Another thought on JB's Background -- DARKFEVER

Subject: Another thought on JB's Background

We are told that the Fae can't recognize and sense their own OOPs. They can *handle* them, but not find them in an underground chamber crowded with religious artifacts, for instance.

AND --

JB does not know what to look for when in said chamber with ML, but recognizes it when she grabs it.

That implies he is at least half Fae doesn't it?

I also vaguely recall a reference to creatures that could travel foward in time, to a place they had not been in yet. The Tua De could only go from past to NOW, not tomorrow, if you understand the distinction. But even Adam though those other creatures were legendary. And Adam is only about 5000 years old, a 'mere child' by his race's standards.

So is that what Jericho is? (A Highlander? In the end, there can be only one . . . Wait, no, sorry. Wrong universe.) One of those mythical others? My sneaking suspicion is that, the scene where Mac senses JB is somewhere else simultaneously, and being almost used up, that some sort of parallel existence is going on.

On a tangent, isn't it interesting that the word SIMULTANEOUS contains the words, 'no time', and 'time is a lie' ?

But I've been thinking about the 'altogether different' aspect. In Dark Highlander, it is said that the 13 Druids called upon an ancient power that was neither Human nor Fae. So in this Universe, there are 'powers' beyond those of Fae or mortal that can be brought to bear. I'm not sure how the future time travel thing ties in, because if Jericho could travel into the future, then the story is over, isn't it? It may 'seem' that JB can shift spatially, in place, the way the Fae can. However I'm not certain we have all the data on that. He might have a certain magic. I'm also not certain why JB can't seem to touch The Spear. He can touch other Oops, just not that one. Is it because of its relation to Christ? (even though it pre-dates Christ). I forgot about that lapse in attention while they were meeting Malluce. --

I can't explain why I'm not convinced that JB is not Fae, just a gut feeling. I think it has to do with his all-too-Human attachment to material treasures & collectibles. I'm sure I'll be proven wrong in time. But I think the idea that he is altogether different is better. And I'm holding out for the idea that he is a Druid.

Also I'm not sure that we have all the data on whether JB can/can't detect Oops on his own. I'm not sure anybody would have known about the box on Malluce's desk or the specific Spear among the collection in the little room. Would a Druid have been able to immediately find the artifact? We don't know.

Let me put it this way, I'm not convinced that the fact that he didn't sense them is a reason to believe he IS Fae.

Hope you don't mind me being talkative about these matters and kicking proposals around. (1) I'm sort of obnoxious (trust me), and (2) this is fun! I'm usually wrong, and I'm comfortable with that.

Just wondering; is JB royalty wearing a torque even though it's not gold? If JB is not totally Fae, he's probably half Fae and half Druid with the background he gave Mac. I'm also wondering about his ability to leap from high places, and land on his feet like a cat without injury. Don't vampires do that too? I can't seem to recall any JB appearances that weren't associated with the night. Is this the being damned he aludes to in the Blood Fever excerpt? Just a guess. Also; the Lord Master, who is not Fae, surely has to be the now human Darroc. Come on! Long copper coloured hair and eyes? Another far fetched idea; could Aoibheal be hiding out as the mysterious Fiona? At the end of "Spell" she says she has been taken with employing mortal form much of late. ???????
