I am woefully behind on everything since the pageant ended, including a final night recap. And emails! I got some nice correspondence over pageant week and will get to them. But I did get a chance to watch the preliminaries and I think we will see a traditional powerhouse win this year. Some come across as very arrogant and thus, unlikeable for me. I didn't particularly care for the hair flipping. But here is the ones that stood out the most to me:

USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Dominican Republic, South Africa, Angola, Slovak Republic, Germany, Colombia, Curacao, Great Britain, India, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahrain, and Ukraine.

I think there is a strong possibility that the crown comes back to this part of the globe, somewhere in the Caribbean or Central America.

I will be watching and giving some commentary in this thread.

[> Subject: 5 called so far: Puerto Rico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Australia, and Laos. Haiti is not a surprise, Australia I didn't think was up to par for her country, and Laos is a total shocker.

[> Subject: FINAL 6: Curacao! India, Venezuela, Spain, USA, Colombia. The only one that is a surprise is Spain. I did not care for Venezuela but they are like Texas at MAO. I really hated her huge green wrap with her evening gown. I am not the fashion police but it was a horrible color.

[> Subject: Damn! That was one fantastic competition. It's hard to pick a winner because they were all so good. I thought South Africa might have had the strongest presentation but I had Peru, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Curacao and Portugal with good presentations.

[> Subject: Based on answers, it is USA or Dominican Republic for me. I have them in the top 3 with possibly Venezuela. I thought Curacao was a bit simplistic and Puerto Rico was average. This tribute to Cheslie is beautiful and sad, it is making me cry. Her mother is beautiful, I am so sorry we lost Cheslie. It would be nice if all families could speak out like this. Do not worry, April, we will talk about Cheslie.

[> Subject: I was correct in that the crown would be going somewhere in the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico-USA, Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. I am rooting for USA to bring it home but if not would be happy with Dominican Republic. She seems very intelligent and would be very well-spoken throughout the world about education. I really liked her answer.

[> Subject: AND WE HAVE A NEW MISS UNIVERSE!!!! VERY WELL DESERVED!!! RBonney was there to win, and she brought it. I think after evening gown it was hers and then she nailed her questions. I was a bit surprised just because there is some baggage around her but if it disappeared before it will disappear again. I really do not think there is any question tonight why she won. She was on fire.
