Subject: Here's maybe a question of the day. In the booklet, Mac contemplated that if she had to choose between death by sex with V'Lane, or death by a shade, she'd choose the latter. What choice would YOU make, and why, and why do you think Mac contemplated that choice that she did? (OK, that's two questions).

I have to think about it, but part of my answer is that I can understand Mac's choice. Being used for sex is partially about control. By chosing to die by Shade, Mac would not allow the Fae to have control over her mind, to toy with her before she died. It makes her thoughts, the ones that we got in the recent teaser about being touched by V'Lane even more chilling.

At bottom, who you are is defined by the integrity of your spirit. Would you sell out? Would you allow someone like V'Lane to rob you of who you are for his own sport? I even think there are words about this at the very beginning of Darkfever. Yes, in the prologue - like any addiction, if you give in, they'll own you, if you resist, they never will.

(I have to admit that I don't think I have the integrity that Mac has.)
