I would, Dennis, gladly tell them if I could catch them! My mini van doesn't catch up to him in time, since I can't burn rubber 5 times before I screech out down to the high school game going on. No one in my neighborhood is doing it. I was commenting on passing cars, not on people I personally knew.

Let me tell you what I did with MY kids. First, they love this country, even though they might not know it. When the school let them out early, first thing I did was pick them up and tell them that I loved them. Before going into the house to explain what had happened, in parent to child terms, I had each of them touch the American Flag that hangs outside of my home. I told them that the flag was very precious, and was something that must always treasure. It meant freedom and love. That was in terms they could understand, one being 9 and the other two 6.

I then showed them what had happened, explained in Parent-to-child terms about a few bad people. I answered any questions as best that I could, and then had them sing God Bless America with me. Sounds corny, maybe. But, this is how I dealt with MY children and respect for their country.

The night of the candle lighting, I had them participate. We each brought out the candles and as we went out, we stopped in front of our flag, lighting one next to it. We said the Pledge of Allegiance. We said a prayer for all that had died, and for all the hero firefighters, police officers and rescue workers still there, trying to rescue those that were trapped in the rubble.

But, also remember that you are asking some to tell our children to do something, they themselves did not believe or think about. I can say this, because I never voted for him, but we did have a draft dodger elected as our president, not once but TWICE, am I not correct?

Hard to expect them to explain is important, when many voted for someone that did something unpatriotic and got elected President.

Proud to be an American!
Kelly
