This is my last post for today, I promise.

One of the girls mentioned the Audio Books for DarkFever and said that they were really good. I bought them last week and spent the entire week listening to them. It is a really good opportunity to listen and make mental (and physical) notes while the narrator is reading.

I really enjoyed the southern accent of the narrator. It fit perfectly with Mac, but I think that her voice was a little too old. The voice brought to mind a Mac in her 40's or 50's, re-telling her story, not early to Mid 20's.

Although she did really great on the voices in the story, I didnt like her representation of JB. In the book, it states that he was not Irish, and her narration of JB was too Irish.

Overall, I enjoyed the Audio Books, but I dont know if I would buy anymore on Audio. I guess you get and idea of the way people sound and how the scenes would play out in your head (voice level, attitude, emotions, etc,.) and hearing someone else narrate just isnt the same. In many of the emotional parts of the sotry, her voice did not change enough for me to really get into her reading.

I too enjoyed the audio as it allowed me to pick things out in hearing the story read to me. I do agree that the southern accent was good but the age of the voice didn't fit, someone younger would have sounded better. As for JB I didn't like it at all due to the fact that she used the Irish accent and JB was not supposed to be Irish. As I said for the same reasons as you stated were the same for me. I realize that it would cost too much to have different people do the voices but they should have at least had a man do JB's and the other male voices rather than a woman.

I so agree. Some male with a deep forgien accent but one that was not distinguishable.

I found them to be delightful. Not as good as the Harry Potter audios, but better than the usual audio where the reader doesn't really work hard at the different voices. It's true that the reader conveys JB's accent as if he were Irish. However that doesn't detract from the read in my view. She gives him a very distinct voice, and it heightened my experience of reading the book to consistently 'hear' JB when he was in a scene.

Am going to always listen to these books in audio form from here on in, like I do with the Harry Potter books, that's how much I enjoyed the experience.
