Hello everyone! My family and I would like to wish you all a terrific summer. This years ECA pageant will be taking place December 1st. Paperwork will be coming out soon for those interested in the Hospitality Title of the pageant. I want to personally thank those who have participated in the past, making ECA the huge success that it has been. We have been able to provide donations to The Children's Miracle Network, scholarships, sponsor Little League, as well as other youth oriented functions. On June 2nd of this year myself, our winners, along with J-Lynn -2007 Little Miss Maine Int'l, went on the televised telethon to help present $1,000. They even helped during the hour to do the kids tote board for CMN. You guys were amazing! I'm proud at how you represented ECA. And as usual we are looking forward to seeing familiar faces again this year and hope to meet some new friends as well. : )

This photo was from the evening portion of the pageant. The younger ones are done in the afternoon due to pageant size as well as little ones get tired. Listed in photo from left to right: Rebekah Cox Mini Supreme Queen, Erin Crowe Jr. Hospitality Queen, BreAnna Beal Age Division Miss Queen and Miss Photogenic Queen, Taylor Cushing Grand Hospitality Queen, Kristi Smith Grand Supreme Queen, Kimberly Fenton Age Division Ms. Queen, Jessica Olsson Miss Model Queen, and Pictured middle Dana Mackechnie Age Division Jr. Miss Queen and Jr. Miss Model Queen. I think they are a beautiful bunch of young ladies. : ) Due to size of the pageant we do not have time for interview. Little ones do a beauty walk only and the older evening contestants do a casual wear model as well as beauty. Please feel free to visit our website and email me with any questions you may have. : )

The second East Coast Angels Basketball Camp was held July 9th-14th. The basketball camp is done more to give back to the children of the area. Everyone seemed to have a great time, and everyone walked away with at least one prize. We had some extremely talented kids this year and a few walked away with ribbons, trophies, and a medallion. Also thank you to our wonderful volunteers who put a great deal of their time to work with the kids during the ball camp. :) It's nice to see pageant girls be able to compete in sports against the boys! Great job everyone!

Is this common among other "local" pageants?

ECA was designed specifically in memory of our precious son to give back to the youth here in Maine, with the largest donation being the Children's Hospital at EMMC. :) Most local pageants that I know, are usually part of a town's celebration (like 4th of July) and therefore money raised usually goes to their town's account to help with the funding. For many towns that will include donating the money to the children's games, parades, and things of that nature. I believe that most local pageants representing a town do have some sort of cause they are using the profit for. I know the first pageant my daughter ever did, she was 10 months old and Grand Supremed. The money raised at that particular pageant was donated to a woman who was around my age who had terminal cancer. The money was used to set up a fund for her little girl's future. There are many great little local pageants out there. :)

You must live or go to school in Washington County, Maine, or Charlotte County, New Brunswick, to participate in this pageant, but all profits are donated back to the school where the pageant is held and things like the local recreation department. Also, the queens and princesses are encouraged to do community service. It is a VERY well organized pageant, and a great experience. If you can enter, I encourage you to do so! (And if you can travel to Beals in December, Janell's ECA pageant is another good one!)

My daughter had the pleasure of winning Little Miss St. Croix Valley the first time she did it. It was a wonderful experience for her and I both. The directors are wonderful ladies, and I can tell you first hand this one also gives back to the community. :0) She can't wait until she is old enough to compete again!
