I have visited this board but once before and I've just re-read To Tame a Highland Warrior. I'd like to share a thought or two. I don't know if this was mentioned before and sorry to repeat if I am. Gavrael & Jillian's three sons, triplets are an altered Beserker. History of the Central Hall confirmed that although there were some families with many children, none appeared to be multiple births. Twins. Triplets. Quads. Jillian carries something into the equation that she's not aware of. Eyecolor in beserkers do not change until puberty, from brown to ice-blue. These three lads already have ice-blue eyes as infants. They sense the presence of their mother long before they see her, and look up as one. Ronin, the grandfather & Gavrael, the father conclude that this has never happen in the McIlloch history ever. Gavrael admits there is something very different in him, or is there something very different in Jillian. I think JB is one of these lads grown. So, when do we meet up with the other two ? Also, Adam made reference at one time to a race, but didn't give much credit to the folklore... I think these three are proof to the theory that race in question does exist. Re- read for yourself the last page of TO TAME...the EPILOGUE. Thanks for the venting space...

  - Good theory....but I do have to add that in the epilogue, THAT seems like it was added just before publication, an afterthought. A collection of observations that didn't really need to be told with the story. The story TO TAME...already had a begining, a middle, an end. There was no need except to leave more questions unanswered...So in one if not all, there definitely be a returning berserker or an altered one...or all three of the siblings.Five hundred year old can have a wealth of knowlege... I can feel it. It just wasn't by coincidence...ANYHOO...noone lost their shirt betting on this anyway. If I'm correct, I'll do a happy dance as entertainment on this board. Okay ? !! - OK. I bought Tame. All I can say right now (I'm still reading it) is that I think you're right. JB resembles a Berserker! I admit I was hoping for something altogether different. Still, it's cool. In Tame, the issue of losing one's soul as a Berserker is not dealt with cleanly. (I haven't finished it yet). I get the feeling (from the teasers) that JB thinks that he is damned. Being damned doesn't come across as strongly for Grimm - at least as far as I have read. And Grimm doesn't have an issue with daylight, as JB seems to have. BloodFever Booklet thoughts -- JOJO, 14:26:01 07/03/07 Tue [9]
Ok i am offically a nerd. I have gone through the booklet with a highlighter. My husband just walks by me and shakes his head, he swears to all that will listen that i have gone insane. OK here it goes my newest thoughts:
Mac says she thinks she is from Georgia but lately she is having some tricky memories that she can't sort through. I think that she is remembering her life before being sent to Georgia. She was obviously adopted when she was very young but i think now that she realizes it she is pulling up some repressed memories.
I think that it is so funny that she calls it "putting on the southern". No lie I do that. Every one I know does that, it is what we do when dealing with angry torist. We say Now Sugar I don't know what the problem is but if we just slow down I bet we can work it out, Honey. LOL
Who is Ryodan and why doesn't JB want mac to know about him?
Fiona says on page 21 that JB "Healed" Mac's wounds. I think he has some kind of druid power.
Fiona also says that she does not have choices either, I think that she is some how tied to JB and can not leave even if she wanted to.
The ink that Mac washes off her arm, I think that is left over from JB tatooing her and she just has not seen the tat yet.
I think that V'lane is telling the truth when he says that he does not realize his affects on humans. The Fae have always tried to stay away from humans except for Adam of course and even Adam said that Gabby was the first woman he ever meet that did not just fall into his arms.
What is the deal with JB's wards?
OK now i have a head ache. I am going back to work at least that is relaxing.

- I am so glad I am not the only one. I bought two books one for notes in the pages and one to keep pretty. My daughter took the one with notes and is adding to mine. So I will have to go back and read it when she is done. I called her up a minute ago and she said hold on two more paragraphs,please. We are hooked bad.         Ginaj has been making soaps! Soaps that have the scents of our favorite men ( or Fae, as the case may be. I'm partial to Adam myself, and the Adam soap is great). You Have to get some! I don't have Ginaj's website handy, but I'll post it within 24 hours. I agree with everything on this message (above) except that it seems to me that the poaint on Mac's arm was more like the symbols that JB would require as a Druid to heal Mac's arm. She loves the look of this guy and thinks he could be fae for sure. I love his posture and those hands. But he is very goth, too.

I just had a chilling thought. What if JB's curse somehow involves a victim who is a woman - who has to share his curse with him? I was just thinking about his remarks about how pretty women crumble, then don't have the strength of character to endure without their pretty feathers, and also that the hint that Mac makes a 'life altering' decision somewhere downstream in choosing between V'Lane and JB. - In th booklet Q&A Karen MM says "The darkest hour is before dawn. It isn't dawn yet." I think that tells us she is not going to reveal anything until the last book. This is in the Excerpt part for Spell on the web site and it just struck me as interesting. We know of the others looking for the book so could the Ancient Sorcerer be JB? He would know a great deal about a great deal and he spoke spells over Mac after the Dark Zone, wears a cuff. What do ya gals think? It doesn't explain all but it may show that Aoibheal knows about him, too?!?

- Yes. I"ve studied this passage over and over. I was thinking that it was more likely that JB was the thief. We know that SOmebody broke into Lucan's London joint right after the conclusion of Spell, and JB was too late to get the thing he was looking for. I have the sneaking suspicion that the ancient sorcerer is one of the 5 that Queen Abby needs, and that we'll meet him later. But there is no reason for me to say these things. There is no proof. I keep reading it over and over, and while I see the number of times he threatens to kill Mac, I also see the kind things that he does. I'll go from thinking what a horrible thing to say to Fio (about her merely 'serving his needs') to hearing him tell Mac that he was the only one willing to take her on as a student, to try to help her survive. I just got finished reading the booklet. Thanks to Cheryl. I think that JB is cursed and locks his self up under the Garage, that is what the sounds are but I have no idea what he may be. I think that Fiona is an old bitty, who has a love hate relationship with JB. I think that V'lane opened the window and turned off the lights. V'lane reminds me of an early Adam and opening the window is a ver Adam thing to do. That way Mac had to talk to him. It is no accident that he showed up just as Mac was about to get eaten. I still believe that V'lane is seelie, he just reminds me so much of Adam in the earlier books. - Alright here I go, I so agree with you that JB is cursed that is exactly what I thought when I first read. Have no idea what he is either can't wait to find out. I agree with you 100% that Fiona is an old bitty. You are most likely right that V'Lane opened the window but I think it is also possible that Fiona did it out of jealousy so I guess we will find out. I am on the fence about him being Seelie only because we have his word that he is from the queen and no one has seen her. I think possibly that the dark figure may have been Mac's bio mom looking out for her. Although it could be something totally different I am just guessing at this point. If I remember correctly from one of the teasers Leiha and KMM sent out in a Newsletter Mac is arrested for the murder of the Inspector because she was his last appointment.     - Oh I had forgoten that the DK can not leave his realm. Youare so smart. I do think though that the shades can be killed by light. V'lane....So I haven't posted in a LONG time, nor have I read the booklet yet, so I could be way off....but just bear with me for one minute......... I was reading past posts and I saw Cheryle's comment that she didn't think V'lane could be from the Seelie Court because Aiobheal was in with the DK...but what if V'lane is Aiobheal's contact to the outside world?? What is V'lane has someway into the Unseelie realm and he's telling Aiobheal everything that's going on??   - From Darrocs description in Immortal and the Lord Masters Description in Darkfever is why the majoity of us beleive he is Darroc. You are right though it has not been said that the Lord Master is Darroc. The Queen did not leave him with power but he has knowledge and knowledge is a powerful weapon in itself.   - I think authors like to play with us - to see if we can hook up the clues that they leave behind. Certainly J.K. Rowling plays with the audience with clue after clue. Anyway, I believe the clues about Darroc's relationship with the Lord Master are (1) The Scar - described very clearly in Immortal, and again in DF - a really distinctive identifying mark; (2) his hair color - very distinctive; and (3) his voice. He has a voice like V'Lane's, and is described as being the kind of voice that an upper-caste (like a Council Elder) would have. I agree with Cheryle that knowledge is power, and my sense is that Darroc still has his knowledge of being a Fae. It doesn't say that specifically in Immortal, but the clues are there. I think it is worth studying Spell for the fellow that approached Lucan, and the timeline of events since what happened in Immortal for clues about how Darroc might have potentially occuppied his time as a mortal. I do not know why yet, but I think it is really important to remeber that the Dark King is really old. Compared to him the queen is a child, she says so herself. I bet that he knows all kinds of info. that no one else knows or remebers. If we all accept that JB is ancient then we can guess that the dark king knows about him or at least knows what he is.

      - Ohhh! yes. I didn't process that information before. The fae can 'sift place' and so they can seemingly move in the blink of an eye. We've only seen Circenn, Adam, and JB do that (maybe 'Rowena'). When Dageus did it, I did not process that he is a Druid and shouldn't be able to do that. Verra interesting! Amie, thanks again for sending the BFB to me. Here are some insights. I thought it interesting that JB is originally from Scotland, but no accent. Definitely raised somewhere else, but since he mentioned Scotland. I thought that he might be some sort of relation to the Sinclair druids from Rosslyn. Also, I think that Fiona is a jealous, vindictive old woman. I think she purposely left the window open. But on the other hand it may have been a test of JB's to see how well she has recovered. I just wonder what old JB has tucked away in the lower levels of the garage. The growls and howls are interesting. I think he might have some Unseelie trapped down there. Or he could be down there, transformed into something horrible. We have to wait to find out though. Also I don't trust V'lane one little bit. - I have finished re-reading Dark. Now I finally can understand the question about Simon's sons. (It takes me a while, I'm a little slow). I love the idea that JB knows the Draghar sect, and maybe even was part of it. I agree with those little clues about the bookstore and how it says that wealthy and cultured men all over the world were involved in the Draghar sect. Don't forget that in Spell (in the prologue) it said that an ancient Druid was searching for the Dark Book in Tibet. What I think it means is that the art of Druidry is alive and that there are many more druids out there than the MacKeltars. Dageus as much as admits his surprise to learn that in Dark. So I think the jury is still out on JB - whether he is one of Simon's sons, whether he was part of the Draghar sect, or is yet another player in This Game. (I don't think he was the ancient Druid mentioned in Spell, but I think we'll meet that Player before the Fever series is over). sigh. Is it October yet? Just a thought! In "Into the Dreaming" , Aeden was the Unseelie Kings "Vengeance". and since Jane saved him. He needs a new Vengeance. Maybe JB is the new one. Also we were wondering as to where the Unseelie King is, I would say still in his realm. Since he cannot leave it. Also wondering where Aoibheal is, I believe she still might be in the Unseelie king's hand. As you know she went back to him to gloat about taking Aedan away from him. And there you go, back in his hands' again. And since there is not a time setting, you don't know when this happened. And the description of the Unseelie King. - I just finished reading 'Into the Dreaming"! What a hilarious book! It reminded me a little bit of the 19th century play She Stooped To Conquer, and there was even a throw-away line about stooping to conquer. I wonder if KMM did that deliberately! reading Immortal for the 5th or 6th time, i came across this little sentence that may mean something or not. page 283 "Though they'd(Fae)learned to move backward to certain degrees in it,and forward again to their present (though never beyond that: legend held there was only one race that could navigate what was yet to be, but Adam gave little credence to such legends), not even the quenn herself could stop time. Sorry your response got by me before..About my post re: Simons Barton Drew's son. IN DK. H'LANDER Did it say who actually brought Chloe back to the THE DRAGHAR HEADQUARTERS? Remember Simon sent two men after chloe at first. One was killed at Dageus' penthouse. Simon only said he would send his sons IF Trevor and the other man ALLOWED THEMSELVES TO captured ALIVE but The other man survived. He went to Scotland & set up surveilance of Drustan's castle reporting Simon. So don't U think he would have been the one to grab Chloe that morning or DO U THINK IT WAS Simon's sons? Also he never once called their names or said "well done sons" or something when he said bring her in so Dageus could see her. He never said or called anyone's name when he instructed someone to CUT HER in order to scare Dageus into submission. IF SIMON'S SONS WERE THERE AT THE RITUAL BEFORE THE DESTRUCTION OF THE CRYPT I THINK HE WOULD HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THEM AT LEAST ONCE DON'T U? THATS WHY I THINK THEY SURVIVED. Simon said his sons would DIE for him so that means they would die GETTING THEIR REVENGE FOR THEIR FATHER'S DEATH. OK maybe I am going completely insane but I have been thinking. I am a complete southern girl. Born and raised in a small town. I still live there. And I am sorry but I still have trouble beliving that Mac's parents let Alina go to Ireland. I can not go to Wal-mart with out letting my daddy know I am OK. On my wedding night I had to call him and say I was alright or he was comming to get me. This is just how daddys are here in the south. Anyway, I believe that they let Alina go to Ireland because they wanted her to learn about her heritage. It was only after she was killed that they realized what a hughe mistake that was and tried to keep Mac from going. We are talking about southern parent here momma cooks all the time and daddy is protective and still calls Mac his baby girl. Trust me they had another reason for letting her go. School would not have been a good enough reason. What do you grils think.

- I think you have hit on somthing. Something is extremely fishy about them living in Ashford, Georgia (so small and provincial that No Fae EVER visited - how convenient!). Jack Lane tells Mac, in that fatefull phone call that they were 'warned' not to let the girls return to Ireland. So they knew. Imagine their guilt about violating that warning! Rainey Lane is so guilt ridden that she is on medication and is practically comatose. She went from being happy, on a 3 week vacation, to comatose. That is some powerful guilt! I"ve been wondering about Alina's relationship with her parents. If she was not as head-in-the-sand as Mac was about their coloring (biology), she might have realized a lot sooner about the possibility that they were adopted. She might have confronted her parents, and wrapped it all up in the desire to study at Trinity College. There were no nasty Fae to reinforce the warning. Here's maybe a question of the day. In the booklet, Mac contemplated that if she had to choose between death by sex with V'Lane, or death by a shade, she'd choose the latter. I have to think about it, but part of my answer is that I can understand Mac's choice. Being used for sex is partially about control. By chosing to die by Shade, Mac would not allow the Fae to have control over her mind, to toy with her before she died. It makes her thoughts, the ones that we got in the recent teaser about being touched by V'Lane even more chilling.

At bottom, who you are is defined by the integrity of your spirit. Would you sell out? Would you allow someone like V'Lane to rob you of who you are for his own sport? I even think there are words about this at the very beginning of Darkfever. Yes, in the prologue - like any addiction, if you give in, they'll own you, if you resist, they never will.

(I have to admit that I don't think I have the integrity that Mac has.)

        I work at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. It is close enough to the Goldstone Deep Space Network complex, that I can imagine driving out to the desert some night to program one of the big antennaes to point to (where? What are the coordinates for the Island of Morar?) to contact V'Lane. Dude, I'll say in encrypted language, you have to check out 'chica' in the black leotard. [That's you, Jo.
