Were Druids only male or could they be female?

I am kind of hoping that JB is Fae, Druid or a mix of both, so this is the reason for my question.

We know that Adam Black was able to sire a half fae son, what if a female fae was able to do the same with a Druid male? This would explain his almost Druid like qualities when healing Mac at the end of Darkfever and his special abilities (from Fae mom) that we have witnessed so far.

Just a thought.

I hope it is a female, possibly Colleen, Maggie and Christopher's oldest twin daughter. Can you imagine how that would turn the whole thing on it's ear, having a female Druid.
