Subject: the new 2014 Mrs NC United States was crowned at the Miss NC US pageant without the 2013 Mrs ever being told or invited since the new queen was chosen at large (director resigned). If you were the 2013 queen, what would you do?

Without a director she had no farewell but the new queen is not a runner up so neither knew the other whrn this happened. Should formers reach out to the new ones or do you think its the other way around...the new queens at large should extend the invitation to connect?

my thought is you never know who the next director might be. Did the live pageant crowning her have an obligation to invite the reigning to give up her title and have her farewell? I think that may have been the right thing to do rather thsn find out from a friend your year is now over. Thoughts?

As a former who didn't get a formal farewell, it's hard, but sometimes that's just how it goes. I recorded my farewell speech and put it on my website, blog, FB and that's all I could do.Me01/26/14 Sun
This situation happens all the time, there is a lot of turnover in state directors, and US has alot of at-large queens. If I were the 2013 queen I wouldn't take it personally, and it would be nice to reach out to the new titleholder offering to answer questions or help in any way. (NT)Take the high road.01/26/14 Sun
As an NC girl, I had wondered... Glad to see this post even though I hate the circumstances. I believe they should have extended you the invitation to have at least crowned the new at-large Mrs. NC US. Good for you for still recording your farewell and posting on your sites. That's gracious, and more than most would have done. I do agree, however, take the high road! (NT)Past NC Queen03/25/14 Tue
I know this isn't fair, but you have to realize that it's hard for a new director to think of everything, even though it seems like a no brainer. Maybe she felt you weren't 'hers'. That's ashame. Did you know there would be an announcement? If so, you should have contacted her. If not, you're going to have to chalk it off and get over it. She goofed or she really wasn't worried about you. Perhaps she was afraid you'd ask for perks - hotel, travel. Who knows, but it does suck. Many of us have been screwed out of our farewells, trust me.sorry03/26/14 Wed
Who was crowned? Nothing on U.S. site yet (NT)Wondering!03/26/14 Wed
