While the forum was inactive for six months, there were two new posts, one from Shanty in May, advising that Florence was married to Alan Jones, her second husband, now-deceased, and that she sang on the Status Cymbal LP with her brother Byron and Tom Porter, under the name of Warner, Porter and Warner, and one from James Renaldo in August advising that Florence is widowed, has a daughter Britney, and lives in Bucks Co., PA.

Please see their posts below.

Thanks to Shanty and James for the posts. We appreciate your contributions.

Here's Wikipedia's Florence Warner entry:

Florence Warner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Florence Warner is an American singer who sung the popular Hello News image campaign from Gari Communications. In 1980, Florence sang a duet with Demis called "Lost in Love" (which appears on Demis' 1980 album, "Man of the World"). In 1984, Florence sang on the ABC network campaign, "We're With You on ABC" (the campaign where they used character actors playing the roles of people watching ABC shows throughout the day). In 1993, she sang on the "Once Upon a Forest" soundtrack, on the song "Once Upon a Time With Me."

There's a quite interesting discussion on the Dan Fogelberg Network 54 EVER ON FORUM. The liveliest part of the discussion is in this thread:
click
but it starts at the bottom end of this previous thread:
click.
It involves a discussion of the exploitative nature of Florence's album cover garb from 1981 and 1982.

By chance, I happened upon this forum. My mother's vinyl LP's were a curiosity to me, mostly, but she had two album covers which intrigued me. One was a Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass LP named "Whipped Cream and other delights." On a forest green background was a very attractive brunette, seated, pictured from probably what would be from the hips up, seemingly covered only in whipped cream. Her left shoulder and an ample area below her left shoulder was not covered with cream.

The music seemed a little dippy to my friends and me, but everyone liked the picture.

The other album was Florence Warner. An innocent-looking girl, appearing to be in her late teens, sat in a bricked window frame suspended over a meadow. I don't know whether that was a picture of Florence, but it looked like the girl that every mother would want her son to be with - if the the son had to be with a female. The look of wholesome innocence was magnetic. When I'm at home, I look at the album cover often.

When I finally got around to doing a net search on "The Lady Loves the River", my favorite song on the record, I was directed to The Living Legacy, a Dan Fogelberg site (Fogelberg was the songwriter) where this message was posted:

The first Fogelberg song I actually remember hearing was in high school when someone brought in "The Lady Loves the River" by a singer named Florence Warner. In college, my girlfriend introduced me to "Souvenirs" and I have been a die-hard fan ever since. You have become such a part of my family. My children have grown up listening to your music. You are a part of every family vacation - every year for the last 20, your music has accompanied us to Colorado and North Carolina.
Now with your Christmas album, it's part of our holidays. Talk about a legacy! When my son, Adam, left for college this year, he left behind "Nether Lands" and we had to overnight it to him when he called upset about leaving it.I guess what I wanted to say was "thank you" for dedicating your life to making such beautiful music. Your music will last through the ages and will be part of my family forever. ~Guy Peshek

Mama was a big Fogelberg fan, but she didn't know he wrote that song. After researching, I found out that Florence Warner recorded several Fogelberg songs and that they sang or played together on several albums. She's four years older than Fogelberg, and Fogelberg sings about a lady who seems to be older than he, with whom he had more than a passing interest. Is it Florence Warner?

Florence's band members are credited on her 80's LP's, but not on her 1974 "FLORENCE WARNER". We know that Dan acknowledged playing on the 1974 album (box set booklet), but even without that, it is undeniably clear that Dan does the same guitar work on "Song from Half Mountain" that he does on his own recording of the song on the Souvenirs album. It also sounds like Dan on "Lady Loves the River", but that one is not as undeniably clear.

My question is about Florence's 1975 single "Anyway I Love You." To me, it sounds like Fools Gold is playing. Does anyone else hear that? Anyway to find out without asking Florence?

Last night, I was listening again to Florence singing covers of Dan Fogelberg's "Song from Half Mountain", "Love Gone By", "Anyway I Love You", "Drawing Pictures" and the ethereal and haunting "Lady Loves the River", which Dan wrote but never recorded. When I checked my email this morning, I had been notified by a friend in Illinois that the posting of the "Fogelberg Parkway" street sign was on YouTube. When I watched it, I recognized Diney Boo on the right at the end of the video. I think that's Tamara on the left, in the patterned dress, but who's that in the middle? I think that's the same person in a picture they took of us at Vevay, but that was seven years ago, and I'm not sure. Anybody know if her name's Barb?

I love Florence Warner. I fell in love in 1974 when first I laid eyes upon her lovely, innocent-appearing countenance on her 1974 album. Thirty-one years later, I still love Florence.

Why can't anyone find her?

If I remember right, Florence Warner was the one who sang the "Hello, Nashville" commercial in the mid-80's. Is this the same person? I don't remember her looking like that little girl in the brick window frame.

Reading the booklet accompanying Dan Fogelberg's Portrait box set, I read that Dan appeared on Florence's 1974 LP. Does anyone know which songs he did? I know he wrote two of them, but which ones did he either play on or sing on on the 1974 record?

Subject: Album cover art

After seeing Florence's initial album, which for awhile appeared to be the only one she would ever issue, and after reading about her life, I had the idea that Florence had led a bit of a sheltered life and was one of the Innocents. When I saw her second album cover six or seven years later, it was a bit of a surprise to see this sweet innocent child in a teddy sleeper, but I thought, what the heck, she's coming out. The following year, she released another album, but I didn't have it until some years later. The cover shows her in white ballerina costume, without slippers, very tastefully done, poised in an upright position, knee on a chair, other leg obliqued with foot resting on the floor. The back was a bit of a surprise, with her lower back/bottom on the chair and legs together straight up, her head thrown back in a frolicking posture, mouth open in what appears to be a laugh. That's a bit strange, I thought, and unlike that first innocent pose from the mid-seventies, but I didn't give it much more thought.

Someone posted on the Ever On forum that either Florence was being exploited or was exploiting herself, not sure which, by these poses, on the two eighties albums, with at least a hint that the exploitation was done for the purpose of selling records. I am not a member of Ever On, so I can't post a response, but good lord I never had that idea about the woman. The rest of you who have seen the album art, did you get that idea too?

Just wondering.

MODERATED FORUM

It was not my wish to have a moderated forum, i.e., a forum which requires my administrator to personally check each message before it can be posted; however, since the first two messages contained vulgarity which I would not want my mother to read on my forum, it appears to be necessary to regulate or moderate the messages, at least for the time being. The alternative is to have my administrator or a volunteer to check the messages every few minutes and notify one of us of the impropriety of a message. Then we must access the Owner Login and manually remove the inappropriate message.

That's simply too much trouble.

It is notable that within moments of creating this forum, an Internet Terrorist struck. The first time I accessed the forum, just to see how it appeared, some lowlife had already posted "Who the **** is Florence Warner, and does she g*** g*** h***?" So my first activity was to remove something posted by a cybertrashmouth.

Since I have a large number of webpages to administer, monitor and manage, I do not have time to play wet nurse to whiney babies or cyberterrorists. I would like to see this forum succeed, but I do not check every webpage hourly, daily, weekly, or, in some cases, even monthly, so I will make this suggestion. Rather than have to wait to see whether your message will be posted, you may email it to me; I will copy and paste to the forum. I believe that would be quicker.

About 150 of you on my personal mailing list, plus a few others who might be interested in Florence Warner, will be notified by email of this forum and of options of how to post. If you are not on my mailing list but wish to post here without waiting for your message to be screened, please contact me by clicking on a Contact Forum Admin link just above or just below this screen, advise me of your online name and email address, plus your interest in this forum. Please insure that your ISP number is a stable one and not one anonymized by design. If you seem safe, I will give you an e~mail address where you can send your message to me. I check email at least once every four hours, even at night, so your message will not be delayed.

Please tell me whether you wish your e~mail address displayed to others or whether it should be kept confidential.

It is unfortunate that these extra steps are necessary, but I simply wish to take whatever steps needed to keep this forum family-safe.

Thanks for using the Florence Warner forum. Thanks for helping make it a viable forum.

The first message used vulgarity and was from someone using the name "The Beav" and using an anonymizer to disguise her ISP number. She used this identifier:

A hefty cash award goes to the first person who can identify this person.
