- what was that 'thing' that was niggling in the back of Mac's brain during the first meeting of JB, Mac & Malluce? Mac says 'nothing was the way it appeared that night', but there was a thing that she couldn't put her finger on that should have been obvious. Any ideas, anyone? I keep thinking that it might have something to do with an invitation. But I am pretty stumped. --

Welcome Dookie,
THIS BOARD IS GREAT! They are very opened to all theories without teasing U for it. Believe me if U read back on my Sherlock Holmes theories U will have proof that some of the theories posted get pretty out there, LOL. No one has teased me yet. They are a great bunch of Lasses!
I agree with your theory about Gabby and probably all the Seers having to unite for this battle of the worlds that seems to brewing in the series. I even think Adam's fae powers are GOING TO BE GIVEN BACK FOR THIS FIGHT. I really think that it will be in this battle we see the RETURN OF CIAN MACKELTAR. Remember after he destroyed the mirror, winning his battle against the dark one, the queen appeared at the top of the stairs & revealed herself to him alone (not to Drustan & Dageus)? She was giving the indication to Cian to let them be happy & untroubled for now because the time was coming when she would have to call on Cian and all his clan to preserve the Compact and their races from those who want the dark ways.

Welcome Dookie! You will love it here! Like Cheryle said, come over to the main board and play with us there as well. I think at the end of Spell the Queen, after being caught on the balcony by Cian, made a reference to having everyone in place for what wold come in five years. I feel this includes all the main characters. Adam and family and all the Keltar families! Remember there is still the connection to Triton Corp and Gwen and many other links. I think there must be a link to Gabby and Mac. (Maybe they are related). No theory is too far out there! Keep'em comin!!!

The O'Callaghans had a bunch of Books of the Fae. And probably every Sidhe-seer family had a like collection of lore. Certainly the O'Conners have got such a set of books! And we know that some of the O'Callaghans books were written in an ancient language that only Adam Black could read. So what if the location, and some secrets of the Sinsar Dubh are in a book like that, and that is something Alina learned before she was killed?
"You shouldn't make our secrets so easy to find..." Adam told Gabby.

Ok I was thinking about the cursed mirrors or silvers in Darroc's house. I think that he has them so that he can get into the unseelie world. The glossary says that they were used as the main method of fae travel between the realms before they were cursed and that now no fae would dare enter them. Well Darroc is no longer a fae. The queen made him human! He can not sift, so I think that he uses the mirrors so that he can still get into the fae realm. He was an elder so it would make sense that he would know how to use them. He probably used them before they were cursed. Remeber he is old, at one point I think he refers to Adam as being old. And I think that we will see Adam again before this is over. And I can not wait to see Cian again he is mine. I totaly love him. Well that is enough raving for today. I am supposed to be doing reaserch for my college class. LOL

- Response to Debra who asked if there was more besides Darkfever to read!!! The answer is yes, you have to get these books ... -- claudia_celestial_girl, 11:35:07 05/21/07 Mon [3]
There are a couple of ways you can do this - one is in order of how they relate to Dark Fever, the other is in order of how they relate to each other. I have just reading these myself, so I am biased. Here's how I would recommend it:
1) Immortal Highlander. This book contains a character who looks suspicously like the Lord Master. He even predicts that he is going to unleash the Unseelie Prison and overthrow the Queen
2) Spell of the Highlander. This book is about a character who owns one of the other Unseelie Hallows, and how he looses it. This character is from London, and probably owns the shop that was raided as described by Jerricho Barrons on the terrible night shortly after its owner disappeared. I suspect that JB might have been the one to raid the shop, and we'll learn later, I'm sure.
3a & b) In order to understand Druids, AKA the MacKeltar and their relationship to the Hallows, you have to read Kiss of the Highlander and Dark Highlander - in that order. You cannot read one before the other. These two Druids, we speculate, may be important in books to come because of the warning I mention below, that is contained in Spell of the HIghlander. And these two books will help you understand a bit more about JB. Deja?? commented that JB might be related to a person who is an antagonist in Dark Highlander. Since we are all curious about JB's origin (and I personally feel there is another 'shoe' to drop about him) these hints are tantalizing about his motives and real character. ;-)
4) Finally, in order to understand Adam Black's role in all of this, you really have to read The Highlander's Touch. This book explains about some of the Hallows, and we think that the cauldron might actually be the flask that is a key part of this book. Adam fought the first battle with the character who looks like the Lord Master, and that battle might foreshadow things to come in the fever series.
However! If you were to do the right thing, you'd have to read these in chronological order as follows (tho' the term 'chronological' is used with some irony, as some of these are time-travel books):
1) The Highlander's Touch
2) Kiss of the HIghlander
3) Dark Highlander
4) Immortal Highlander
5) Spell of the HIghlander
Spell of the Highlander closes with a few pages that are suspiciously like a segway into the Dark Fever Series. An ominous vision and forewarning ...
Good luck and Happy Reading!!! Sigh. I feel like I want to sit back and read these all over again.
What do the rest of you think?

Gabby's BooK of Sidhe-Seer Bloodline -- Beajae, 05:20:29 05/03/07 Thu [13]
Another idea about the Fever series.. Who has Gabby's book? Did Adam give it to Drustan or JB? We have Connors and O'Callaghans so far that we know of. Will we meet more in the next book. They need the four stones to read the Dark Book and JB has two of them. Will Darroc use the old ways(tuatha de)to read the book without the stones? Did JB come from one of the other fae realms? Mac didn't say he was fae but we all know that he has superhuman strength. Adam did give Morgana's clan special powers(Immortal Highlander) Is JB part of that line, from the 9th century?
Now we have to wait until October to find out.

- I believe that Gabby stills has all her books, and you're right Kelli Jo, Adam did indeed destroy all the pages listing the Sidhe-seer's names and family lines. Remember, Gabby is reading the book when Adam goes to make her immortal against her wishes, so I see no reason why she wouldn't still have it. I like the idea that JB could be distant offspring of Morgana's clan ^_^ (NT) -- Annaline, 07:07:37 05/04/07 Fri
- If I remember correctly there wasn't just one book. I think there were several books but only one listed all the family names. I think Kelli Jo is right and Adam destroyed that one. But don't you remember he was making corrections to the book that was totally devoted to him? So maybe she still has the other books and maybe there will be clues in them to the identity of other families that they aren't aware of yet.I can't remember if Gabby has read through all the books or not. Definitely Mack and Sister were sent away from Birth mother for protection, But has anyone wondered why the seers can hide who they are from the Fae as long as they(Seers) PRETEND not to see the fae?
I still want to know where the Seers got there powers from. Also why did dark fae hunters kill the seers while the queen only had them captured and taken to live out their lives safe from hunters/dark seelies in another realm?
Does the queen have another reason other than "FAIR PLAY or preserving the Compact".
Does the queen have something to do with the making of the sidhe Seers? Could some PAST FEELING the queen had for a mortal be one of reasons that the unseelie king is so hard on mortals?

Just when did JB become smitten with Mac? -- claudia (celestial girl!), 15:57:50 05/06/07 Sun [12]
Some of you may not agree that Jericho is smitten with Mac at all! However it is my theory that Jericho became smitten the moment Mac walked in his door the first time and told him to call her 'just Mac.' What do you think?
I think he was definitely smitten by the time he woke her up at 2 am and got a look at her through the doorframe.
But he was for sure smitten by the time he was helping her paint her fingernails after her broken arm. ;-) There is no way a man who is not smitten can be roped into doing that.

Her sister was probably a null also. And if they are the last of there kind maybe there parents knew that they needed to get them out of Ireland so that they would not be hunted. Where better to hide them than in America.
Maybe they were tipped of by the queen that the girls would be in danger if they stayed in Ireland, and she needed them to stay alive so that she could use them. But they messed up the plan by comming to Ireland too soon. Anyway just a thought. I may go crazy before October gets here.

JB tells Mac that there are some sidhe-seers who can sense OoP, others who can sense the dark portals, and still more who have other powers - that each sidhe-seer has a unique set of powers. But Mac not only can sense OoP, she is a Null, AND she can see the dark portals. Does that make her a super-powered Sidhe-seer? Is that why, at the end of the book, JB laughs about Mac being a strange thing to call something like her?

JB -- JOJO
, 08:26:23 05/12/07 Sat [3]
OK I think that I am going crazy but I have a theory. What if JB is half druid and half Fae. You know like his mother was a druid or the daughter of one. And his father was a fae. He would have been an outcast on both sides explaining his bad attitude. Remember none of the druids would train Lucan because of his heritage. And the Fae did not like Circen until they needed him to protect the hollows. Remeber even the queen was upset that Adam had taught him how to curse things. I just think that this explains JB's powers and his attitude. I belive that he wants the dark book for his own reasons. And when Fiona makes that comment about myths being real I think she is refering to JB being a half bred. because Adam tells us in the other books how rare it is.
OK I am done now. You all think I am insane now so it is time to go.

when she is down in the catacombs of underground Dublin, Mac turns into a chatterbox. why is that? Even when she is functionally disabled. Why did JB take her down there again after their battle in the Dark Zone, anyway? Why couldn't he just run her through the empty streets of the Dark Zone back to the bookstore? Is there, perhaps, an issue that the author wants to reinforce the idea that there is something about the sewer system that affects Mac in a strange, compulsive way? Hi this is the first time I have writen. My mom got me obsessed with all of the KMM novels. I have so many thoughts about whats going on with the fever book. First I seen on karen's web site that darroc will return. does anyone else think that could be the man Mac's sister was involved with, since she didn't know until to late that he was involved, and he was made mortal by adam's decree, she wouldn't have been able to know what he was and he did know how to bring forth the unseelie hunters. Just a thought. As for Jb in Cian's book did you take notice on page 255 Lucan was mad and saying that he had a meeting with a man who had knowledge of the dark book, and that he had lived among the fae? also lucan had the copied pages from the dark book could they be the same copies that Jb had shown mac. just throwing this out there. WE have read several cases of fae males mating with mortal females. WE even know ADAM LOVED AND SIRED BABIES WITH TWO females, then MARRIED ONE. So Circenn has a little 1/2 sister (she was able to see the queen, remember?) I got to thinking about this because being a seer is special in its self, but wouldn't you say having the power to FREEZE A FAIRY is A BIT MAGICAL?? Could it be that Seers came from the mixing of Fae and Human seed when they first visited mankind. Throughout the series its always mentioned that many male fae have always like "using" mortal females for sex even though rarely their offspring survived. ADAM just happened to have truly loved two of his. COULD THIS BE WHAT WE FIND OUT BY THE END OF BLOODFEVER OR IS MY SHERLOCK HOLMES HAT on TOO TIGHT?? what are your precise caculations me lasses?

Ok. I am going out on a limb here and making a prediction on V'lane.
I think that V'lane is really an Unseelie Price. I believe this becuase the only Fae that Mac has encountered to date, have been the Unseelie (the ugly ones)and all of a sudden a Fae Prince comes and offers her some gift to help her. But when he was offering it to her, he stated that the Cuff of Cruce was given to his human concubine. When JB was explaining the divisions of the Fae, he stated that the Seelie was ruled by the Queen and her sanctioned Consort and the Unseelie was ruled by the Unseelie King and his concubine. Not the keyword in V'lane's statement; HIS concubine.
Why elsse would V'lane have a gift formally used by the Unseelie king. Didnt Barrons also mention that Unseelie objects (especially the Sinsar Dubh) we evil and would change the person or seriously cause harm to the person?

This is my last post for today, I promise.
One of the girls mentioned the Audio Books for DarkFever and said that they were really good. I bought them last week and spent the entire week listening to them. It is a really good opportunity to listen and make mental (and physical) notes while the narrator is reading.
I really enjoyed the southern accent of the narrator. It fit perfectly with Mac, but I think that her voice was a little too old. The voice brought to mind a Mac in her 40's or 50's, re-telling her story, not early to Mid 20's.
Although she did really great on the voices in the story, I didnt like her representation of JB. In the book, it states that he was not Irish, and her narration of JB was too Irish.
Overall, I enjoyed the Audio Books, but I dont know if I would buy anymore on Audio. I guess you get and idea of the way people sound and how the scenes would play out in your head (voice level, attitude, emotions, etc,.) and hearing someone else narrate just isnt the same. In many of the emotional parts of the sotry, her voice did not change enough for me to really get into her reading.

Hey Lasses,
I know we all want JB to be one of the good guys BUT I think he is connected to OR A DECENDANT OF THE DRUIDS that wanted the DRAGHAR SECT to come back into power OR he has decided TO GO SOLO, & wants the HALLOWS for his power alone or has turned away from the sect. In the Dark H'Lander on pg. 121 TREVOR talks about GILES WHO JUMPED OFF DAGEUS' balconey. He said the DRAGHAR BELIEF IS that he would live again in ANOTHER BODY, IN ANOTHER TIME.. on pg. 219 Adam reminds the Queen about the order of DRUIDS IN BRITAIN AWAITING THE RETURN OF THE DRAGHAR...On pg. 122 Trevor talks about THE DRAGHAR coming back & HUNTING THE TUATHA DE. DID U'ALL NOTICE IN DARKFEVER THE QUEEN AND FAE SEEM TO BE IN HIDING EXCEPT FOR V'LANE'S OCCASIONAL MISSIONS. DOES THIS MEAN THE DRAGHAR ARE ON THE RISE AGAIN? I don't think that the Queen would be intimated by the Draghar alone but what if they were WORKING WITH THE UNSEELIE TO OVER THROWN THE SEELIE? There is another thing that makes me wonder. Notice in Dk H'Lander, on page 238 SIMON BARTON DREW (MASTER OF BRITISH DRAGHAR ORDER) talks about the various businesses that have been used as fronts to hide what truly went on in the crypts beneath the Blethew building for centuries. ONE OF THOSE BUSINESSES WAS A BOOK STORE FOR RARE BOOKS LIKE THE ONE JB OWNS!!! BUT THERE IS SOMETHING EVEN MORE SUSPICIOUS, Simon had two son who he stated could always be found in the electrical heart of their operations...Could it be that they were not apart of the Ritual when the Dageus released the thirteen evils and one of them survived to seek revenge or Just to get the power of the Hallows. One last thing, Is BARRONS REALLY BARTON Drew?? ABOUT THE RIGHT AGE?

- really stupid way to return ... but I'm a dork ;-P -- Annaline, 10:41:50 04/19/07 Thu [2]
Wow, I've been out of the loop for a while now. But I solemly sweart that I've been up to no good! *hee hee* But I've been scanning some of the past theories when I came across "JB AGAIN -- ANGELIA, 17:24:40 03/15/07 Thu [5]" and noted her thoughts on JB being a Berserker and she noted a bit about blue eyes and sapphires: "JB is part berserker. On page 38 he is described as having dark eyes. Dark what? In To Tame Grimm eyes are described as blue. His eyes's are being compared to fine saphires. Saphires are dark blue" and just wanted to point something out: sapphires are also pink ... and green ... and golden ... and a very pretty yellow. The fine sapphires are actually considered to be of a middle shade of clear blue ... dark blue is only one variety of sapphire (and we usually sell the darker ones for less at the jewelery store I'm at). I think KMM is being very intentional in the way she hasn't explicitly described JB's eyes to us yet. She's only giving us hints and clips. Don't forget, though, JB's appearances change as the book goes on. I don't have a copy with me at the moment (and it's been awhile since I've read it) but if you read Mac's first description of him it varies from one in the middle of the book. JB's physical appearance varies just like his treatment of Mac. His description has varied much more than any character in the book and any character KMM has previously written about.
(And as an aside: I've tried putting up some pics of Scotland on the main page ... I'm not sure how well it's working, but y'all might like to check it out anyway).

- Quote from Immortal Highlander predicting the Fever series?? -- Suz, 16:01:54 04/09/07 Mon [4]
After I read Dark Fever I was re-reading Immortal Highlander and read the following in a completely different light after reading DF
"A little over 5 years in their future, their world was in chaos, the walls between Faery & Man were down, and the Unseelie ruled with an icy, brutal hand. . ."
Doesn't that sound like a prediction of the Fever Series?
...and I wonder if the following quote is hinting at either another race or a new talent?? {near page 398 in the LargePrint edition} "ledgend held there was only one race that could navigate what was yet to be, but Adam gave little credence to such legends), not even the Queen herself could stop time."

- DF Prologue -- Amy, 23:22:51 04/10/07 Tue [5]
I have just started reading the Highlander Series. I found them in our book filing cabinet at work. I have read the Touch, the Immortal, and the Spell. (Will have to go and get the missing ones!) I just started on DF but wanted to see what background information I missed before starting. In the prologue she notes the walls are down and the Fae are out. What book did this happen in? At the end of the the Spell of the Highlander, it is mentioned that Aiobheal has 3 of the five warriors she needs...Now in DF she is missing and the walls are down. Is there something else I need to read before DF? I really want to plunge on into the book - but don't want to skip something important!
Thanks so much! I am hooked on these books!

- JB & Mac -- Suz, 10:11:51 04/09/07 Mon [2]
I think JB should be The One for Mac. There is a lot that we don't know about him, but that will only make KMM's fever books more interesting. He is a very complex character. So is Mac, as she is learning, and I think they will be spectacular together when she becomes more of herself as she will as this series continues. Suz

- JB a Berserker? -- Leana (Hmmmmmm.......), 18:17:37 03/26/07 Mon [5]
I was reading through the messages and I saw Angelia's from 3/15 about JB being a berserker, and I think that's a very interesting theory...I wonder if maybe he's part berserker and (like Angelia said) that's why he was able to move the way he did, and have those eyes that he has????????
