Man, and what a race it was. Smiley was going to run Sniper for the chance to go after El Chapulin for the #8 Spot. Smiley won that race with a sick 9.79 pass. Man, I just cannot understand how you take a tank like The Farm Truck into the 9's...LOL! And Smiley? Well, he ain't no small boy either. After Smiley dispatched the Sniper Stang, he went at it with El Chapulin. Not only did Smiley run a 9.79 once, but he did it twice! And in different lanes to boot. Awesome job Smiley.

Also racing last night was Jesse Torres and Tony "Bullit". This one was a last minute, unplanned race. Looks like Jesse bolted on a blow-thru supercharger on the 1-Bad-Habit Stang. And boy did this thing turn out wicked. The race between Jesse and Tony was pretty close. With Jesse taking the win. After the race, Jesse came back and made another test hit. Resulting in a 10.47 pass. Freaking wicked!!...Jesse, your car sounds awesome with that blower whine. Good job man. Well, that is it for now. Here are the pics. I will be back with video of all the action from last night. As well as video from the last few races. Stay tuned for more action.
