Subject: More to Mac than meets the eye?

JB tells Mac that there are some sidhe-seers who can sense OoP, others who can sense the dark portals, and still more who have other powers - that each sidhe-seer has a unique set of powers. But Mac not only can sense OoP, she is a Null, AND she can see the dark portals. Does that make her a super-powered Sidhe-seer? Is that why, at the end of the book, JB laughs about Mac being a strange thing to call something like her?

[> I think I saw a reference that MacKayla is one of the most powerfull sidhe-seers ever borne! Also she is a last null of the human kind, and I am convinced that the Unseelie king is after her; which makes V'lane much more intriguing character (remember unseelie and seelie princes look the same ;) ) -- Veronika G, 11:20:55 05/13/07 Sun [1]

I think that there are two other clues that V'Lane is an Unseelie Prince:

1) In the museum, he asks Mac what they stole from O'Bannion. They knew she stole something, just not what it was. One way that 'they' might have learned those facts - namely the fact that there was a theft and not what was stolen, is if the 'Rhino Boys' that were staking out O'Bannion's place worked for the same outfit as V'Lane. The rhino boys would know that something was afoot, but probably not what it was.

2) When she pulls out the spear, he vanished right away. He didn't say - oh, good! You seem to have something to protect yourself with now, and won't be needing the Cuff of Cruce after all.

;-)

[> what was the dark portal? Was that the thing that openned at the end of the book and let all the unseelie things out? And not every one can see that? -- Gwen, 00:56:18 05/14/07 Mon [1]

There are 2 dark portals - the one that the Lord Master opens at the end of the book, and the cursed mirrors that Mac sees inside 1247 LaRuhe St. The mirrors served as ancient portals between the realms until they were cursed. It's not clear how many Humans could see either one, but my guess is that certain Sidhe-seers can see them, if that is the flavor of their ability to 'see,' and that it is clear that Mac can see both of them.
