Thiking about Mac the chatterbox ... -- DARKFEVER

Subject: Thiking about Mac the chatterbox ...

when she is down in the catacombs of underground Dublin, Mac turns into a chatterbox. why is that? Even when she is functionally disabled. Why did JB take her down there again after their battle in the Dark Zone, anyway? Why couldn't he just run her through the empty streets of the Dark Zone back to the bookstore? Is there, perhaps, an issue that the author wants to reinforce the idea that there is something about the sewer system that affects Mac in a strange, compulsive way? Like is there a ward or spell down there?

Just turning things over in my head this week!

What I question is, why did he make her grab the spear. I don't recall him touching it at all in the first book. He even instructed her as she took it off the staff to use as a blade. And after the fight with the the vamp, you don't hear much more about it.

Is there a reason why JB hasn't touched the spear?

oooh! you're right! I think the only time he touched it was when he used it to stab the Gray Man - however he didn't touch the blade, just the shaft. good point!

OMG! I read it again, and not only did he not touch it, he left it in Mac's purse and stabbed the Gray Man through the purse. OMG! He never even got close to it. This is a really important clue.

There's something there...He could be a Fae himself. Didn't he have a Arm band and torque too that Mac had noticed one night?
