"SPRING BREAK PROJECT"

My son's and I had been discussing swapping gears out on project "Trigger". The car has 3.42 gears in the rearend. With me wanting to take long road trips in the car and with the TH200R4 swap not working out, we figured changing the gears to 3.08 highway gears would be the next best thing. But, with budgets being what they are we just couldn't spend the $300 for new gears and installation charges. So, a light came on in my youngest son's head. He said, hey Dad, my Camaro has 3.08 gears in it. I have a 700R4 already. Why not swap out rearends? I will give you my Camaro rearend with 3.08's and you give me your rearend with 3.42 gears. And we save $300 to do something else to the car. Hmmm...what a great idea. And it just so happens all the kids are out for Spring Break with nothing to do. Excellent!!!!.....

Prep - Getting ready for the swap.

OOPS! Stud on the Camaro spun on the axle. Thank God for air-chisel's...

The air-chisel made easy work of that stud...

This is what I saw when I came home from work today...

Camaro rearend being bolted into the Trans Am...

Got to hurry up. The Trans Am already has an appointment with "Gator's" body shop. He is going to Murder it out for us. And my buddy Abel is getting us the Hotrod Black paint from O'Reilly Auto Parts. Car should look like this by the weekend....

"GIMPY RACING'S CODE BLUE MALIBU"

My friend Johnny has been sharing the progress on his 1979 Malibu named Code Blue on his Facebook page. I wanted to share it here with our TDR Fans. The car is pretty cool with a stout small block under the hood and an Oldsmobile 442 8.5 rearend at the back. The car was looking a little rough for wear so Johnny sent it in for a fresh coat of paint. He liked the blue Malibu was used on our Texasdracing.com T-Shirts so much that he went with a color very close to it. The car is looking great Johnny. Keep the updates coming.....

While waiting for his Malibu to come out of the paint shop Johnny found another Malibu to keep him company. This one was found on a local Craigslist ad. The car was a California, car is as clean as a 1978 Malibu can come. Johnny had been talking about maybe adding an LSx engine or something bigger. I told him to please, leave the car as is. Just maybe add nice wheels and it is done. Awesome rides Johnny. Keep the updates coming.

I know, it's short notice, but I just received word on this from a board fan. Looks like the San Antonio Autorama is back bigger and better than ever. If you aren't doing anything this weekend, make the short trip to San Antonio and check out the show. I also hear some local cars will be making the trip and will be entered in the show. For more information on this show, click on the picture below. It will take you straight to the Autorama website.

Just a thought. I'm pretty sure Freddy reads the board. How about an update on the track remodel? Just so the racers know what's going on and they can stop the "rumors". This being the most popular racing site in the valley, I would think he would like the fans to know what's going on.

Here are a few pics from tonight's Texas Tops Cruise In. It almost looked like it wasn't going to happen with the crappy weather today. But things finally cleared up just enough to allow us gear heads to head out for a little while and enjoy some time with friends. .

GOOD NEWS!!!...Time to Kick The Tires & Light The Fires!!!!....Our insiders at the city have reported that a contract has been signed with Freddy Cruz for the Edinburg Racetrack!!!....Finally the speculation can stop and we can move forward. From what we hear, Freddy has already contacted Julio and they are going to work out a deal for the racetrack equipment. Freddy buying the current equipment is the cheapest and best option. It is also the fastest option since Freddy will be able to concentrate on making improvements rather than just getting the track operational again. Start putting those monsters together, clean them up and get ready for battle. And remember, you read about it here first. On the Fastest Website In South Texas.....TEXASDRAGRACING.COM!!!....
