Can I be honest and tell you that the most depressing thing about this whole ordeal is the realization that I'm not Keith's type! Long blonde hair(no), long legs(nope), tall(nosiree), small- boobed(DD baby!)...Too bad Amanda's not some average looking chick with similar features to mine. Throw a girl a bone, Keith, why dontcha!
He probably did cheat and that's what I love about Keith! The untamed stallion, the gigolo, the playboy, the gypsy, the baaaaaaad boy, the one your mama warned you about...Yeah, now that's sexy to me!
I don't think this marriage will last but what do I know. I'm worried that Keith may have some serious drug problems rather than "a little too much to drink one night preventative intervention no big deal sort of thing" but again what do I know...Actually, I do know that I support Keith now and/or until someone cuter comes along...lol
Have a great new year, ya'll!

I think you're right, bird -- Ginny, 10:37:10 01/09/07 Tue [1]
I'm really pretty well convinced that Keith was back into drugs and not just alcohol and that the problem was serious. He is undergoing major therapy and that has to be for more than preventative intervention. And it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he cheated, maybe more than we know. BUT - whether he says married or not, I just hope he gets cleaned up so that his long-term health doesn't suffer and so that he can come back to us and make the music and perform the kind of shows that we all love. I miss him terribly and wish him a happy and healthy fresh start in this New Year.

I dont know.... -- ShanBan, 22:17:41 01/09/07 Tue [1]
I find it kind of hard to believe that he could have been usuing drugs this whole time and the public not knowing about it. Whether you do them excessivly or once in awhile on your own time, there are physical results to taking them. They drugs that the girl mentioned were pretty serious and I dont think if he was heavily taking them he would be able to do all the things he did and I think people would notice at shows and in interviews. I also thing that if he was back on Cocain that we would really noctice because he would be stick thin. I remember how skinny he was when he was first on it, it use would definatly not go unnoticed. I really dont know what to believe. The whole rehab thing was kinda thrown out of nowhere. I hate to say it but I honestly think that NK had alot to do with sending him and keping him there. He just seemed fine before, and was on a roll before they were married. Not that I'm blaming her...just the fact that he said he didnt even drink when he was in Europe last year...now hes in for alcoholism...makes ya wonder...

I just can't put my finger on it but... -- bird, 20:00:39 01/10/07 Wed [1]
I know marriage changes you, changes everything or at least most things, lots of things but Holy Cow! it's almost like Keith's life went from "Everything's just groovy"(or appearingly so) to "Oh Sh$t!"...I get up everyday and wonder what's gonna happen to/with Keith next. I bet Keith's wonderin' when he's gonna wake up from this nightmare and, frankly, so am I...

I think my biggest fear is -- Texas_Cheryl, 17:25:40 01/09/07 Tue [1]
that he was using drugs all along. Of course I want him clean and sober so he lives and entertains us a long time. I want to see him performing wrinkled and gray when he's 90! But what if he's one of the ones that can't perform without abusing substances? He wouldn't be the first to have to be drunk and/or high to step out on a stage and/or live the life that goes along with what he does. I think he'll survive the Amanda thing just fine. I just hope he's still the amazing performer we all love when he gets back to touring.

I big hope is this . . . -- Mo, 02:05:37 01/12/07 Fri [1]
Not that I can know, exactly, but in all the times I've seen Keith perform (on tv, like we all have, and in person twice), I've never had that creeping feeling there's more going on here than just a truly dynamic performer giving it his best shot - with one exception.
There's a tape over at YouTube of him playing in Atlanta. It's not "Stupid Boy." It's one of his older songs, I think. (Sorry, can't check at the moment) It's obviously late in the show, and Keith is positively wringing with sweat, but with a smile on his face that wants to be a laugh. There's something about that tape I can't quite explain, but it bothers me. He's smiling, he's happy, he's singing, he's sweating. But it's astonishing how untimely his movements are, given that it's Keith. I don't mean he's flopping around or reeling like a drunk or anything. I just mean it's "off." (To me, anyway.)
It's a subtle kind of thing that I'm not even sure is there, really, but it's like watching a baseball game when you've seen that shortstop turn the double play a million times. After a while, you just *know* if he's going to make it or if that one hitched step or other infinitesimal hesitation is enough to stall the play and leave the opposing runner safe.
Do I think Keith has been on drugs all along? No, I don't. Do I think he's been drinking the whole time? I have no idea, but I have never seen anything terribly "altered" about any of his interviews or performances - even right up to his announcement about going into rehab - except for the tape from Atlanta and a couple of clips of him in the studio working on the album.
I, too, want him back clean and sober - and happy! And I want to believe he's been that way for most, if not all, of the time I've "known" him. Whatever may have happened to him, whatever it is he may have done, I think it must've been recent and no matter what we may be hearing from the $10,000 winner of the Publicity Freaks Clearing House Award, until we hear it from Keith, I'll hang in with that.

My Uneducated, and Most Likely Unreasonable, Thought -- girard, 20:25:25 01/13/07 Sat [1]
I don't know if this is the very adolescent me coming through, but I've been thinking...there are those men out there who, even though they want soooo badly to be in a committed relationship and in marital bliss, can't handle the ropes of mariage that hold them down. I seriously hope Keith is not one of those men who buckled under the pressure and relieved his stress those ways. I've always thought of him as that rebel without a cause, doing whatever pleases him, having a little "fun" and then driving away with no regrets. Maybe it's just me dreaming that he hates the confines of his mariage and that I could be the one to give him a little "fun"...a girl can dream right?! lol

Hey Y'all! Remember me? LOL I'm finally back from The Land of the Dead Motherboards and I think Purgatory would be better. Sheesh! But that's another story. I'll sound off about this whole mess inside..... -- Feathers, 16:55:49 01/16/07 Tue [1]
I really have no clue about what might have sent him to rehab, but there are several theories that work for me. One is "there was too much going on - new album + promo, marraige + honeymoon wearing off (hey, it does) - and he chose the wrong destresser". That sounds plausible and makes sense.
Another is "it's always been there, under the surface, and it was just time to deal with it." Rotten time, but it still makes sense.
Still another that I've been chewing on for a while with Mo is "the Ex is using the kids as leverage to make Nic's life H-E-Double-Hockey-sticks, and if she ever wants to see them or have them at her home in N'ville, she better get her new spouse to straighten up and fly right." Funny how Keith's "check-in time" at Betty Ford was not to long before the Couch-Jumper's own wedding announcement, and has extended beyond the TomKat Family World Tour.
It's been THREE WHOLE MONTHS, fer-cryin'-out-loud!! I wonder if Keith play's "Hotel California" in his room at night.... "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...."
As for the newest Winner of the Publicity Freaks Clearing House Sweepstakes (ROTFLOL, Mo!), I think her 15 minutes went down in flames when her rap sheet became public. Of course, the tabs are having a field day - Nic is being attacked by her ex because her new spouse "is a drunk", and whenever she's in N'ville she now has to worry about Slamanda openin' a can of "Whoop-A$$" on her outside Starbucks in West End (at least, according to the thoughtful tabloids who are issuing this warning, for Nicole's own good, you see).
As for "did he/ didn't he".... I don't have any illusions that Keith "went without" before he started seeing Nicole, or even in the early stages of that relationship, but certainly not after they got serious. Plus, they were both so busy during that year of their lives (June '05 - June'06), it would have been hard for Keith to find time to see his own face in the mirror, much less see another woman.
As a "commoner", I find it encouraging that Keith might "hook up" with someone even worse-off than me (have you seen that woman's nose??? LOL), my hope is that he's the faithful type who will honor his marriage committment the way he seems to honor other types of committments. Sure, it's gotta be tough to be married after being single so long, and no matter who it is, there are always "unmet expectations" in the first few months. But Keith seems to be a serious-minded guy who really wants to make it work out. This time period is just one of those "Valleys of the Shadow of Death" that we all pass thru at various times in our lives. In 5 or 10 years, this will be but a blip on the screen that we won't even be able to focus on anymore because the glare off all those Grammy's and CMA's and ACM's will be too bright.
Who me? Overly optimistic? So sue me! LOL
