Subject: And interestingly enough, Nancy Fleming, who was to me one of the quintessential classic Miss Americas-demonstrated her sewing to win Miss America. And I think she won a preliminary talent award as well. I am still of the belief that every person has some kind of talent or skill they have perfected. Miss Idaho from this year is a great example. I wasn't sure how I would have scored it, but she did use her talent of ceramics in her talent presentation. I think it was more about the presentation. I don't think judges would go for that over, let's say, classical opera. But I give her credit for doing that. Also remember that Miss KS 13 wanted to do archery but was not allowed. So she changed to singing, and she really wasn't a talented singer. I think the problem was the perception of the level of skill with Camille's talent.

In reply to: 's message, "Her talent is along the same line as a demonstration, like how to pack a suitcase, how to accessorize fashion, etc. It's just that her ending was colorful and explosive, which grabbed the audience attention, most importantly, the judges attention. Do I feel that it was best prelim talent, no for various reasons...but then, I was not on the judging panel." on 16:45:18 01/17/20 Fri
