Welcome Amy! I think Mac's lack of fear when she speaks to V'lane is because she knows she can freeze him momentarily, and after she gets the spear she can really scare him. I think it's kind of funny that a big, bad, fae prince is scared of a girl. As far as the Shades not being scared of JB, there has been so much speculation that I think I"m going to wait until the next book to build on any of those theories. -- DARKFEVER

I think the fact that the shades are afraid of Jerico is not that they are afraid but that they don't see him because he is wearing an armband. Remember V'lane offered Mac a similar band to help disguise or hide her from these creatures?
