I must apologize for my long absence. Not only was I gone for four days (I was driving thru Northern Virginia as Keith was checking in to his temporary "home-away-from-home"), but life since I've been back has been ridiculous! Between school carnivals, daily outings for church functions and lunch dates, and a growing mountain of Laundry staring me down, it's been rather crazy. And it ain't over yet! Halloween is cackling like a witch at my lack of preparation, and we're looking to be out of town again Sun-Tues, then next Sat/Sun. After that... I'm hoping things will slow down from Talladega speeds to Martinsville speeds, but with the holidays fast approaching, who knows.

Anyway... Thanks so much, everyone, for all the birthday wishes! I am happy and healthy and glad to be alive in America, even if it is the 11th anniversary of my 29th birthday. ;-)

Also, thanks to all of you who post, regardless of how often. We may not be the busiest board, but I like the atmosphere you have created with your honest comments and your heartfelt support for Keith. And of course your wild and crazy corner cavortings!

And a big thanks to Mo, Second Quill Extraordinare, for keeping things going in my absence.

Let's keep Keith in our prayers and continue to encourage each other thru this difficult time. (Altho I do suspect that once the tabs run out of ways to call him an unrepentent druggie, things'll die down.) Especially during the CMA's next week (NEXT WEEK, already!). His performance and presence will be sorely missed, especially if his wins something.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled drooling....

Thought maybe the birthday celebrations had done you in. I think everyone has been extra busy lately - including the not so beloved press! Like you said, in time it will all blow over and hopefully we'll be celebrating some new awards for the Main Monkey next week. I wonder how they'll handle it and who would accept them for him?

... This won't be the first time (or second or third time...), that a country star was "unavailable" to receive an award! LOL (and it won't be the last)

Either the presenter, or the hosts (Brooks & Dunn), or someone designated for the purpose (Nicole, Mum, Kenny...) will accept the award on Keith's behalf. "Keith is unable to be here tonight, but he sends his deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all who voted and support him..."

Remember also that all the voting was finished in July or August, so none of the last few weeks' headlines will have affected the votes. So if Keith wins something (or even Sara Evans), it's not because of any voter opinions or feelings about recent events. CMA eligibility period is July 1 - June 30 each year. ACM's is "calendar year" (Jan - Dec).
