While I don't disagree that the alternative therapies have helped you, I don't think it's safe to generalize and say that they aren't helpful in many cases. Are people misdiagnosed with depression? Sure. Are people correctly diagnosed with depression and prescribed the wrong drug for it? Sure. But there are many people, and I have known a few, who have gone through absolute hell both medicated and unmedicated, who live active lives and get plenty of exercise, yet didn't snap out of their depression until the correct drug was prescribed that treated the specific cause of their depression. Medication is an inexact science and involves lots of trial and error sometimes.
