- Wow the States are over *tear* I think that it was a fantastic weekend- one of the best states ever. The venue was great (despite half of us having to travel across the country side to get there), the organisation, judges, atmosphere and the musician. - I really must say it is a very worrying trend in Irish dancing in SA at the moment, there have been a huge drop in numbers competeting and subsequently now less feis!! Did the Howe School not chose to compete at one or two feis this year and now has ceased running it's feis?? I really must say where is Irish Dancing headed in SA, it's not just one particular School though - what is happening??   - Re: Some schools may attend every Feis but all their pupils do not enter.. Teachers are entitled to decide whether tto run a Feis or not. Other schools who do not run a feis are quite entitled to run one in Sept if they so desire. I hope Mrs Howe who has a lot of sadness to deal with at the moment does not take these comments to heart. - Wow, a lot of feeling here. While I don't want to accuse any school of anything I am interested in the "philosophical" question of why we dance. I think dance is a PERFORMING art, and for both the dancers and the audience the thrill is in the performance - even if it is just a hobby.   - What is there to be happy about?? The small numbers in every section, the lack of competition/competitions, seeing kids spend 1000's on a dress they rarely get to wear, spending hundreds on tuition doing them same beginner work now without the chance to be graded out... I'd be glad to run more feis, I'm not adverse to work - if I ever decide to sit my TC I'll happy run 4 feis in a year - though I'm sure that'd be seen as doing wrong also! - I'm thinking it's not against the Howe school in particular but against the severe lack of feis in SA overall - although it has been the catalyst for this particular thread. I'm sure most people don't know of Mrs Howe's circumstance's - I'd be prompt to wish her/her family the best!! I put forward that there be a 'feis commitee' within AIDA so that there could be more feis run with the work-load and cost spread out amongst the various schools!! - In Sydney the Fishers Ghost Competition is run by an Irish Association. You actually don't need a TCRG to run a feis. Why don't you contact the organsiers of that feis for advice. (NT) -- FG, 18:05:08 08/27/06 Sun

- If u have used a spray tan keep applying as the darker u get the less the streaks are noticeable. Make sure that each layer dries 4 applying the next. Some tan creams do the same so the same to be used. To be honest I have found that spending a bit more on spray tans is worth it as I use one layer and never have a problem with streaking. hi everyone, every competiton after i dance, my throat is always dry and i practically run to my bag to get a drink and i thought.....would it be possible to have like a water dispenser behind the stage as u walk off??? i think it would also help alot of dancers.

- I'm sure they did their best, they didn't purposely make ONLY YOU drive all the way to Elizabeth for 2 days. There are other people who have to be there from first thing in the morning to last thing at night BOTH days. It's for one weekend in the year, no one wants to drive all the way, but we're all in the same boat. - Yea usually I just eat breakfast, then I get ready and leave for the comp. By the time we get there, lunch break has finished and I have to dance, so I don't really get to eat the whole day until I've finished. (NT) -- That's bad, but the day is so busy, 04:50:08 07/17/06 Mon

What are the dates of the State Championships? I am hoping not on the 19th/20th August because the Sunday is when all of the Universities have their Open Days. - I think you mean that our feis' are getting smaller...going by the last comp. I know that 2 schools didn't compete though. Let's hope that they only get better and bigger from now on because the more competitiors there are the better it is! More interstate competitors will certainly challenge us!
