Subject: Worst Birthday Ever

Ya know I never believed all the people that warned me over and over again that "everything changes as soon as you get married." I thought no way, that won't be us, we're different. I was wrong. I should have listened!
Why is that husbands think that once you are married they don't have to try anymore for holidays or birthdays? Granted I was in labor during Valentine's Day, so it was a little difficult to celebrate, but even being in labor I still managed to give my DH something special to symbolize my love for him. What did I get in return? NOTHING.
Two weeks later, my birthday rolls around (yesterday). Do you think he made an extra effort to make it special since he seriously ignored Valentine's Day? Of course not! He stopped at the grocery store on the way home from work to pick up a birthday card and a piece of cake. And had 2 balloons and 2 flowers delivered to the house...the house is FULL of balloons and flowers, we just had a baby!
I am just so in shock that he could be so insensitive and uncaring, especially after all I went through to make his birthday so special and to spoil him even though I was 7.5 months pregnant! I already felt gipped on last years birthday when the only thing I got was an engagement ring that he still hasn't paid off.
Is everyone's husband like that? What was your worst birthday or holiday ever?

I hate birthdays to begin with. My mother always ignored our birthdays when we were kids because it cut into her smoking and card playing time, and now that we are grown she always wants to pull this stupid " take me out to lunch to celebrate " crap! She ignores e 364 days out of the year and wants to celebrate my birthday? no way! and since I've had cancer, everybody says I should celebrate my birthday because I am living! what a crock! I hate parties and surprise junk also. (NT)Anonymous16:11:23 02/27/07 Tue

if I had your husbands ladies, I would wash their undies in itching powder or something. My husband is awesome. He always gets me gifts on my birthday and christmas. We also have an understanding that instead of valentines I would rather he get me flowers all year round instead of getting me some on a day everyone gets them. But he is awesome, and not only do I get flowers and candy and gifts year round but he also does something for v day too. Oh, and he always takes me out to dinner. Married 12 years and still love him. Guess he knows I do the laundry and I can always use itching powder...lol Thanks for letting me brag ladies.. love you!!!~ Mrs. Piano Man~ (NT)Anonymous20:19:27 02/27/07 Tue

my hubby tries but it doesn't always works out that great. He was deployed for my last 3 birthdays. My last one he at least ordered flowers to be delivered. Other than that, christmas and valentines and anniversaries, I always end up outdoing what ever he gets, even without trying. it hink it's a guy thing (NT)Anonymous20:51:26 02/27/07 Tue

my husband don't get me nothing for my birthday or any holiday,..except for Christmas and then I have to tell him exactually what to get..he has no idea for gifts..you'd think after 9 years of marriage, he'd have a clue. The only thing he does on my birthday and mother day is argue with me ..because it's not about him and he has to be the center of attention. This one mother's day he actually put his head through the wall..it was dry wall but still left a BIG goose egg on his forehead and he thought he broke his nose. Then he wanted me to baby him..I ingored him..serve him right. He don't do that no more.. So they are just another day in this house. I guess that means I ain't getting no older...LOL. Re: Maybe he did not have any money for anything else. after all if you just had a baby you probably were off work and still am and I am sure he was off work as well as most husbands are. I would be thankful for Flowers and a piece of cake. At least he remembered. I know others whose husbands totally forget. (NT)Anonymous23:49:24 02/27/07 Tue

I've got what is usually a wonderful husband, last week he brought me flowers for no reason, usually he remembers important dates but last year both him AND my kids forgot my birthday (only 6 days after ds's) and then 2 weeks later forgot MOTHER'S DAY!!! Now I didn't want anything major but hearing "happy birthday" or a card for mother's day isn't too much but they forgot all of it. The Mother's Day one hurt the most I think. THEN dh had the nerve to tell me "for Father's day I want..."~tiggerrrt (NT)Anonymous09:49:37 02/28/07 Wed
