Subject: Possibilities for revenue in Dracut

It might be a good idea to open a discussion and come up with ideas of what might be some good options for revenue in Dracut. We must be able to think of something less destructive than a power plant, that would still really benefit our town financially.

What does anyone think of the possibility of an Arts Center? I know that it's probably far-fetched, but I was just thinking about it last night, and thought of some good reasons to bring it up. It could provide a cultural outlet, where people could take classes, a place for a small museum, a place for concerts and shows, maybe some theatre...who knows? I was thinking of contacting the National Endowment for the Arts, just to get their opinion on what it would take to propose something like this, as well as look into the possibility of funding.

There are already some good centers in Lowell (The Merrimack Rep, The Tsongas Arena, etc.), but we could bring even more to our own community by providing something like this. Does anyone agree, or am I way off base?

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has other ideas, as well.

Thanks!
