where's the king?

Hi everyone. Been doing a little rereading, and I was trying to figure out who King Finnbheara is and why did he refer to adam as the court fool and where did he disappear to in the books that follow? Am I missing something big here? AHH is it october yet????? Any help with is a great help. Thanks
