Maybe some are, but I judged at Texas and I’m telling you, here at least, they are not. I was told to pick someone I could see not only as Miss Texas, but as Miss USA or Miss Universe. I was also told to pick the best overall girl, and that they must have a great swimsuit figure because while they can fix a bad gown or an ugly hair color, there’s not enough time to get someone in Miss USA shape in a few months. There you have it folks, that’s what the judges are told. They are also not allowed to discuss the girls. -- The Texas Beauty Shop
